  1. Day 4 540 miles Left 7 AM back at 5 PM Ice road for the first two hrs! 10 hr ride. Both E and I safe and sound! Jim, We had no communication with the dealer and had no idea what the wait time would be Monday AM in Val Dor? Closed Sat noon Stumbled upon the mechanic in Matagami and it just so happened he was delivering a sled to Montreal today so Eric and I made the mutual decision this was prob the best option. Doonali, Sled was a 09 600 carbed with 4700 miles. ( I know I was gambling a bit ) We have been running the motor since 05 and this is the first one to let us down. Several had 10000 plus with no issues. Until next time, BJ/Eric
  2. Eric's Camel running strong with 12500 plus......it's the two stroke that let us down. Here we come 4 stroker. Brand to be determined! Eric says Hello.....he's about to go out for a 50 mile loop solo.
  3. Day 3 150 plus miles from Sennatare to Matagami . Trails excellent and weather a balmy 22 degrees with nothin but blue skies. Just when things couldn't get any better! I'm going to treat Eric to a Canadian limo ride back to Shawinigan via the Black Trail. He said it's the only trail n Quebec that he has yet to ride. Special trail pass required from Matagami! ($750 bucks). A real deal from out in these parts! Always an adventure :(
  4. I actually made the decision to take the trail....faint tracks of a groomer. All part of the adventure! The blood pressure was up..lol
  5. Eric is a blood hound! The SOB gets on a scent a doesn't stop. I'm going to start smoking cigarettes just so he will stop and I can stretch my legs!
  6. Day 2 240 miles All trails in Perfect condition. -33 last night at fer chaval. The sleds were a little reluctant this morning but we woke em up without issue. We took the road from fer Cheval to Clova......sign said 95 kms and the road was looking sweet. With recent fresh snow and no tracks a logging operation thru us a curveball that ended up taking us backcountry on a beautiful trail past Mary's lake and to Lepine Rd. Thank god our internal GPSs were accurate as it was great to take the road less traveled and observe some of quebecs beauty and end up were we wanted.....( andrenaline rush for a bit?). We were after all beyond our point of no return with fuel and following a trail with no signage. Fuel in Clova and at Buzzbard..... 83 was a gem to Seneterre! Blue skies and not a cloud in the sky. The temps warmed up in the afternoon and the foreseeable future looks like we will be riding in the 20's. BJ
  7. Day 1 260 miles in by 5 with an hr lunch at Repo! Nothin but blue skies and sun all day. Passed 17 sleds. Took the river M19 to 360 fuel in Manawin 10. ( a little nippy early AM ) 345 to repo junction of 33 10 33 to 13 to Fer Cheval. 10 Only bump we hit today was during a 2 mile portion of sightseeing trail in the lovely town of Manawan. No signs and no groomer. Fortunately RADAR guessed correctly at 10 intersections in a row to get us thru without an F Story. Day couldn't have been better! BJ
  8. Godspeed! We have arrived! Fingers crossed with a little luck we are back here next wed/ thurs. I'm riding with former handle "guest" soon to be "radar" and formerly jackstraws trail boss. Looking forward to some great times, great riding, and as always and adventure to remember. BJ / Eric Sleds in one piece and fully functional!
  9. Leaving Thurs early AM from Shawinigan. With some luck we should be in the area for the weekend! Warming trend in the forecast...... Have a great ride.
  10. ACE very cost effective.... I can't wait to retire to take on an adventure as such!
  11. Mike, Can't get off the old 600 motor. Just rebuild shocks, all bearings in skid, hyfax, chaincase oil, cleaned carbs...runs like a top. Only 5000 miles on it as I was on sabbatical due to neck surgery....figure I'll have a new one within 5000 more miles. No issue with the $$$, just love the sled and the reliability. 900 ACE renegade tops the list but a little skiddish about the top end. Hope to see you soon mike. Prob late February early March and a late march trip. Unfortunately my 5 yr olds birthday is the 14 so I can't make the gathering BJ
  12. Andy, Just curious how accurate the expense formula of $1 per mile traveled corresponded to a trip of this magnitude! Surprisingly it's been fairly accurate for us. May need an actuary to reconfigure with the ACE...LOL BJ
  13. I run a combination of choko inner layer and jacket with $$$ Klim Bibs and Gloves. One thing I can say about my experience with Klim, their rain / wind protection is excellent with less bulk but you are going to pay more. Also have full leather top and bottom but usually reserve that for the Harley as it feels like it's made of lead. The largest windshield you can buy is the best way to stay warm by far!!!! My 2 cents, BJ
  14. Have a great trip boys.... Hope to catch u guys later in the season with Pellegirino. BJ
  15. Awesome! The information on the hydro facility is remarkable! Sure makes you wonder why we don't take more advantage of H2O to power the states. Congrats on a remarkable adventure! BJ
  16. I would try to avoid the entire town.... We will never be back and we only got gas!
  17. Great Stuff! Looking forward to the details.... BJ
  18. Epic is an understatement! Best of Luck and please post pics! BJ
