  1. I've sent an email to Dominique at Clova for a room. Will reserve forestel next week. Looking forward to this. This is a fun rum. I am willing to sled longer if any one wants to go early or stay later. January is a slow month for me.
  2. I like Clova and Val D'or as well. I might suggest that the start be Mt Laurier to Clova and then Val D'or. Its easy for people to get to Mt Laurier. Clova by truck is likely an adventure which we all like but..... The run by sled is doo able and then if people wanted they could loop down from Val D'or to Mt Laurier, a bit longer of a run but for die hards can be done in a day. From past experience early January would be pushing to get decent trails. My .02 cents Mike
  3. Of course its likely to change, but this season dosnt want to end 10-15 for Mt Valin I'm getting excited again!
  4. Thanks for the update Did you gate any word as to when they will stop grooming or how much longer one can expect to ride. Hoping to be recovered and go in 2 weeks or the 13th weekend. Mike
  5. Went up and rode the new Yammi cat, was actucally the 7000 lxr. I came away very impressed with this sled for trail riding. Very light yet responive steering and a nice ride. Had it up to about 80 mph briefly in one section and had lots more power to go. As demo rides go it wasn't bad as we were averaging about 50-60 mph on the trails there. Some junk sections which allowed me to consider how the suspenion worked. Having spent a full weekend on a 2012 renegade 1200 this winter and was impressed with that I would choose this new one over it. Mainly for the light of steering and similar suspenions. Power wise its hard to say but I think the 1200 doo has a bit more. I think if people ride this they will be impressed. I'm a power guy so untill they have a factory turbo or super its not for me so I will be ordering a new cat turbo until then or doo has a bigger package. No word yet on fuel though the Yammi guys are likely familiar with this engine and the fuel economy. Also rode the the turbo after and honestly it rode like crap in comparison but has lots of power. Hoping the new 137" skid will be better than this 128 i rode and the XF 141" which I owned til amonth ago. No chance to ride the new 6000 but people seemed to say it was good but good compared to what I don't know.
  6. Grumpy Sorry never got your PM and just checking in now. I ended going up today for the ride, was a last minute desion. I was there about noon. I figured you would have been out on your new sled. Will put a small write up in a new tread. Mike
  7. The other option you might look at is going to Cornwall this weekend. There is another Yamaha demo ride unless it was cancelled. I am up north so I cant go but call and see if they have the new Viper. Will be closer than the Cat demo Mike
  8. Brion Cat will be offering demo rides, go to their site and be sure its shows canada for dates etc. If you go, send me a PM, might go with you Mike
  9. I'm sure thats great advice but was hoping for a bit more than that lol !
  10. Looking at leaving this friday morning. 2 options, one being the Abitibi which I'm good for what i need to know there. The other option is leaving from Shawinigan and the first day going to Jonqiere. From there I would like to go west around the north side of the lake and come down the 83 or 355. I have not ridden this area much and do not know what to expect to ride in a day. Would like to keep it about 200-250 miles. Any idea where i would ride to or stay if I went this way? The third day I'm assuming should be relatively easy to get back to the truck from where ever we stay. Any input is appreciated. Thanks Mike
  11. you could try Roberts Sports center in Malone NY Talk to Wayne (owner) I have bought a few sleds from him and he has no issue selling to us Canadians and his prices are always great. I'm waiting till next week to see what is new for next year
  12. were leaving north of there from Le Domaine and heading towards Rougn Noranada, Amos etc. Will report back Monday but I expext it to be great
  13. Its really disappointing how some people screw others like that. Glad you got back but honestly why do they have to charge $900. I hope they need help some day and some one treats them right so they can appreciate life and understand their wrong.
  14. I picked up the last bag of cord at the metro today, told the wife and kids to enjoy it. Last they will have of it for some time.
  15. Here is a pic of the apex. Drove it befoere he took over. I did like the power stering a lot. I hope they can now come out with a better chasis for next year. Demoing a doo gsx se next weekend for 2 days in val dor. Not sure if its the 800 or 1200 but should be fun all the same. I did find the Hill Top and was well received! Mike
  16. WOW, thats incredible and not in a good way! Sold my sled a couple of weeks ago so i"m not feeling as bad right now as most. If these keeps up I wll get a smoking deal on a new one. I just home though this changes quickly for all the people that rely on this winter business. Mike
  17. I will still be there. I have to show a property in Hawksbury to a client but should be there for noon. Way back when these sites started up I first signed up with dootalk. I always thought i should try one (skidoo) out or that I was due for ski doo sooner or later and i went with that since I had never owned one. I did buy a 2006 mach z1000 but then sold it and went with yammi, then back to cat. I'm not really brand loyal. Who ever has the best for my purpose will get my business. I just use the same one for all the forums. I used to be marathon mike because I would drag all my buddies on trips averaging 350 miles a day. Maybe thats why I have problem keeping riding partners. :) Also too many names and pins to remember today with technology. See you tomorrow, I think I will have the black leathers. Do you know of a place near by called the Hillside? My buddy says i should go at check it out. Mike
  18. I have gome from St-Anne du lac to Roberval staright through, about 375 miles via jb scott etc, About a 10 hour ride. Usually a section of trail between Parent and the Indian area, cant remember the name but often this section of trail is not the best. Usually one would hit relais 22 about 4 pm if one didnt want to go all the way.
  19. If you go to yamaha canada there is a listng of dates and places. Each is usually just 1 day Brion will see you there. Mike
  20. Is Manawan the fortress style gas staion and store? I remenber we were afraid to leave our sleds at lunch the way this place looked. All was good but the perception wasn't the best.
  21. Called today and booked the apex xtx for noon. I will likely have the bright Cat suit on unless its really cold then black cat leathers. Mike
  22. cant comment on the non turbo but the belts like he said are blowing mainly on the booted turbo's and teh 800's. If you stay away from the sno pro model the ride is much better. Just sold my turbo and likely going to rent for the rest of the season and see what doo and yami has for new metal. Right now i am leaning towards the doo.
  23. Thanks, that is closer and a nice place to visit. Mike
  24. I hate to sound dumb but where is this? Name is not familair and couldn't find it on my map. Just sold the Cat tonight so looking to try out some new sleds.
