  1. Burke to the border is very easy, the trip is very doable. Need to leave yourself enough time for sure. We just trailer to RDL in the truck, go from there.
  2. Yes, looked a bit thin, (but it is snow I know). Hoping for more when we go week of the 26th. No extra fuel, but we will venture out no problem.
  3. The 31 is convenient, located at KM31 on the auto road. Other side of the mountain from where you are, but not far. Same car ride from Chicoutimi, a bit steeper road. Small rooms, gas, food, all on the trail, pretty big parking lot. From where you are, if you have gone to Chapelle Jalobert, you went by it on the left, set back from the trail a bit. The Bra Louis should be nice from Valinouet over to the KM31, not far. Out around Lac Casey should be OK too. Nice!
  4. Looks like a 15+ hour ride for you, hope you are staying awhile!
  5. I'm sure Greg will chime in with the details, but for SURE, you cannot go anywhere you want.
  6. I think only Doo has the XR versions. On the 1200's, last 3 years we used the 18 inch with the side defectors, works great, no folding. This year I am trying the 1 piece 17 inch, a buddy will try the 1 piece 14 inch, and another will stick with the 18 inch with the side deflectors, (lot's of parts to buy). Need snow to test. The stock X/TNT is 12 inch, way too low.
  7. They put notes on the conditions, when there is ride-able, groom-able snow, maybe after Jan 1 +/-. This is one of the nicest links for Quebec conditions: http://www.sledmagazine.com/actions/showConditions You'll notice a lot of red thus far into the season.
  8. We used to ride this area a lot from 89-99 I would say. Is was a super fun area. Then places closed down, trail reroutes, lack of grooming and we moved on. We still occasionally pass through, a skeleton of what it once was. Too bad, lots of nice territory for sure.
  9. Posted back in April I think, very funny.

  12. Got to wait and see. Sometimes you can just cross the border, sometimes you have to drive 7 hours across the border.
  13. Buddy rode 100 miles today, he was happy for November riding.
  14. Rain is good, settle the snow, freeze, make a nice base long term!
  15. We used to do these really early trips, not any more. A bit hard on the hyfax and the carbides, and the studs...... Hard to get more than a few miles in. Best to wait a month, let the base build, and the groomers get out. Even then you have to be careful on where you go and how far.
  16. As long as I don't have to tow you, I don't care either. Be kinda boring if the trails were all the same sled.
  17. When they run well, they are a real runner, I'm sure yours will be fine! This is the most they have changed in recent years to try to improve durability. Nice thing about riding in Quebec, you are never far from a SD dealer, no matter where you are.
  18. SD has been updating the 800 every year since it came out. Some run real good, no issues, and go a lot of miles, some, not so lucky. We could never figure it out, and have all moved to the 1200. I hope this year it is all set.
