    Cabanon

Road friday tour de Lac Taurau, trails well groomed to the dam and the tour de lac trail untill Auberge Taurau from there to St.Michel was told it was a nightmare so we opted for the lake back. Saturday road up to Kanawata via the dam and back on the new 33 which doesn't head south from Manaoun anymore it takes off right from Repos down to the tour de Lac Taurau trail between the dam and Canadaventure and back to Cabanon via dam once again. Sunday headed south to St.Damien and Manderville what a mistake, after leaving Real Masses territory at the St.Damien gate the trail went to s%$t all the way over to Lac Blanc then it was as if we stepped off this planet and jumped on to another one, night and day i tell ya. Ausome well groomered trail back through Koubecs to Cabanon. Did 900klms on the weekend and will return for another sometime soon,as soon as we get more snow.
  2. Did 100k today ran lake of 2 mountains, ottawa river to rigaud and returned by land via St Polycarpe St.Clet Vaudreuil, ice bridge plowed and in service. All trails freshly groomed, snow was thin but acceptable.
  3. I have the older Bombardier modular bought it on sale when the new ones came out,BV2's were selling at 600 bucks then, big turn off. Anyways all to say i have been riding in temps as low as -38C and never experienced fogging but on the other hand every two hours i had to clear out the exhaust breatheres as they ice up,much rather have this issue than fogging up. Love the helmet and now most of my riding parteners have switched over to the BV2s,i think it might be my last year for this helmet.
  4. Who's Peter Haldimand...is he some kind've celebraty???
  5. Is there any one out there that can throw some feedback on the Ottawa river, looking to ride the river from Grenville to Montebello next weekend. Question 1. Is the river ridable the full length in question? Question 2. Is it save to ride in front of the Rouge river? Question 3. With the new construction of autoroute 50 is there still a trail leading to the river in Grenville from trail 3 like in the past? Thanks in advance for all your help guys. JG
  6. Oh yeah...i got at in 6, took the long way back, wanted to ride. River all the way to Chateau Vaudreuil then came up to St.lizard, le Coteau, Pte.des Cascade and into Pincourt, 320 klms for our afternoon ride and i'm in great shape. Hallaluya Yamaha. I remember back with the older sleds with the conventional seating position i would always dream of and dred my first ride because it would really test how good of shape i'm in,always came back with aches and pains but always with a big smile. Boy oh boy what we used to go through (without realizing) to ride back then. I'm in my late fourties now and in not so good shape physically but with these new sleds (and seating position) i have no problem putting on the big miles with out worring about how i'm going to feel at the end of the day. Leaves more room for fun at the end of the day. A big thumbs up to the new seating position.
  7. I'm thinking about going to Grenville and taking the river all the way to Montebello, done it a few times in the past but again it's early in the season and the only spot that would worry me would be in front of the Rouge river, i am waiting for reports, (i might even take a drive this week to see if sledders are running the river that way). Otherwise it would be Chute de Blondeau, Pine hill, Lac des Seize Isles, Brebouf, Vendee (they have a small grocery store), Duhamel. Speaking of groceries if Vendee doesn't fancy anyones taste there is a huge Metro in Cheneville (with an SAQ) right on the trail. JG Sled always looks good defrosted.
  8. Steaaaaaaaaak.....helloooooo....we are men!!!
  9. I second that, lock down coral for the sleds, lock down coral for the rigs and cameras to boot. I stayed there on many occasions, unfortanately not with the wife, she gets motion sickness on the sled, could be a blessing in disguis but i miss having her there sharing the sport with me. Gouveneur...you can't go wrong bringing your love there...all the comforts for couples.
  10. After all those years riding and i've been riding with you for many of them, you tell me you never wished for something warm on your back seat?
  11. Vaud to ile bozo staked already

  13. One year i was passing through, there was a sign asking to pick up the emergency phone beside to pump and wait for someone to answer and tell them you want to buy gas and a few minutes later an ambulance shows up and the driver unlocks the pumps and you pay him for the fuel. Another year i had to go into the cafateria and pay for the gas in advance and at that time it was sold in 10 litre packages and you were given a code to unlock the pump. Another year i was sent to the administation office across from the caf and they called someone to pump. My guess if you really want to know how and who is selling gas there this year consult with the president of the snowmobile club in La Dore that is if you really want to know. My experience from the past and i did this trip 5 times i just rode into Scerie 54 and just simply asked to buy gas, cafateria, admin office or the emegency telephone...they are there to sell so it will be made known to you how to buy. In any case don't expect to ride in and ride out, it will take some time out've your day to buy gas there. Not saying the service is no good or they should'nt be there just the process takes time.
  14. As soon as the trails are in good shape. Oh...need to find something warm for the back seat too.
  15. Crossed to Pte. des Cascade today, stakes are up,ice shacks all over and people driving around in their cars. Rode up to Les Cedres, trail not so good i think it must have been the first time groomed this year. The ice on the other hand is very dark colored (blue,black)...this means we got good ice. :D
  16. ice scratchers for you lake man Not after this weekends snow Grumpy...still looking for a trailer?
  17. I'm sur Mont Apica will be open or the club will have come up with an alternative for fuel.
