  1. For people coming to the Gaspesie to sled that are not 100% familiar with the area it will be very useful. For example if a group were to be up there and a storm come in and a day is lost, it will be great for route options to see the area in the time the group has left. I can see it laid out on a bar table with 4 guys pointing at different loops saying lets do this one!! LOL
  2. I may have an extra map at home! LOL. I think I have one here from 1998, my first trip to the Gaspesie.
  3. I just finished looking through the Gaspesie Snowmobile Trail Booklet sent with the permit. BRAVO to Gaspesie Tourism!! This is a great, informative, comprehensive guide!! The booklet covers everything by region with good pictures and completely bilingual. For people that haven't snowmobiled much in the Gaspesie there is a section that shows 11 different loops that can be made in the region, the time it takes to do them and the total kilometers. What a useful little book. Best little book for snowmobilers I have seen in all of PQ. Thanks to you and Herriette for getting me the permit so quick.
  4. Merci Beaucoup, Mon Ami!! Picked this up at the post office today!! Let the snow begin!! Always glad to support your club, the trails are always excellent.
  5. Sounds good Mike, count me in. Maybe more people will hang with us than on the ride last year!
  6. No wonder I didn't get it, the picture was taken behind the warming hut! Maybe you should be grooming with one of those Bombadiers, you could charge for ride tickets and sell drinks along the way. Aaaaa maybe not, the trails would never get done, you would be doing moose tours in the Zec haha
  7. Could that be the bridge between the golf course and the Ranger station heading toward 8 Mile Lake? Doesn't look like the the picture was taken this past summer. LOL
  8. Looks like it is time to start checking lights and cleaning windows on the groomer!
  9. Sound like you have some good connections to be so knowledgeable of this establishment and region of Quebec. These poolside tables and chairs you have spoken of, would it be acceptable to sip a cocktail there after riding the the local trails??
  10. I have some Helly Hanson, Choko, and RU Outside base layers varing wieghts, all good quality. 90% of the time that is all I wear under my suit. When buying base layer the old adage is very true: "You get what you pay for"!! The good stuff is expensive. However when you pull out of Chibougamau and hit the rail line at -40° C/F it is worth it. When I do multiday snowmobile trips I always pack a couple different weight base layers, it is not good to be wearing super warm on a -5° day. I also try to never wear a base layer more than twice before washing it.
  11. Is there someone you know that has stayed at the Universal before and could be familiar with some local trails???
  12. I like riding into an area and seeing the overhead signs. That is a nice one.
  13. What amazing pictures!!! It was wild here in Nova Scotia too.
  14. $310 for a permit....the club buys a $180,000 groomer, smoothed the trails, builds bridges, and signs the trails!!! Not to mention having a nice warm clubhouse to stop and get warm. What a deal!!
  15. Yes gas there is high, but pushing a sled out of gas sucks!! LOL
  16. Trip one is always right around the first of January, i have even done New Years up there. The second is early February, and the third will be in March sometime depending on snow levels. I am lucky to be able to leave the house and be in the Gaspesie in only 4hrs driving time.
  17. I always smile when I see that Murdochville sign whether it from the road or the trail, a cool spot to visit.
  18. It is still early, but I bet many of us are starting to think about a Quebec trip already. A friend of mine, many of you have got to know as Diesel, called saying he has 10 days in early February. How many of you are talking to your sled Buddies picking dates for a multiday snowmobile adventures?
  19. Good timing, right before sled season!!
  20. Stayed there a couple years ago with Andyman and a couple other sledheads. Nice spot, looked like a very secure parking area too. The only negative I have on the place is lugging all your bags and gear up and down the elevator, a person always seems to get over heated.
  21. That is a big boat!!! Not many of them in New Hampshire Bill!! LOL
