  1. New York has been the hot bed of theft this year... It is a shame that all this equipment was lost. I think most of us know better than leaving all this stuff in a position to be so easily stolen. I mean come on your wallet money & passport in the vehicle... Hope it is recovered...
  2. Exactly this is the area we posted about before. 83 closed due to the fires...
  3. 4:36 AM...havin a hard time sleeping??? OR gettin ready to ride???
  4. 10-4 momo...sometimes a very little error can make a very bui difference. S of Gouin is really a place U don't want a problem... We traveled with GPS for the first time, in a situation as you described above it can be a lifesaver. Steve had one I ordered one when we got home. Still learning it but looking forward to using it. Garmin Zumo 550...
  5. Warranty issues in Canada with any manufacturer need to be paid & presented to your dealer when you get home. You usually have to fight because they overcharge in Canada. Polaris did reimburse in full once. It wasn't easy. Glad your XP is working well.
  6. Personally I think 83 going W was more desolate than 93 from Chig to LSJ...93 before Chib has some lonely stretches also... The highway that is ALWAYS there adds some comfort...
  7. We just did St Michael De Saints to Clova to Chibougamu to Lac Edward, to back to St Michael. 1235 in 4 days. Clova to Chib in 12 hours 395 mile day. That being said from Cing to Lac St Jean is an easy ride but mostly on a power line crossing the highway a lot. Do the loop if you are going that far North the 93 S/W of Chib is worth the price af admission. There is gas but you need to ride to towns to get it. We made Chig all the way to town without a full up. Tour Buddies are the answer. I would not take 2 days just to go to Chib...There is too much beautiful riding in The Valins to waste the 2 days.
  8. Cool Scranton...It would be one sled I am going to look at next time around. I hope they offer a 136" soon. I am going to get a chance to ride one soon, a buddy has one. Thanks...
  9. Yamaha needs to invest in some ski technology...Add a tour buddy to the Nirto and you are right there. Has he had any problems with the Nitro???
  10. OOPS!!! That is not good...
  11. I was lucky enuf to put some miles on an 600 SDI MXZ XP it was wonderful. Felt like I had been there all my life. Weightless like it was a mini sled... See the 09 release yet??? Doo Talk or Ski Doo site...1200 CC 4 stroke...
  12. I think the rear idler problem is from hot shoes tryin to wheelie...The other problems while nagging are most likely new model teething problems. Haven't heard of them just flat out stopping & leaving you stranded. I rode an XP 600 SDI MXZ and was very impressed with the feel of the machine. Only put a couple of miles on it but I felt like I had ridden it my whole life... Saw the releaae of the 09 4 stroke on Doo Talk...it is getting interesting.
  13. Hope it helps. That XP in your profile yours? Looks like it is set up nice. If so how has it been treating you?
  14. http://www.traversiers.gouv.qc.ca/index.asp At your service...
  15. My only wish is that I could spend more time in Quebec riding... I'll add my .02, most likely too often...
  16. Some general info here... http://www.tourisme-gaspesie.com/en/cartemotoneige.html
  17. Shane you need another day or two to not run around the place. Here is a link that might help...Have a safe trip. http://www.tourisme-gaspesie.com/en/cartemotoneige.html
  18. Sno: Yea but worth it. Had never done that loop and it was fun. The 93 from Senn... to Chub was so fast it helped a lot on the 400 mile day.
  19. The outfitter we talk to that gave us directions around told us it was closed...we went a short way down that section and there were washouts & trees down... Be interested in what they say when you call, let us know...
  20. Mid Range we never saw anything about closing till we got to the trail and there had been no one on it. I don't rember the name of outfitter (Balbuzard Sauvage) where we turned back but it is obvious when U get there. Basically rode the drive to main road to Lac Fallion and got gas & rode Quad trail 70 to Senneterre. I broke trail for about 20 klicks then it was groomed overall that trail was very good and no 4 wheelers had been on it. smclean...83 is closed for a stretch...
  21. I just got 16.4 MPG on my 05 600 SDI over a 1200 mile trip. What kind of mileage do the 500SS's get???
  22. Left from St. Michael-de-saints because it is secure & closer. Would rather be on sled than in truck. 1st day rode to Clova 360, 345, then a local trail they just opened, to 83. Once out of St Michael area trails were all good. 2nd day from Clova to Chibogamau. 50 klicks West of Clova 83 is CLOSED due to forest fire of this past Summer. We had to detour with directions from an outfitter at the spot trail closed. Rode on road for about 30 miles to Lac Fallon (sp) then Quad Trail 70 to Senneterre & got back on 83. 3rd day Chibogamau to Lac Edouard, trails on West side of Lac St Jean, from St Fellicien to Roberval were thin wind blown & boney, by far the least snow of the trip. 4th day Lac Edouard back to St Michael. GO and ride the Quebec riding has recovered from the rain and is waiting for use. Most places were A+ with plenty of coverage and all were groomed...
  23. Looks a lot like member #1... Fresh powder looks encouraging...
