  1. Yes the pics are all mine from The Sled Den.. We are in River-A-Claude which is the small town before Mont-Sainte-Pierre.. We call this area the B.C. of Gaspésie. Jack this kid should listen to his dad more..lol..
  2. This one is for the books. Rode in 4' of pow. Yep in November.. Got some videos and pics on my F.B The Sled Den... We have now done 4 rides this year. Its looking like a good season so far.. Jack
  3. Hi Jesse Here is a pic from 1pm. Not a speck here yesterday. There was already 1-2 feet above 2000'. A friend rode today and said it was 3-4 feet deep above 2000. Makes sense to me. Tomorrow we will see. Jack
  4. Yahooo were riding again. Rode Thursday and again on Sunday. After riding on Sunday we went hunting for birds. We got a partridge . Another off the bucket list. Hunting and sledding. Maybe I will get a Bear when we ride May 15. More on the site with a report and all. Jack
  5. I'm heading down in the hope that the little bit of snow they are calling for changes. They never got it wright last year..lol.. This year is looking like a great season. Hope that everyone gets snow. But you all know where the B.C. of Gaspésie is.. Loads of more cuts were made this year in the area. Lots more easy stuff to ride. Just flatter but up at 1800' where the snow starts to get deep. Hope you all get an early start this year so you can all burn large amounts of fossil fuels..lol. Hope to see some of you and if not ride hard but safe. Bookings are going fast. March is just about booked. But we ride till the end of April and if you really good you can ride in the trees till mid MAY or so.. Got the pics on my site. Check the sled den blog for May18-19. Jack Do You Ride The East ? I Do !!
  6. Sick Phil... I use to ride a 1974 3 cylinder 2-stroke. Up at the track at Mont Tremblant. Like back in 1979.. lol.. man I'm old.
  7. The Sled Den will be there. My wife son and I have people to meet.. We also have another reason. That's our sticker on Bobler's sled. And he's going to WIN !!
  8. Hi Tom and Bill. I will be videoing the stuff. Hope the videos turn out as good as some pics I have. For sure I will pass by and say hi Bill. Your on my list lol. Got so much work to do down there. Jack
  9. There's another big show in Epping N.H. Its the third weekend in Oct. Grass drags and water racing. Going with my son and WIFE. Yep that's what I said. lol. Were meeting sledding friends who live in N.H. Jack
  10. I bought my yammie in 2006..saw this on Yamaha and decided to put 15,000 $ into my sled.. We do not have enough open stuff for a heavy sled. My sled when under 10 mph it will sink just like a trail sled.. you are better off on a 2 stroke here in the Gaspésie.. 4-Strokes are for open areas like out west or trails. I rode my yammie this year once, in 3 feet of fresh pow.. it was great.. but in the thinner stuff its a bitch.. jack
  11. Tellus is the one.. My son uses his I-5 and it always has service when we are in the mountains.. Not in the valleys. No offence but Bell and Rogers suck.. jack
  12. Yep Linda... Got to love the end of March in the B.C. of Gaspésie.. After this ride March 29, we got 3-4 feet of POW the first week of April.. March break is April here.. Jack
  13. Its commin faster than you think..lol.. First freeze this year at 2500 meters.. 3 degrees at 2500' this weekend.. Yahoooooo.. Its going to be an early winter. Its not warm up in the mountains.. Jack http://www.mountain-forecast.com/peaks/Mont-Jacques-Cartier/forecasts/1268
  14. Why start where there s no snow.. The snow has been thin the last few years in the areas most people would start from. You should just start in Gaspésie.. Do the tour and then do the chic-choc trail.. the best ride in Quebec, If you don't start in Matane or R.D.L. you will have time to do the trail.. There is secure parking at The Sled Den. If you stay 2 nights like you would its free.. Otherwise its 50 $.. Your truck will also be cleaned of snow. Why ride where you might not have snow. Or for sure thin.. One rainy day and you could get stuck somewhere like some did on this site last year. They rode and then the rain took care of all the snow.. I saw some sleds come from the south by truck cause the snow was gone. Then we rode for another month and a half. I will guarantee you snow at The Sled Den.. We had tons this year. We rode trails from the beginning of Dec to the Middle of April.. The north shore of the Gaspésie is the B.C. of Gaspésie... We ride above 2000' from Beginning of Nov till Mid May or so.. Rode May 19 on a 4-5 foot base at 2000'. It just makes more sense to start in snow and if you have time then just ride more in the gaspe..Its a 3 day ride from The Sled Den to Murdochville then La Cache ,and then back to The Sled Den. This is the 5 then you take the 595 which is the chic-choc trail.. The trails on the north shore of Gaspésie have switch backs and turns with cliffs.. You will not ride fast here. The Gaspe tour is a must. Its about a 4-5 day ride when you leave from where we are. But exploring the backcountry roads is what Gaspésie is all about.. You can do trails at home.. Here they let you ride off the main trails.. Explore all the different roads and logging roads that you are not aloud to ride legal in most of Quebec. If you would like to have info on where to stay, just send me an e-mail. .Check my site and see the reports for the snow conditions in the time frame you are going.. I have condition reports for the whole season.Every day when we rode and also no more than 3 days between reports. Yes they are not stretched..lol.. no need to... Heres a pic of me on the 18th of may..Ya theres 4-6 inches of new snow..
  15. I am disapointed in the way the Quebec trail system is run by the clubs and the Government. 4 sleds I pay for. 2 Never ever go on trails. I do this to support snowmobilling in the area I am in..I dont like to waste money. But I will be re-thinking this cause of all the crap that keeps commin up when we talk sledding in Quebec. Now I know why they always say except in Quebec..lol.. This province for sledding has lost sooo much in the last 10 years. I see more people now giviing up on the trail system. I just wonder when they will come after us inj the mountains for some stupid reason. You guys will have to get skandics or mountain sleds. Then you might not put miles on..but snowmobilling use to be breaking trail and going by maps and GPS.. HEY...Sounds like a gaspe snowmobile adventure to me..lol...Jack Good luck guys and gals cause its going to be a long winter if you all end up on the same trail system..
  16. SO ????.. Why didn't he do a jump or wheelie like most people do.Yes sleds do go in the air at 140ks ..lol..They need to work off the trail on uneven ground too. I like the ones I use cause I can drive off the trail with them on anytime and then do stuff off trail and jumps. They never brake.. I need to see these do that before I would recommend them. The ones I use and cable ones can do this. Just the ones I have....have no reverse....jack
  17. I am checking into the hunting. Tons of Partridge all over the place.. And they are stupid.. My son tried to hit 2 with a rock on the road. For bear.. I think most hunt on bait. This seems to be a Quebec thing. I walk the cuts looking for track and also glass the area when walking. You can see so much more with them. Even when in the woods.. Binoculars make you see further into the trees too. . In full cameo. Yep face and all . Also with scent killer . I have bear scent sticks that I walk with and burn when the wind is wright. They come to me..lol.. ..I also do distress calls and bear calls. I use a jack rabbit distress call for when I hunt bear and coyote. I think calls are more exciting. You should see how bears charge the call sometimes. If you do all this and watch the wind and it smells like them and not you, they will come. No one hunts like that here. Americans know how to hunt.Moose do the same if you are good. I never sit unless for deer. They are more predictable and don't respond all the time to calls unless in the week or 2 of the rut. Even then they are afraid not like a bear or moose who fear nothing in the woods. I also don't use guns much. Get a bigger rush when on the ground with just a bow. Have them but only hunt ducks and birds.. My son uses my 270 for moose and bear.He got his hunters card at 12.My wife has one too. When I use a gun to hunt big game I use a shot gun with slug barrel with scope mounted high so I can also see with iron sites when I walk through the bush. Its dead on for 100 yards. But I am an Indian..lol.. also use a crossbow when I walk in the woods sometimes in bow season. Mostly bow. Have shot a few Deer when walking in the woods during Deer. I had a fishing hunting store with a friend. He ran the store I guided for fishing and Hunting.8 years of that. Got a Rangerbass boat with a 200hps on it. Stored now for 2 years. No time..lol.. Used it for the probass circuit I use to fish for 15 years .Also with my kids.I fished a Pro-bass Quebec tournament with my daughter when she was 12. Lost some good fish but we still came in 6th.We caught 40-50 bass in the 2-2.3 lbs range. Did I mention fishing in the ocean from shore. Sea run specs that run 6-8 pounds. Oh the salmon. And in August the Mackerel one after the other from shore. Great on light tackle. The Sled Den at gaspesnowmobileadventures.com is going to just get bigger every year. Like I said. I need lots of friends to play with when I go down there to retire. For me this means doing what you want. I love to have fun and entertain people. Have been like this always. Ask anyone who knows me. Have a good summer guys and yes Linda girls too.. lol.. The pics are up for the last ride from the weekend. Yes this past weekend.. JACK
  18. Heres a pic from the last ride this weekend. Rode in 4-6 inches of new snow. Then bluebird sky on Sunday. Not fishing on this site or any other. I have done reports like this since I have been with Hardcore sledder and also on TY Yamaha.. I have been friends with Allain towing for more than 5 years and have made reports just like him..For no reason .. Just the kind of guy I am..I would say 90% of you people on this site will never come to my place.. Unless you just stay over one night. Many of you have already stayed 8ks from my place this year and never really thought of staying here.. You also know its more for backcountry riding or mountain riding. I still posted for the trail and snow conditions.I do this to retirer in Gaspésie.. I will be with dirt bikes, side by sides, atvs, and also bear hunting next year. . I get groups for 3-6 days. For most trail riders its all about millage. Not the views.Yes you can see the views from a trail but nothing like in the backcountry.. Where I took trail riders this year. Have a great summer everyone and I shall be back on with snow pics by the end of November.. maybe earlier.. jack This says it all.. 100 yard run on gravel to the snow..
