  1. Ski Doo has a new bag this year. It’s called the dry bag. It takes up one LinQ location and is 40L. https://www.ski-doo.com/shop/Accessories/storage_racks/linq_system/linq-dry-bag---40-l-rev-gen4-and-xu.html
  2. There are quite a few credit cards that do not charge the transaction fees. Capital One for instance does not charge.

    Kanawata

I was last there in 2017/18 season. Open and gas. It still shows up on via explora/iMotoneige so I’m assuming it is still open. We generally have 6 sometimes 7 guys and end up in one of the cabins. Rustic but comfortable. We have never stayed in the main lodge rooms. Food is good.
  4. As a side business, my wife and I have a boat canvas shop. Other than new canvas, we get a lot of requests for alterations to an existing canvas. What seems simple to the customer, isn’t quite as simple as it looks in most cases. Besides shortening to the desired length, and re-hemming, snaps need to be removed and replaced, zippers need to be removed, shortened, replaced. Velcro, removed, shortened, replaced. Reinforcements may need to be installed to support the new fastener locations. Since you have Klim bibs, and Klim sports the Gore Tex name, it will need to adhere to whatever standard Gore Tex imposes on Klim to use their name. Not that you want to spend more money on an already expensive set of bibs, I’m just letting you know that there is quite a bit more to it than what most people would think.
  5. You’ll have a blast. Your new person will enjoy it. They’ll be planning the next trip on the way home.
  6. Great read as always! Safe travels home and to ZRDL in a couple weeks.
  7. M20 is a really nice ride. Definitely worth it.
  8. ^^^ Real Masse, excellent food! Steak👍
  9. Food is very good. I never heard of a sled getting stolen from their corral. They close/lock it at night, I don’t recall the time, 10 or 11. They open it at 7. I wouldn’t leave your sleds in the trailer out in the truck trailer compound. Although they watch it, it would not be hard for someone to walk in, unload it and ride it out. Load up the morning that you leave, not the night before.
  10. You will have no problem keeping yourself entertained in that area. You can spend a day each going East, North, and West...probably South by the time you leave. Grab a map and pick your route for the day. LeCabanon will have plenty of maps at the front desk. Pretty easy to do loops to whatever you want for miles. Make sure to include some of the orange local trails too.
  11. LaBannik is very nice. Many of the cabins have a private outdoor hot tub. Lac Faillon is also very good.
  12. Things may change over the next few days, but if I were making the call right now, it would be the Abitibi area. Most trails are open and in good shape according to Sledmagazine.com. As suggested by Snowmaster, Rouyn-Noranda. It is about the same drive time from Toronto as it would be to Mont Laurier. By far and away the areas with the most trails open are Abitibi and Saguenay. https://sledmagazine.com/actions/showConditionsSentier?request_locale=en http://fcmq.viaexplora.com/#map
  13. Absolutely AWESOME adventure. Looking forward to your next edition.

    GPS

Agree. I use the Garmin Montana that I bought used from a guy on this forum with Trak Maps. Trak Maps works great. You do not need to be a computer Wiz to download the maps to your PC/Mac and install them into your GPS. The subscription to the map/s of your choice often have a sale going that will save you about $20. You can also download any map updates for a year. Just check the change log to see if there are any from time to time. If you think about it, and buy a map about this timeframe, you can download a new update a year later and you’d get two years out of it.
  15. I have the Uclear Amp Pro from last year. They worked great in the BV2S. Helmet to helmet you needed to speak up due to the breath box. I just moved them to our new Oxygen helmets last night and tested. They worked even better due to no breath box. I stitched the microphones in on the cheek pads. Some put them in on the brow. I also removed the ear muffs and stuck the speakers on the existing Velcro where the ear muffs were. Uclear has two new models that replace the Amp Pro, Motion 6 for up to 6 communicators, and Motion Infinity for I guess an infinite number. As far as mounting, they look like it’s pretty much the same as the Amp Pro.
  16. Exactly right! Part of the food, not necessarily at the top,
  17. We saw a big wolf on the same trail back in 2015. That was the last time we were up that way. We’ll be there again in early February. Can’t wait! A buddy of mine and I had a big male jump out on to the trail a few years back between Manawan and Repos. He was 30’ in front of us. Nonchalantly stood in the trail looking at us, then just meandered into the forest. Later over a beer we discussed breaking down after dark and walking down the trail to turn around to a few sets of eyes following you! I guess once you get off your sled you could become part of the food chain.
  18. Pretty much takes 63 West of 386 out of play for many saddlebaggers. Long ride to Belleterre or Ville Marie from Maniwaki or Mont Laurier. We rerouted up to Val d Or when we found out that Truite Lac Lodge wasn’t going to be open.
  19. You have me having second thoughts now. I just retired at the end of June, and my best buddy and riding partner is retired as well. Stupid me, I’m starting a new job after the first of the year. Feel like I need to work for another few years.
  20. I ordered my season about a month ago, so it is not fresh in my decay memory. Pretty sure that you can print out your paperwork that you can show if stopped. More than half of our gang gets the 7 day permit as they only go up once a winter. I told them to wait until the last few days before we leave to make sure we don’t change the dates due to the weather...or something else.
  21. Comfort Inn in Mont Laurier to Forestel in Val d Or is 292 miles. That’s our day 1 this year. We did this in 2015. It was a cold day, about -20 F. We lost a couple hours that day with a couple guys shields fogging constantly, and a gauntlet/throttle incident at La Verendrye. With all that and leaving Mont Laurier about 8:00, we got settled in at Forestel In time for the second half of the Super Bowl. If it weren’t for the set backs, we would have made it for the whole game. Definitely doable.
  22. As far as I can tell there is nothing along 43. With La Verendrye and Truite Lac with no lodging this year, nothing along 63 without a big mile day as well. What is your basic loop look like?
  23. Chris is a top notch guy. I’ve had several conversations with him over the past few months. I would send him an email with questions I had, not expecting a reply until that evening or the next day, and no sooner did I hit send, my phone would ring with Chris on the other end. Very knowledgeable and a lot of fun to talk to about sleds. My wife got to the point of asking if Chris was a male or female, lol. If you are looking for tune information and help, or needing tools to work on a Ski Doo, Chris is your guy! Probably kudos are due to his wife as well. I believe her name is Tammy(?), she makes sure that your orders are fulfilled.
  24. Can your dealer assign a registration number to you ahead of time? I had mine in NY do that as it was getting close to the Dec. 9 early bird deadline on my last sled. You could use the plate number from your last sled, then do a transfer when you get your new sled? It will cost you $30, but it is an option.
  25. Do a couple components each day on the new 2020 Renegade.Today HyGear dual rate springs and the High Beam LEDs. Tomorrow, glovebox extension, GPS, and tunnel scratchers. Quebec Pass should be arriving any day. Trailer is greased, new brakes installed, registered, and inspected. My wife’s 900 Enduro and Daughters 600 ACE were put away ready to go. A little closer each day. A few more enjoyable hours to go.
