Hi Jean Guy

Yes I like your TQ5 sign better and to be truthful I prefer our weather in the winter. I hope this farmer issue gets settled so we can enjoy ALL the great Quebec trails.

That's a very handsome shirt, Andyman. I hope to see it on the trail this winter.

Don't get too accustomed to the balmy weather. Steel yourself for the rigors ahead on the trails of La Belle Province.

The only problem is if I take this shirt along I won't have room for anything else! There is about 10 yds of material in it.LOL

Andy

That shirt looks like one that would fit Mubs more than you!! :drinks:

Should I say that before my GPS is reloaded??

Hell Mubs you and I could fit in this puppy!!!

hi timbo !!

if my memory is good, for sure the coldest morning in my area since i m alive.years ago ,i ve seen -38/-40 but never that cold.

during winter 97 ,while working for challenge kanada ,we left val dor for senneterre ( off the trail ),we stopped on a lake to ask for info.2 elderly persons we're fishing inside a little shack.the man told us that it was -50c that morning.he offered us coffee ,but we had to go.

i still remember that the seat of my sled was hard like cement when we left val dor.

Next time it is that cold...........have a cup of coffee, eh??

By the way, were they catching any fish??? LOL.

Coldest ever for me was that same area in Abitibi, but was the winter of 91-92 I believe. Thad and I were riding with the girls on a cross country trip. Came in from Parent and spent the night in Senneterre. Left the next morning for Joncas (the old, pre-fire lumber camp Jonacas) via Belleterre. It took us 2 hours to get all 4 of those old indy's running. When we pulled into a gas station at around 7:30 AM the old boy showed us his thermometer as we were paying for our gas. It was -42 F.

Woke up one morning in the mid 90's at Lac du Repos to find the thermometer at -42 "C". Was riding with the boys. We stoked-up the pot-belly in the cabin and waited till mid-morning to leave......after it was a balmy -34 "F".

It's all good. See you in a few weeks, Jean-Guy!

ha !! ha !! no coffee for us .we were in a hurry.what happened ,the guy who was guiding us ,from rouyn to senneterre ,made the '' circuit '' with a plane.once on the ground ,woow ,the guy was completly lost.we were supposed to take 3 days max to go to senneterre.we took 7 or 8 .doing the road book was slow.

one morning ,we left metabetchouane (lsj ) for auberge le relais (laurentides reserve).right at the beginning ,broke a suspension arm on my wide track.it was a sunday, time to find somebody to weld it ,lost a lot of time.met our guides a few miles south around 1 pm.started to ride and the guides realized it was slow to do the roadbook.one of them said, must go to the airport ,my friend is going to james bay.

they left us on a lake (lac a la carpe ) and said :laurentides reserve ,right in front!!ha !! ha !we did roughly 8 miles on that lake.we landed in a narrow trail.then a few hrs later ,we met guys from the canadian army on a lake(lac des ecorces ) .they gave us gas+ food.they said it was around -40c that night.me and my friend did nt have watches ,so i guess we left around 11 pm

when we left ,my friend was in front, saw his headlight going down.he had forgotten again to put injection oil ,4x.his motor was running like a piano !!

i opened the trail all the time, so much snow ,ice up to the half of the clutch.could nt steer the sled.then carburators froze.no luck to fix it.left the throttle wide open ,only using the kill switch to give a chance to the motor.we landed at a camp around 2 am.next morning ,planes were looking for us.

landed at the intersection of road 169/175( phone boot ) around noon.stopped there for a very quick lunch, then go for manoir richelieu!! just awesome !!! the last 2 weeks were very rough, not much time to sleep.crazy adventure !!!

sorry for the long post !! thanks for sharing your story, liked it!!

hi timbo !!

found the pic,but because windows are too small on the shack, very hard to see the lady !!

pic 1 : lac de montigny in val dor ,the day before going to senneterre.returned on the lake to take a ''way point '' with my compass.can see it was very cold, steam coming out of the seat.

p2 ;clubhouse in val dor

p3 :map of laurentide reserve.the black line ,coming from lsj.north-west side ,last lake is '' lac a la carpe ''.you should be able to see where i ve written ',armée '' and the camp where we spent the night.

from the camp to the intersection of road 169/175 ,there was 22 miles if i remember well.
