It is my understanding the Doo DESS can't be bypassed. Also SkiDoo has a great computer system and you can have your dealer enter the VIN as a stolen sled. The thief needs to go to a dealer to get a new DESS key and have it programmed to the sled with the computer.

At least that is how I understand it.

Well since sleds in general disappear at an alarming rate it is not unreasonable to assume that many are not just stripped for parts but rather re registered and resold. That takes a more organized ring and that then poses the question, could a dishonest dealer or theft ring have and use the dess software to reprogram stolen sleds?
