  1. I've had a set of premier reima gore-tex bibs and jacket for years...top notch. Also got a pair of choko bibs...very impressive and comfortable for cold riding...hard to beat the quality for the price.
  2. What is it with that area...seem to be an abnormal amount of fires.
  3. Even though it was free to s.a.m. members I said the same also about the springfield show. Last year was very disappointing.....in 15 minutes you covered everything offered.
  4. Tell your brother i 'll take at least 3 days just to make the border from here provided you still have a sled left in one piece to ride.
  5. Anything is possible...i don't think the trails in the berkshires are all that much better, at least the southern ones. It'd take a day or longer just to get to the vermont border from sandisfield, ma. not including any sled repairs on those bone riddled goat trails. Sure be a lot of fun trying though.
  6. I guess desperate snowmobilers sometimes have to resort to desperate measures. This is truly priceless.
  7. I have a buddy with an 08 one....has over 8k miles on his already...been flawless. As far as getting 18-20 mpg...more like 16. He rides mostly in the Forge region of NY and Quebec. Real nice sled.
  8. Heck of a rats nest...ought be fun cutting that mess loose.
  9. Yeah...even more amazing...how everything in that area seems to burn.
  10. I just happened to read this thread and found it interesting. The same happened to a friend back nearly 20 years ago while up in Quebec riding. We were all stopped for registration checks near Saint Gabriel...all sleds were fully registered in the states along with having the Quebec trail pass. One of our guys however had a Connecticut dealer plate that he used to get the Quebec trail pass with. Well that didn't fly with PD up there. As hard as he tried to explain he was a dealer, and that was a legal plate in Ct....they told all of us no exceptions you had to have the sled registered as any vehicle in some state if coming from the U.S. or you will likely be fined. As far as I know thats the way it still is up there. A Quebec trail pass only provides the rights to their trail system. You still need to have a complete valid registration from somewhere to apply for the pass so all the proper info can be filled out.
  11. We use to take the same basic route around the lake except staying in Dolbeau and eventually heading through local trails to Saint Ludger de Milot and continue on those trails to Mount Valins. Those trails provide some awesome country side riding and are usually groomed to perfection.
  12. I stopped by sunday....a few of us were standing around checking the booth out but no one seemed to be manning it at the time. The whole show in general was so small this year that we left after twenty minutes or so.
  13. About time. We have stayed at some these so called hotels that made the list noting they were not any more secure than others not on the list...matter of fact one year two of our guys had their sleds stolen along with trailers belonging to other snowmobile parties broken into.
  14. For what its worth...i have the large size...i'm a 35-36'' waist..fit is pretty good once the straps are adjusted.
  15. Yeah...like a senior citizen discount. Could be on to something.
  16. Not sure about the cordura bibs, but i've had the choko deluxe nylon bibs for a few years now....probably accumulating at least 10k miles on them also. I'm about 6'2'' at 220 lb. and they fit perfect. Imo...dollar for dollar compared to other bibs owned these have been by far the best in a wide range of temps.
  17. Wouldn't be the covered bridge on one of the local trails just south of Saint Jovite?
  18. Not sure what sled dealer is next to motel des 10 that i can recall....but motel des 10 is located in grand mere.
  19. Still wonder if the neighborhood feud is going on between the two.
  20. ..Ouch..appears someone has blowed up. Brings back memories of an episode near LaTuque 15 years ago when my indy 500 said no more....picture looks identical.
  21. Weird...that section has been very nice everytime we have hit it.... TQ73 from La Tuque to Relias 22 has had some nasty sections time to time..especially with skinny snow conditions. Sometimes long sections of TQ83 from relias 22 to St. Hedwidge-de Roberval get pretty wooped up to. Not sure about last few years but consistently the worst trail wev'e been on is 345 from Manawan to Repos. TQ33 in the same area hasn't been great at times also.
  22. Yeah..it really doesn't matter where in the states your registered as long as you have proof somewhere it is before entering Canada.
  23. I've been using the oem deluxe bags polaris sells...fit good..enough room..no issues with durability
  24. Thats for sure...could remember our first trip around lac st. jean in 86...seemed very special at the time..many folks up there were susprised we could ride that kind of distance without being somewhat concerned about sled problems. Most of the other guys i know were riding the st. zenon trail system...to this day they still do.
  25. I think most vehicles built over the last several years now run 5-30 wt oil all season round. Excellent advice about the dry gas...had it happen to me one year filling up at a less than local station...must of ended up with a load of water..i didn't think i needed any dry gas at the time. Next morning it was -30...trucks fuel line was frozen solid and refused to start. Spent an extra hour or so trying to thaw it out with a bullet heater.
