We have Wednesday to Tuesday so hopefully the weather is favorable. I have never been east of Tadousac , looking forward to some new scenery . Anyone have suggestions on where to stay on the way out and back. We like to ride around 250 miles a day. Accommodations do not need to be fancy, just need a bar , good food and a bed. Appreciate any info.

Jack, 3 of us planning that same trip. Starting from Drakkar on 3/6. Based upon what you have seen, do you think there will be any problem reaching Sept Isles?

Great topic and feedback. I was seriously thinking of buying one , now I will stick with the Modular that has never let me down. On my third one and I wish they could have just made some tweets to the same helmet. It's hard to give up what works and go to a new unproven product. By the sounds of it, waiting for the revised unit is the way to go on this one.

The most mileage I ever did (and I wont do it again) was back in 1996. That was back when you just had a paper map and some promise's from someone you met at a bar. Two of us were in Chibougamau and found out we needed to cut the trip short and return home. We talked to some guy at the Hotel Boug. that told us about a trail going directly south to obedjiwan through a logging camp and on through to Clova. Riding two new Mach Z's with extra gas, we took the trail (beautiful and desolate) gas at the logging camp, gas at the Indian reservation and on to the Tamerack. After a few of beers with Andre' and on to Parent, then stopped for the night at Fer'a'Cheval. That was over 400 miles. One of those trips you always remember and wonder what would have happened if we broke down?? Since then I always look for that trail and haven't seen it, I did the loop up to obedj. and around to Gouin a couple of years ago. Another trail you don't want to have problems on. Now I do 250 miles and think that is plenty.........Older , Wiser, ?? Maybe. Sorry for the spelling .....

Ditto to what you said Cnc, the day before the storm I read that ........fill in the area is forecasted for 12" of snow, the day after I cannot find out what the actual snow fall amounted to. Sure would be nice to know if that area where you are wanting to ride in received the snow you were hoping for .

Is there a site where one can go to see actual snow falls after a particular storm on a map of Quebec? I can see what was forecasted, but haven't been able to find what actually happened . THANKS to anyone fore the help

I've been there many times, First visit in 1996. 'Boots Off In The Entryway' was the rule and it continues as new owners have taken over. Take a pair of heavy socks with you if the slippers are not your style . The cabins are pretty nice and the food has always been good. The current owners are very nice even though not overly gracious. I would stay there without hesitation.

I apologize for any redundancy in asking this question, but my dilemma is ; First, are the trail conditions out of Shawinigan O.K., I have reservations at Drakkar this Monday and plan to hit the trail Tuesday. Second, are the trail conditions better to the east or north? Original plan was to go east and ferry across to Matane and loop around the area, Secondary plan would be to go toward LSJ and then loop up around Chiboug. and loop east and back around to Parent and such. I am very familiar with the second scenario , not much with the first. I haven't been east of Tadousac and never to the Gaspe area. I would love to hear any comments in regard to the conditions and general thoughts. 4 of us riding and all experienced. Thanks.

Florida Snowman, Have stayed at Togwotee in the past. This year we decided to stay in Jackson Hole where there was more night life. Stayed at Spring Creek Ranch, Highly recommend the place. Excellent two room suits and a great bar/restaurant on location. Always go to Brooks for one of the days lunch stop. The rest of the time we pack and eat out in the snow.

Just returned from Jackson Hole and the Teton National Region where I was able to leave off a couple of the Icemans stickers . You might find one in the men's room of the Cowboy Bar and the SilverDollar. The rental company wasn't keen on me sticking one to the plastic on the Summit 850 165 I was riding. What a beast that thing is! Unbelievable snow and scenery and unlimited riding areas with no other traffic in the high bowls and steep terrain. Now I am looking forward to my Quebec trip but a bit disappointed to read about the possible trail access closures. I love the Quebec trail system and hope this can come to pass. Hi ICEMAN, I met you a few years ago at a resturant that did not serve beer, you were very helpful in giving one of us a ride to the liquor store so we could have our beverage of choice with our meal. Anyway, wondering if you could send me a couple of your stickers, I am heading to Jackson Hole in three weeks where I could find a interesting spot to display one, then off to Panama where I could stick one on a canal boat. Loved seeing the vintage pictures of the race sleds. Brought back memories of my 71 Alouette 340 with the stinger out the side. ran that sled for three years before stepping up to the TNT 440 free air. I thought that was the best that snowmobiles could get until trading for a new Blizzard 5500. So many sleds, where did the years go ? Thanks again for the memories.

Sorry for the 'wrong region' topic. Anyway, Starting Nomininque and taking 63 through Saint-Zenon. Trappeur is about the right amount of miles for the first day when there are always some issues. Some of our crew haven't been on their sleds at all this year. Next day east to Baie-Saint-Paul, then thinking maybe Forestville and then on to Auberge 31. Is there a different place than the Hotel in Baie-Saint-Paul?, We like the outfitters, I just haven't run across any right in that area before.

Can anyone comment on this place? I stopped there a few years ago while passing through and now I am thinking it is in the right location for a overnight. Any info is appreciated. Auberge du Trappeur on 23

I was very disappointed to hear of this theft, hadn't heard too much of this in the last few years. The story hit home as this did happen to our group when we left a new F350 diesel and trailer in Saint Agathe. Returned from our 5 day run only to not see his truck/trailer. My truck was 4 years old and was only broken into. No matter what the theft is, it makes you smoking mad and wanting revenge. This was back in 1999 and was a real wake up call. From that time on, we take many precautions and are always vigilant in trying to make it as hard as possible for the low life's. Every time I return to my truck after a trip, a sigh of relief comes over as I see the rig sitting there. I feel the pain of anyone violated by thieves , it happens all the time everywhere, not just Quebec.

Two weeks ago I arrived at the border only to realize I had forgotten my passport. My passenger gave me his bleak outlook on my chances of getting through. Well, I was there so trying it was what I did. I explained my stupidity and asked permission to visit their beautiful country as I handed over my regular NY drivers licence along with truck and trailer registrations. The (cute gal) border agent said that she could see that I have been crossing several times a year for many years. So I guess they can obtain a lot of info from your licence. Long story short is that they let me through and said to have a good time . She also said not to do that again. Getting back across was more or less the same. THANK YOU SNOW GODS and the border agents at the Champlain crossing! This could have been a real bad experience .

6 of us stayed there last year. It is only for Hydro-Quebec people but if you get the right person at the gas bar you may have some luck. We have been staying there since 1995. Great times with Andre' and the rough crowd from the reservation. Had the whole place to ourselves including the bar , pool table, and wood stove. Even had our choice of rooms so we took our favorites in the front. Sure do miss Andre' .
