  1. Has anyone ridden the orange trail from Carleton/Nouvelle area to La Cache? What’s it like? Do they groom it? Doing some planning for our Gaspe trip in March (our 8th to the region). Thought we might try some new terrain. Appreciate any first hand experience from prior years. Bring on the snow. Russ
  2. Thanks. Friday we went straight down 3 instead of taking the 383because of the new snow. Had a great day on 9" of ungroomed snow all day.
  3. There is plenty of snow in this region if you’re thinking of a trip. The new snow will reinforce the base. The exception is near La Malbaie, the snow in some of the fields was thin, very wet, and brown. It will go quick with a warmup. We will start in Escoumins or Forestville next time and shoot for Havre St Pierre, and try some of the local trails. Planning Abitibi for next year-always weather permitting.
  4. Powder day today. Left Escoumins and had second tracks. 12-18” snow. Ungroomed almost all day. Great way to end!
  5. Two nights at the Richelieu-first and last. A favorite of ours.
  6. Great day, great trails. Timmy Hortons for lunch twice in one trip. Snow held off until 2:30 and by 3:30 it was a whiteout. Powder day today. The 850 Renegades will be breaking trail. Destination Fairmont Richelieu via the 383/83.
  7. Does anyone know if there is gas on the 383 from Tadoussac ferry drop to the 301 local trail? The map says gas in Baie-Sainte-Catherine, Petit Saguenay, and L’Anse-Saint-Jean but I don’t recall gas a few years ago.
  8. Great day yesterday. Road up to the Mosie River to check out the white trail. Next time we’ll head to Havre St Pierre. Picked up the women at the hotel and headed for Baie Comeau. Great riding, great snow. Loved the twisty hills with the soft snow. Gas station lunch again-two times in one trip, a record. Storm coming in this afternoon. Will set us up for a powder day Friday in Charlevoix.
  9. Hi Johnny-We decided on this trip because Trish raved about it. Having a great time. The Fireball nips are a staple on the trips. Russ
  10. Trails were a 10 again today. Some bumps in places but not enough to rate. The hills started about 20 miles out of Baie Comeau. There were a few roller coaster sections where you couldn’t see over the peak. You had to pay attention here. Half of our group loved the hills. The other half loved the wide open trails for the last 100 miles. Some are headed up to see the white trail early before we return to Baie Comeau.
  11. Playing off trail and stuck before 9...
  12. Can’t seem to load more than one pic at a time. Any suggestions?
  13. Beautiful ride from Les Escoumins to Baie Comeau. Trails were a 10. Add blue skies and it was a great day. Wide open riding to Forestville. Soft snow but freshly groomed. The trails had 2-3’ banks in places. It was twisty after Forestville in and out of power lines for a while. Still great snow. It opened up just before Baie Comeau. The big bridge reminded us of a roller coaster. One of the machines was hesitating at speed so we spent an hour at the dealer. Great dealer-they were going to work on it overnight and gave Arthur a ride home. Such service! Stayed at the Manoir last night. Nice place. Sept Iles tonight. Looking forward to seeing these hills.
  14. Started at the Richelieu. Lots of snow. We hit stutter bumps from the warm weather most of the way to Les Escoumins. When combined with the tight tight and twisty trails we were happy to have a short day. We did go down the Pelchat Trail for a bit and it was great to have a wide open run. Russ stepped off the trail to see how deep the snow was-not sure he reached the ground. Lots of snow in the woods. New territory tomorrow as we head to Baie Comeau. Pam and Russ
  15. We’ve been riding Quebec for more than 15 years but never done Cote Nord. Six of us are off in the morning on this new adventure. Starting at the Richelieu-love this place. Will post pictures. Russ and Pam
  16. We've stayed there a few times over the years. It is our preferred lodging in the La Tuque area. The food is good.
  17. The lodging in that area is in Mont St Pierre. There are two places, Hotel Motel Mont St Pierre and Au Delice. Both have a limited number of rooms. The next option is 40+ miles away. You might want to book that night.
  18. Six of us are headed up to Cote Nord Saturday. Starting at the Fairmont Richelieu and turning around in Sept Iles. We have heard great things about the snow and the scenery. We should be posting nightly.
  19. Congratulations! Glad your wife was able to overcome her challenges and get back to the things she loves.
  20. Great to hear the snow conditions are fantastic. Love the off trail experience. Our group of 6 is really looking forward to this trip! Saturday can't come soon enough. Keep the posts coming! Pam and Russ
  21. Planning a trip to Côte Nord in a week. Has anyone ridden to the Fairmont Richeleau? How is the snow ? We’re headed to Tadoussoc-I presume the snow is good on Rte 3. Thanks
  22. We'd love to hear a trail report. We hear there is a lot of snow up there. We're starting at the Richelieu. Cote Nord will be a first for us. Looking forward to it.
  23. It is a great trip for the women. The riding is wide open. The Auberge du Ravage is top notch but be forewarned-it's pricy Add in the Fairmont Richelieu and she'll want to go every year!
  24. Try Diamox next time. Prescription diuretic. We always take it when skiing out west. Cote Nord for us in 2 weeks.
  25. There is a big relais with gas at Mt Apica. It is cash only. FYI- There is an overlook 1/2 mile north of the relais. The view is great on a nice day.
