Have been waiting to reply to this for some time now. I have gone back and re read all of the comments here and agree with most and totally disagree with some like this one. We all ride differently and in different areas. I personally (nothing new for me) have had more than a dozen rides this season alone where I do not see ANYONE for 100 miles or MORE. And when I do it sometimes results in a “holy shit” moment. Being a “remote bush basher” I have always felt a moral obligation (to the best of my ability) to signal others while running these remote areas. In towns and busier areas is a WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY and my outlook is vastly different.
I have known about the RideLites for years and this year knowing I was going to be doing more big solo rides was the time to get one. As another poster mentioned “these machines are getting faster and more capable” and I for one admit IM NOT. Anything that can make mine or another riders ride more safe than I’m all for it.
i am extremely pleased with it and it’s durability so far. My moral obligations are met, no lifting hands off bar and I feel I have done my duty while keeping both YOU and I as safe as possible. I still run into the occasional group in the bush who feels they don’t have (or want) to signal and to you I say “piss off” but most realize the importance and where they are riding and do signal.
So while the above commenter said “they should ban RideLites” .........this is my take........
if I was “King” for the day I would immediately pass a law that all manufactures have one mounted on the sled upon build.
i would also make it mandatory while riding remote areas with long stretches of “nothing in between” to have and use one. I could care less if someone is behind them and they don’t know it. Because that person too would have one on and it would be self explanatory.
again this is all just my opinion
You miss the whole point of my comment, you should always be riding right weather someone is coming or not. If you are having holy shit moments then someone is riding down the middle of the trail or on the wrong side. Pass so many sleds the are just running the middle of the trail and cutting corners off.

How about anyone who’s been as far as Sept Isles? What was it looking like up TQ3 from say Escoumins?
Was up all week, tons of snow . We made it 80 miles in on the trail to HSP. Lots of drifts . Trails were all really good early week. We've been riding out of Pelchat last few days.

Do they ever groom this trail? We tried the trek from Sept Isle today and we're unsuccessful at about mile 85. No tracks to follow and extreme conditions.

We started last March in Todoussac stayed a the hostel left trailer there for the week. Address is 158 Rue du Bateau its a red building right as you leave the ferry. We went all the way to Havre Sait Pierre. We did not book ahead as there are plenty of places to say in Baie Comeau and Sept Iles. Very cool place to ride no traffic lucky to see a trapper or two that's about it.
How long did it take, and how many miles?

Looking for some input on trips people have taken, we will be riding for 8 days on North Shore (2/7-2/15).
Looking for a safe starting point for the truck and one that allows us to go the farthest east, would like to make it to at least Saint-Pierre
Also do we need to book rooms ahead of time or just go? Not sure how much lodging there is in this area?
Thanks in advance . -

Do you know where it is closed? There appears to be a few orange trails that may go around?
-
So as of now there is no way around? Can someone mark the location of the closure?
thanks

We are looking to ride from the pelchat complex east to St Pierre in 3 weeks, are you saying there is no way through?

I use a NorthFace waterproof duffel. 31L Very rugged, and guaranteed. I can carry a weeks-worth of the essential clothes. A smaller-ish bag also forces me to carry less and keep the weight down. I'm getting too old to dig this thing out. To secure duffel to the sled, I use motorcycle-type cargo bungies. $10 for 2 on Amazon they wont' freeze up like other straps and a very secure. They allow me to also stuff things under them when not needed, like my gauntlets. It could be a little bit larger, but I'm living with it. Pictures aren't great, but may help.
I can’t open them?

Yeah I'm finding I'm getting more this way too. Lugging all the gear in and out of hotels daily is a pain. Two 20 L linq bags is more than enough storage room. Put garbage bags inside them to ensure everything stays dry and never have an issue.
I have 2 linq bags but one is full with tool kit, first aid, booster. I guess one bag and then a dry sack strapped to the top should be enough.

Been using Overboard back packs for years. I can pack for a week tour in my 30 L bag.
The 30 is big enough for a week? Was looking at the 60?

How big is it? Doesn’t really tell you?

For the guys that saddle bag , I see a lot of people with the large red dry sacks. Where can I get one?
Also if you use something different let me know. It needs to be strapped over my tunnel bags and can.
Thanks

Wasn’t looking to start an argument but yes I ride more miles a year then most. Every ride is 200 + miles. And here in NH we don’t have the big trails like Quebec does, just got back from a week long trip up there.
stay safe.
