  1. Hearing they are close to a solution for this. No details yet. Sorry. Will update.
  2. Its definately out of the loop. Ride enough road you can get anywhere. Its really cut off in town where that is.
  3. More than 2 days out for the forecast is never right it always changes. They have no clue.
  4. Dec 3 36F Well light flurries all day and night yesterday. About 1.5" total. Much warmer today.
  5. I'll be in Grand Mere tomorrow, i will bring the GPS with trak maps 5 and see where the nearest trail is to the hotel there.
  6. I think its like 5 minutes by road in a car to a trail. & Hey do what you want. Go for it. "not easy" hmmmm
  7. I saw somewhere else, I think was in Tennessee, where the troopers use a Tractor trailer with a trooper driving to spot texters and point them out to patrol cars nearby.
  8. Great Report as always Alain, looking pretty good so far. Like you say the weeks upcoming will be interesting to see. This week shows 2 days with Rain or Snow. Let's hope its snow. Brown snow is normal near Le Cabanon. No doubt.
  9. Nonsense these hippie tree huggers, if it is so fragile then close it to everyone, i agree with shore1066 there is much more harm in spring, summer, fall when animals are most active then any sleds passing and the occasional groomer during winter in an essentially dormant forest. Public to me means for all. Damn granola eating morons. Time for a Revolution. Rise up Sledders.
  10. Surfacer Arrived Yesterday. first run of the year, 3 weks earlier from last year.
  11. Dec 1 28F Woke up to a dusting and still snowing lightly here. Maybe about 1" so far nothing crazy. Every little bit helps.
  12. Here is an article from August about the reasoning behind the demise. Just economics and an outdated method of production it seems. http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/rio-tinto-alcan-to-close-shawinigan-que-smelter-1.1338873
  13. Sad day in Shawinigan today as Rio Tinto Alcan closes the aluminum smelter in town. The plant operated for 72 years. 425 jobs are lost. picture of the last pot smelted today....
  14. Do they claim to be on a trail? I am Pretty sure there is no trail into that section of Grand Mere. Never seen one. The place seems nice(never been just driven by by car) but i think you would be all dressed up and no way to get out of there by sled.
  15. Sheraton 4 points has sled rental on site. (at least they used to.) call to check.
  16. Whatever works for you. That is each persons choice. Like I said, for me riding is about covering ground and when the trails are all connected and open between clubs is go time with the rivers and lakes safe to use. Glad to see the snow this early hopefully it will be like the 2007/2008 season and just keep on coming. I hear you Alain have fun I know you will. Look forward to the pictures.
  17. For True. I'd rather have more time at the end with much more snow everywhere instead of just enough to open like now when nothing is really connected at least to go too far. Kind of useless really. You will have everyone in one area burning it down to nothing.
  18. I am sure what is there will make a great base. Just not sure there is enough yet especially after they pack it and it gets ridden on. Still a little early for me. (just my thoughts) there are alot of surprises under that snow that are not buried deep enough for me to have at it yet. But go for it if you feel the need to scratch that itch. Patience grasshopper. I been waiting too and a few more weeks or another month or so will be the time to really get ready.
  19. Finished up the Storm with a little dusting last night. The freeze is on now. Like 24F and cold.
  20. Damn that is bad news there. Thanks for the update Bill.
  21. Link to Judgement from 2010 http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&ei=ReKXTOKVKcKBlAer1sDWBQ&hl=en&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.motoneigeauquebec.com/forum/index.php%26hl%3Den%26prmd%3Divdf&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=fr&u=http://www.jugements.qc.ca/php/decision.php%3Fliste%3D72859249%26doc%3DA55853A9D6F630A2613DCB3FE86C7658B10B38E41850C85E1EA1215780EDC464&usg=ALkJrhhtRkEQZO5C6IcoevGqi2rXJdx-Ig
  22. This was from a link posted there under the comments on this trail situation. It dates back to 2010. It was a link to the judgement issued by the courts regarding the suit. Seems like it was for advertising, maybe the ad on the Maps or signage. i do not know. Scooby signed a contract with club and agreed to pay $6,200 approx and paid only $525 so judge awarded the balance due plus interest and fees. It seems that it has more to do with 2 bridges in need of replacement and no money to do it. Also something about the club woukd be held responsible(according to FCMQ) if anyone drowned while crossing the lake there. (i guess near scoobyraid). Very very very Confusing. Too bad cause that orange trail there was a great one to onatchiway from scooby and vice versa. Link to story in newspaper. http://www.journaldequebec.com/2013/11/25/lamarche-isolee-des-monts-valin
  23. Thanks Bill, let us know what you find out. I saw something on the CMIQ site about the club Caribou Conscits And Scoobyraid from 2010 where the club sued them for not Paying as agreed for advertising and other advantages.(not sure what that means). Scoobyraid lost the case and was ordered to pay over 5k to the club on the contract they signed. For sure must be some bad blood involved here I am thinking.
