  1. So back to the previously scheduled ridiculousness....

Going through each of the engines systems at length in my head I came the to obvious conclusion, just go and buy the fastest sled available!!!

With that being said, what is the fastest sled..... This motor in this sled passed my 07 Mach Z 1000, at full steam, going up the Old Bras Louis in Valin. So what changed......

It finally came to mind..... the crank.... the cases are the old 93-95 style and I when I purchased a new crank, when the center brass gear failed. They only offered reman'd cranks for the newer styles of 670s. Once I received it, I had a reputable machine shop re-clock and add a spacer to match the original crank.

I should have ( Bad MrGutZ ) closely checked the work. Now I am not a machinist, or play one on TV, so my measurements are not as close as they could be, but I've determined that the base timing is off by 10 degrees Advanced.

So if we think of the general ignition map, it starts retarded by a couple of degrees for easy starting, pops up to 25 degrees advanced, then retards back to 15 degrees for max RPM power. With the 10 degree base this moves all the numbers to Advanced Settings. Start at 5 degrees advanced, moves to 35 Degrees and then down to 25. All this means no Top End Power.

The Fix.... well Best way is to pull the crank and have it re-clocked. I just did not want to pull the engine apart again. I think I can have a machine shop move the ignition pickups on the Flywheel back 10 Degrees. I moved the pickup coil and used a 3.5 degree to get the trigger close ( as seen in the pictures ). I just dont think this is a permanent solution as I need to be about 2 Degrees Retarded as a base, for the NOS to work correctly.  ( yes there is RTV on the pickup, suggested by Doo Tech, on ALL Pickup Coils inside the cases like this one ).

  2. Ok, so I have been sidetracked on another project. Last Season it came to light that LongHairs 1200 Short Track could barely make it out of town without almost over heating. I had installed a small cooler a few years ago but it could not keep up. I went about creating a much better system with a Temp Controlled  Fan and Rotax Ultralight Radiator. Also had to modify the short exhaust from an earlier model to meet up with a Newer Muffler and location. ( FYI, 3rd attempt at welding, dont try Stainless Steel Exhaust ). After testing in the 90+ degree days the system keeps the gauge at 1/2 way up. Big Win!

  3. A quick update, on the longer length\Mountain Sleds it is recommended to change the mounting hole on the front arm, very similar to the rMotionX.

This leveled the track and should keep excess weight off the skis.

Still trying to work out the front steering.

  4. I have been trying to track down the same thing. The Fuel and time to drag the trailer from Mass to Quebec City is a waste. If we are in RDL for one trip and then Sag for another and even Three Rivers, its easier and quicker to park it in QC and pay ??? 100.00 a month or so....

I was checking out several places, UHaul storage ( 3-4 locations in the QC area ) use to do it, but no longer. I started looking at RV storage places, as the SnowBirds would be gone for the Winter and have the room at the lots.

If you find something let us know.

I'll try to remember the place that was looking promising.

    And all the way down....

    Little bit of travel!

It goes a little further if you stand on it.

Then because of the altered angle caused by the rear Drop Brackets, I needed to add some kind of wheel. I found these bearings with a larger\thicker inside race allowing it to be a spacer and a wheel. They wont spin or be touched all the time only in particular situations.

    Initial Air Line Routing.

As a an extra little surprise, I found that the chassis and foot-well had separated. I did a less than elegant repair, leading me to conclude a chassis renovation is in the future.

  6. During final fitment, I noticed the plate was not sitting straight until I tightened it down....

The good news is I was revamping several tunnel fasteners and adding reinforcements. The new Mounts will also assist in the straightening.

The mounts look like switch cheese, but I did reuse the original holes and chassis mounts.

Final test mount and I can finish up the other side.
