  1. Chris, were will be on the trail by 8am. 225 miles to get to lombre. suposede to snow, who knows how nuch. but our plan is to go and get there, see you there, Bob.
  2. Wow, that is a very bad day...almost looks bio-degradable...does the picture count if it is under warranty...how would you even make the claim??
  3. Chris, see you there in Parent, I have 2 friends riding with me this trip, looks like we will be doing the first 225 miles in a snow storm, should be a great adventure, we should be in by 5 pm, Bob.
  4. I bought uclear and they work good when they work...lost the microphone in 1 helmet on day 3...and they drop out and in at a very short distance...and the battery goes low on a 225 mile ride...would not buy them again.
  5. Yes, Frank is buying it, could not be a better transaction, he has been there 24 years and knows the place and customers, a positive thing for sure...Dennis loves cooking that Prime Rib every Saturday night, and his dogs are awaiting that big bone!!, I will be on your tail again on Wednesday, maybe we cross paths for the 3rd time in 3.5 weeks, I will be looking for you, Bob.
  6. You bet, after 33 seasons only 1 of the guys I rode with is still riding, and he is talking about quitting after this last ride next week. I just went on a 1959 mile ride alone...some say it is crazy, but it was a great ride...with zero snow dust...and I met a lot of great people out there...I do not get too crazy about it...when your number is up...that's it...might as well be doing something you enjoy!!
  7. Jean Guy...I have been enjoying Quebec snowmobiling since 1988, when the trail system was only starting to become what it is today. Over the years there were a small handful of guys around Quebec who had a vision of what the sport could be, Bob Boulton at Motel Lefloruron in St. Donat, Mike a Le Mallard at the entry to Mount Tremblant, Dennis at Le Cabanon, Bernard at Motel Safari. All these guys, and many more mom and pops out in the bush put there heart and soul into this sport, got up early mornings and worked late into the night for all us riders. They did all the hard work for us and provided it with a warm, caring attitude and almost always went above and beyond, many have come in the years to follow and still do today. We all remember the ones who really stood out and shined above and beyond all the time, making our trips most memorable. I hope you know that we all know you are one of those bright stars, grooming to a perfection, some of the best kept trails anywhere..then there is your real skill...posting here , from your heart, with the finest pictures of what Quebec is and has to offer. You are a very big part of this game for all of us..on the trail and here on Quebec Rider. You are leaving behind a job that will never be done with the care and enthusiasm that you brought every day, very big shoes to fill.Nothing lasts forever..go chase your dreams, Best wishes and Many Thanks, Bob.
  8. 33 is a really nice trail, you will enjoy that ride, Bob.
  9. I pulled into relay 22 at 1230 today, there were at least 300 sleds there, it was hard to find a place to park. But, I was able to get gas and oïl and eat and get out in 40 minutes, they had about 15 people working. In Chateau Roberville now, going to Chibigamu in the morningé been on the trail for4 days and 950 miles, 4 more days to ride, hope the weather holds out, trails in the North are amazing.
  10. This is a good thing to know, but also surprising as they sell a lot of gas there and it pumps from the bottom of the tank, I am sure they will get this fixed fast, that is a very strategic fuel stop, almost impossible to leave there without getting fuel...you have to wonder if it is water or the inside of the tank is deteriorating being an above ground tank I can't see water leaking in...unless somehow they got delivered a bad load.
  11. Riding north on 33 and 13 then West is really great, as you know a lot of traffic around devils mtn on the weekend , you should be able to find good riding , there is plenty of snow, 63 is not a good place to look for great trails, go north and west, I just rode this area 1.5 weeks ago, happy trails!!
  12. my friend is wearing his favorite sun glasses instead of using the flip down sun visor, I tried it and it works great.
  13. I think the helmet is sealed around your neck and your breath condenses on the sun visor when it is in the top of the helmet, I see the same thing with mine and like others said a second or 2 with the shield cracked and it is clear, and like others, the warmest helmet I have ever worn, that with the absolute 0 jacket and you cannot feel the cold at 30 below, wish I had this stuff 25 years ago!!
  14. every community has one person who is known for being against everything....this guy needs a little help....but by the looks of it he is probably beyond repair. You know what they say about arguing with an idiot...by- standers might not know who the idiot is.
  15. shoot me a pm and let me know which way you are going, I just ran west to Point David last week on Baskatong thru Parent and 83, trails that way are incredible this year, farther you go more and more snow and temps have been really good, trail is flat!!
  16. Thanks Steve, I was on my last trip with 1 cable and realized I was screwed if I lost it, you are going nowhere if you loose your cable!!
  17. My light just started flickering, but the shield is fine, what is the fix...a bad wire or a new helmet...I really like this helmet...I will look at the wiring on the weekend.
  18. I do not know if there is one at the gas station, I gave personally in hand at Central...They were thrilled...every little bit is a helping hand...and you can tell how much they appreciate it from sledders just passing thru. They have been getting up early and staying late for years...just waiting to serve us...lets them know how much we appreciate them, thanks Chris. Bob.
  19. I have an unexpected last minute opening to get an extra week off starting next Wednesday...so....another 5.5 days of riding...have no plan...but years of Quebec knowledge...anyone looking to ride this week...Gaspe region...Cote Nord...Parent West....Lake St John??
  20. Mike, I always wonder where all the belt /clutch stories come from, like you I always seem to get 10k out of a belt, then just change it for peace of mind, I have only had 1 belt blow, on a 600 Yamaha in the Forks Maine the late 80's, had 12k on it. Yes the ride to Moose Valley, pretty nice ride any way you go, and a lot less traffic, and the trails always seem to be in great shape.
  21. Yes, Mario has been very booked this season, almost all the places in the bush have been full...no snow in USA...everyone is riding Quebec...you use to be able to fly by the seat of your pants and get a room...do not try that this year, plan ahead and not by calling for a room in the am, but by calling days ahead at minimum. It is a crazy thing to be out all day, on mint trails, see almost no other sleds, and everyone is full!!
  22. Yes, I saw that set-up, I own a foreign car repair center and a tire store, so I have been in the shop for 48 years...I looked around inside his garage, he had a ton of stuff to fix any thing that might break, a real jack of all trades. But safety was not his forte, I always wondered if something like bad wiring or even the generator caused that fire. I remember looking at it after it burned, one hell of a fire to melt a steel building...under the wrong conditions he could have burned half the country side down.
  23. I see that the Yamaha on the ice has Quebec plate on it...I do not get it....obviously they did not know it was open water. As for crossing open water...that is a long haul right there...when we were kids 40 years ago we use to play on the pond and swamp close to home and crossed many times...and got our sleds stuck in the swamp a lot...it was all fun and games....but these big Canadian lakes are no game. We crossed the river by the bridge in Chambord at Lac St. Jean...15 years ago...with a local who went first...there was maybe 50 ft of open water..we crossed at 70mph, no big deal...but know I look back and forward to today...we just were not as smart then as we are now...it would never happen today.I hope we have seen the last of this..these guys were really lucky...and it looks like they will get the sleds back too.
  24. Yes Steve, I parked in that garage many times, he had the exhaust from the generator wrapped around the walls to get a little heat out of it, and enough tools and baling wire to get you out of a jam, cooked dinner for us many times at 8 to 9 pm, a real gentleman!!
