  1. We did a loop around St Zenon last Sat, conditions was very good. 275 mile day!
  2. The Gov is a very nice place to stay, they have a gated area for the sleds and a gated area for trucks and trailers with camera's. Pretty easy acess to the trails, you cross one bridge and 2 sections of the river which is very safe. What I like about starting in Shawiningan, its central location in PQ, you can head east to St Raymond or Saguenay or head west to St Zenon. I never stayed at Bernards,(Motel Safari) but I heard many good things about it.
  3. Same here, around 700 miles in 3 days, 1/8 thru 1/10, conditions very good and plenty of snow. All rivers are froze and safe. here are a few pics.
  4. Rode from the Gov hotel in Shawiningan to the ice hotel. Trails in great shape all the way there. 210 mile round trip. It's realy something to see. its 15.00 to go in and a 150.00 to spend the night sleeping on a bed made of ice. Some rooms have heat in them, but I would think if you turn it up to high the roof will leak! And if you can't make it through the nite because of the cold, you can go in the main lodge. Here are a few pic's
  5. Last season I left Shawinigan and I got on 23 at the 23/3 intersection, 23 ended at the 1st road crossing. I zoomed out on my gps and it showed 23 at the power lines, I found a singal lane trail, and followed it, and it took me to 23 at the power lines. I don'tthink it was a legal trail, there was some small fences, it looked as if the sleds knocked them down to get thru, I did not want to try to turn around because there was a lot of snow and did not want to get stuck being solo so i pressed on to 23. The strange part about it there was no signs for a detour and 23 was groomed very wide right to were it ended.
  6. I did my exchange at the Derby crossing on 12/26 1us = 1.15 cad, a couple of friends stopped at banks and got 1.25. Next trip I will shop around for sure!
  7. No that's ok, let him feel guilty. The temps and forcast looks good. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/parksfx/CAQC1186
  8. That's great Bill, did you remember to bring the QR.com banner?
  9. He passed away!! RIP Bernard!
  10. You are correct! Your picture looks like somewhere in NH to me.
  11. Bill, who won the free nights stay at the HI and Scooby Raid?
  12. I made it to the Grass Drags Friday night, 1st stop was the SOS food stand. I was starving when I got there and they always have some good food. Stopped in at the Saguenay / Lac Saint Jean booth and said hello to SaguenayBill, and as always a warm welcome. Thanks Bill Also ran into one of my Quebec riding buddies, and talked about our annual T day weekend riding up at Mount Vallins. Then I finally met, in person, a guy who has helped me out quite a few times when planning a ride up in Quebec, via internet. The Zen man! he does exstensive interviews by podcast, and travels all over Canada reviewing resturants and hotels. Also a lot of coverege on the NH Grass drags. http://zenwaiter.com/
  13. Mont Vallins is a great place for early season riding. Last year we stayed at the Auberge 31 right on 93, it's quite a hike up the moutain but well worth it. The rooms are on the small side but are very clean and warm, resturant, bar, and internet service. Auberge du Km 31 ZEC Martin-Valin Lac Jalobert Monts-Valin (Quebec) Canada Mailing address: 2488, rang Saint-Pierre Saguenay (Arr. 14. My guess would be that they put everything they steal right into a shipping container. If you look back a few years ago when theft was very high in the St. Zennon area, they never caught anyone or found any of the stolen propertys. I have been to that area a couple of times, and it's one long road in, and the same road out, I find it hard to believe that no one was ever caught and convicted. I am sure you had insurance, but what ever they paid you is still not enough to replace everything!!!
  15. That's pretty awesome, thanks for sharing with us Bill. Heres to Bernard,
  16. So how was the turn out, any feedback from riders on the upcoming season.
  17. Hey you old dog!!! Happy birthday to ya.
  18. Happy birthday doobrap!!! If your stuck, that only means good conditions
  19. Great mines think alike I guess??? Just about the same thoughts I had. As for the early ride T day, if I doo it will be arriving Sunday after Tday and ride until ??? depends on conditions. As for your trip #2, I almost did it last season, left Tamworth NH and headed North, got to the border and changed my mine. The conditions was right for it last season for sure, maybe see what this season brings. Last year will be hard to beat. And lets not forget the Saguenay area, that will be my primary riding area. And last but not least, I was talking to smclelan at the summer get together about the Gaspe, and he told me about and outfitter Camp Haute Madeliene . Would like to bring the wife out that way, and at least doo half of the loop? see what happens.
  20. Still waiting for a rerun of this show, but I did find a video preview. A different way to see Quebec for sure, but I think snowmobilling beats it hands down. http://www.trippinontwowheelstv.com/Quebec/
  21. Not sure if this is the same place or not.
