  1. Happy New Year everyone, let's all have a safe season.
  2. I rode up to the lake yesterday, saw 2 sleds crossing to Pte.des Cascade and many more tracks not to mention a Jeep Cheroke running up and down the lake, looks like we're ready to go just need more snow.
  3. WHEN ARE YOU GOING ??? Soon...we're going to have a good dumping of snow this weekend and the lake is measuring 8-11 inches already,i suspect the club will be be installing the lake markers after the holidays. Yippy ky yeah MF....Ride'm like ya rent'm. Yeeeee Haaaa.
  4. I just got this report from a from who is living in the area and rode today with another friend,i wish it was alot better but i guess we'll have to wait for some more snow. Fill me in on the trail conditions around the Pine Hill area when you get in, i am a Club Hibou Blanc member. Like to ride this area. Is lake MacDonald trail open this year or did they do a bypass, i heard there was talks of opening a new trail west of Lake MacDonald going straight up to Arundel, that would be nice considering the rail bed trail west of Lac des Seizes Iles has been closed for sometime now and to bypass this one you have to go all the way up to Brebeuf, sucks. JG JG Jean Guy.. ok.. Ernie is here with me.. Went to Pine hill today.. was pretty shitty.. trees are all frozen.. you had to duck through the branches.. alot. Should have listened to UNCLE TOM!!! Havent heard anything about the Lake Macdonald trail yet.. Will let you know if & when I hear anything..
  5. Shure sounds like the same guy i know with friends from west ile. YOU HAVE A FRIENDS LIKE THAT TOO! Hmmm..... what no donuts to change and i thought you were going for a oil change IF IT'S NOT BROKE DON'T FIX IT.....10 BUCKS FOR OIL CHANGE AT HOME....MAYBE I'LL SAVE ON SOME RAZERS TOO. lol
  6. The West Island gang went to Cabanon before Xmas, said conditions were better than they expected. Don't know if they did much riding, these guys like to drink and talk and stare down their sleds in the garage.
  7. Thanks Groomer Would you or your brother-in-law happen to know if Bertrand is still participating in some shape or form with the snowmobile clubs? Nice pics groomer, keep'm coming. You da best. JG
  8. good idea about the jumper cables where did you get your mini cables at I got mine at the dealer, but i'm sure with all the 4 stokes hitting the market lately there's some after market supplier out there reselling them.
  9. last time faribault has been open ,must be in 98.just too bad that place is closed .my brother in law with a friend leased it back in 97 . I believe Groomer you're right about the time frame,it must have been in '97 or '98 when i was there,if i remember correctly the name of the guy running the place was Bertrand,he had his son with him at the time helping. He told us he was from Cap Chat and he did guiding for deer hunting on the Anticosti island, but what i remember the most about this guy was his terminology for snowmobiling,he used to say "Bring Bring anch une vitesse,on font on font". We had a gas with him.
  10. Never went to the dealer, you must be thinking of another JG.
  11. Nice pics groomer,it's been too many years since my last visit to the Gaspe region. Last time i was there i hooked up with a couple guys from Amqui at a meechoi at Fairibou and were invited back a couple weeks later to their homes, one of them had a machine shop called Ateliers Usinage Amqui (ring any bells) can't remember their names today but do remember their hospitality, top notch. Keep up the good work groomer, we need more people like you. I hope that someday i can give back to the clubs as much as they have offered me.
  12. I second that....Lac de Deux Montagnes, Bay de Vaudreuil and Lac St,Loius all frozen over, they are already ice fishing in Ste Annes, just a few more cold nights, some snow and off we go. Need the Lac St.Loius crossing to get out'n ride.
  13. I have a Yammy too ...so let's not forget about those jumper cables, no pull cord on those 4 strokes. I carry a set of mini ones, needed to use them a couple times up in Abitabi. I elliminated notorios electric visor cables when i puchased a bomby helmet, best investment yet.
  14. I'VE ALWAYS LIKED HAVING A FEW WITH THE LOCALS IN THE RELAYS DIRECTLY ON THE TRAIL IN AND AROUND THE PROVINCE,PREFERABLE IN THE LAC ST.JEAN REGION LOTS OF RELAYS CLOSE TOGETHER AND GREAT PEOPLE. TO REALLY NARROW IT DOWN IT WOULD BE HANDS DOWN AT CHEZ MAURICES. THAT'S WHAT I CALL THE PLACE TO ALL MY BUDDIES BUT THE REAL NAME IS DOMAINE DE LA CHUTE AT THE BASE OF MONT VALIN.
  15. Thanks Bill, don't forget the sun lotion.
  16. Happy B-day Bill,i hope there are more like you to help out the rest of country, let me know what you think of your new Avalanche. I'm a Ford driver myself but most recently i tried a new Avalanche,'was real impressed loved the ride, but would like some info from some long time owners. JG
  17. I rode my atv to down the lake(Lake St.Louis) from my house using the sled trail, trail was all ice and a very hard granular surface, anybody riding a sled on that would be a fool. The lake was all ice no snow to be seen of. It was great to get on my atv for a change, just got off my seld from a 5 day trip, just got back in time before the rain.
  18. I was at Mont Apica on the last week of january and they sold me gas for $1.35/litre  ,quite pricy i found considering gas had been selling for $0.85/litre at that time but very convienent i might add. They also had debit and credit card service, this must be new,i paid my gas with a debit card. JG
  19. Cool video, simple 'n easy...i can't imagine how many prototypes were tried before they got it right. Even today if anyone was to go down a road or through a field with one of those it would definitely turn some heads.
  20. Where are you riding Sled Dog,are you saddle bagging it or hang out in an Inn?
  21. A nice loop i would suggest in that area. Day 1: Park the trucks in Mt.Laurier and head up to Val d'Or through the parc, sleep in Val d'Or. Day 2: Head up to Amos ,take local trail to Matagami(180klms no gas) and sleep in Lebel sur Quevillion. Day 3: Do the Chibougamau loop and sleep in La Dore or St.Felicien. Day 4: Off to Parent or one of the surrounding Pouvouries. Day 5: Back to the trucks early in Mt.Laurier. 41/2 days of beautiful trails. Just a suggestion, anyways whatever you decide have a nice trip and happy trails. JG
  22. I have friends in NY and rode many years in Tug Hill, since their first trip to Quebec they've never been back, they say it's worth the extra 2hrs (for them, they come to my house 1hr from the border) trailering. The cost to ride is quite similar, over a trip of 600 miles(100 miles/tank @ 25$ in Que 35$ - exchange) we're looking at 60$ dif in fuel and from what i hear(from the NY boys) the rooms are even cheaper up here(around 85$ supper, bed & breakfast on the average). So really the extra cost is the initial transport, perhaps an extra tank of gas in the truck(75$) for paridise. Just my 2 cents. JG
  23. Here's a pic from last year between Louvicourt and Joncas, nevermind the camera setting,it was colder than a witches tit that day and had to change batteries, didn't feel like fumbling with the settings.
