  1. The forecast is giving another 12-14" of snow for the Gaspe on Wednesday, and a little more for the weekend. That is just the news I wanted to hear since we are heading up on the weekend.
  2. Good to hear things are still intop notch condition in your area Bill. It sounds like you are having a great winter. The traffic seems like it may have picked up a bit since I was there earlier.
  3. Great story viper2. I agree with you about being unhappy with that section of trail. The fact the groomer is broken shouldn't matter. As an active member of the groomer committee in my club here in Nova Scotia I would not let that happen to our trails. We have had mechanical problems with our equipment, but before our trail get too rough we arrange to have the clubs on each side of us come in with their equipment and groom our trails. I have heard this story a couple of times in that part of the Gaspe and I don't think it is an acceptable excuse.
  4. Our plan is to leave home and truck to Pointe a la Croix and unload early in the morning of March 7th. Then we are going to head west on the TQ 5, turn on the 587 that go through Matepedia and comes out at Groomers clubhouse. We should be there around 1:00pm for lunch (hopefully with Groomer). That night we are going to stay at the Quality Inn in Matane {around 225 miles}. The net day we are going to travel the north shore and stay at the Camp Haute Madeleine (remote cabins east of the 597) {maybe 180 miles}. The next day we will go down the 597 to Murdochville, cross over to La Cache, down to New Richmond and on to the truck {260 miles}. This will be a low mileage trip, more a scenic tour. Let me know if there maybe someone else out there that we might cross paths with.
  5. Good Luck Guys!! We are all rooting for you.
  6. I agree. I have heard of no thefts this year, it is better than in previous years by far. This may be due to: motel having better security, better survellance by the athorities and/or snowmobilers using better security devices. It was nice to hear of no negitive issues this year.
  7. Groomer, I just noticed the sled sticking out of the front of your club house this winter. Is that new?
  8. That is good! I purchased a jacket through one of Joels retailers. I wanted a specific model and color and it couldn't be found locally. He found one for me in one day.
  9. Count me in Bill! I will be there. You should arrange for a Power Point Projector and we could bring our pics from PQ trips and have them playing as a slide show through out dinner.
  10. Now that is a nice Groomer!! It looks like it is new. Did they get it this season?
  11. I agree with TDI-Ham 100%. If at some point in the trip you don't have a mis-adventure then you didn't have an adventure. Here is an example, note just the top of the windshields showing.
  12. These are updated daily and usually quite reliable. They also have a 1 800 # if you want to speak to someone. They can speak english. Gaspesie Trail Conditions
  13. It must have been cold Bill, you were still shaking when you took the first picture.
  14. I have eaten there on several occasions and never had any complaints about the food. I also walked over and looked in the rooms one day thinking it would be a excellent place to stage out of for late spring riding. The rooms were decent sized, with showers, and very clean. It is not fancy by any means but I would not hesitate staying there. The new management is very friendly (bilingueal) and I am sure if you stayed he would do everything in his power to accomadate you. My $0.02 worth
  15. I haven't stayed at the Rotel for several years because it was akward to get in and out. The QI may not be as fancy but easier to get in and out of. I have not had any problems there at all.
  16. Usually the trail brings you to the Gas Station on the edge of the bay. You scoot across the bay and then it is only 200ft on the road to the parking lot of the Adams.
  17. Timbo, we will be down that way, but I think it will be Tuesday or Wednesday. We are getting off the boat in Godbout Saturday morning and going to take a quick run to Sept-Iles, niether of us have been there before. Then the plan is to head back to Forestville, then the HI, and if plans go right, we will be around Bal Buzzard the next night. But you know what happens to plans. Hope you have a great run timbo.
  18. I agree fully with arubenstein, make the loop around. I did it last year, trail were excellent and well groomed. Yes it is remote, but that also means less traffic, we had no gas issues at all. Making the loop is worth the extra couple days. I took lots of pics on my trip, I guess it is what you consider pictures worthy.
  19. Thanks Joel (snowworks) for the great service!! I was looking for a black and grey CHOKO Extreme Touring Jacket, I contacted the local CHOKO dealer and he told me they were sold out and they wouldn't be able to get anymore. I PM'ed "snowworks" and in no time he contacted me, we talked and by the end of the day he found one for me in New Hamshire, at HK Powersports. He gave me the number and told me they were holding it for me. I called and sure enough Ed the salesman told me it was behind the counter. They mailed it the next day and I recieved it today. I have always promoted supporting site sponsors. A great guy to deal with, and obviously very customer oriented. Thanks snowworks for the super and fast service.
  20. The local dealer here in Nova Scotia is giving me his demo DI next week for a ride set up by the provincial association with some of the provincial ministers. I will report my ride impressions after that.
  21. To date I only have about 1000 miles on my 08 GSX 600 SDI Limited. I have been riding a Cat for the past several years, so it took a little getting used to. To date the fuel mileage has been very good and the oil consumption has been incredible to say the least. The saving of in gas and oil is noticeable and will add up by the end of the season. I like the riding position, and lots of leg room. I am heading to PQ next week for a few days and will tell more upon my return.
  22. Looks like I am going to miss you Joel. Our plans have us arriving from the Gaspe to the HI on the evening of the 10th or 11th. Would have been good to get together over a
  23. Thanks Andyman for that great trip report (inject sarcasm here). 1457 miles and one picture?? Now I see why you like to travel with me. LOL
