  2. Is Hotel Universal the preferred place to stay in RDL ? anything I should know ? Planning on heading up Monday for the week. Thanks, Mark
  3. Thanks for the info Bill, looks like I will try the Bas - Saint - Laurent area.
  4. Hi Bill, trying to decide between Bas-St-Laurent and Saguenay for a 4 or 5 day stay starting Monday, both will be new to me, either place is 7 1/2 hours drive, do you think things will be good where you are , and will you be around? Mark
  5. Thanks JG. You must be getting tired with all that snow you are working in your area.
  6. Any reports on the conditions in RDL ?
  7. Does anyone know if RDL benefited from the storm ? Whoops, wrong place for this
  8. MD rider, I will be staying at le Glaciere Friday night, Saturday night and probably a few more nights, live entertainment Saturday night, If we don't bump in to each other just ask owner Lionel who Mark is, hope to meet you
  9. Thanks for the info Timbo, accuweather says 4 to 8 inches in that area for Thursday night so that should make everything very good, headed to Saint Zenon Thursday or Friday for 5 or 6 days.. Mark
  10. Snobeeler, I usually ride with that group, best bet is to make reservations by phone, the owner and his brother speak English. It is a fantastic place with amazing food and gas available.
  11. Just got a text from some friends that left Mt Saint Anne today, said trails from there (23) were good until Mt Apica relay, after that, terrible, they couldn't get past Herberville (not sure I spelled that correctly) they are supposed to stay at l'Auberge Carcajou tomorrow night and are considering hiring trucks and trailers to bring them there.
  12. It's all good. I have friends there now and I'm headed up in the morning.
  13. oh, oh, I guess I better get some ice scratchers if that's the case, think maybe the new snow flap might be causing it lindasledgirl ??? never had an issue with my 2011 800 but am now worried about my 2013 renegade x
  14. rotaryman, le Glaciere has new owners that took over the beginning of last winter so the 2 star rating may not apply. The new owners, Lionel and his wife who is a chef are doing a good job and the food is very good. The rooms are nothing fancy but they are warm and clean. I took two groups there last winter and no one had any complaints. If you go to the bar and like Crown Royal or any other mixed drink, ask for Mark's (or as the french spell it Marc's) 2 fingers of booze, this is not 2 adjacent fingers so it's more like 4 fingers. Lionel is a very friendly host. There is a covered sled parking area as well as a corral where you can park you truck and trailer. which gets blocked off so is relatively safe. The sled parking gets closed off fairly early in the evening but you can park outside your room, all rooms have exterior doors as well as interior hallway doors. Lindasledgirl, it sounds like you are staying in one of the houses at the vieux, they are nice, stayed there last winter also, great place !
  15. Yes, good parking lot with good security, you don't enter that lot without someone checking you out at night, came back there 10 PM one night with a wrecked sled in a guy from Alma's pickup after he drove me all the way from Mt. Apica, Nancy (Joanne's friend) came out of the house to see what we were up to, Luckily my new best friend Redj could communicate with her since I speak no French and she no English. The next day when I returned to the lot with the truck and trailer to wait for my buddies to return Nancy came out to visit me, 3 hours later my friends arrived to find us drunk and communicating just fine. LOL
  16. MFARJM, looks like I won't be able to get away, sorry. I live south of you in Lake George. My place to stay is la Glaciere in St. Zenon, the new owner (last year) Lionel is a great guy, he speaks English which helps, the food there now is excellent, his wife is a chef and her food is great. I helped translate thier menu from the way they tried to translate it to english to English that us Americans could really make sense of. Great people and a great place. Maybe we will get a chance to ride together in the future. Mark
  17. Yes Iceman, I am a groomer driver and the volunteer mechanic for our club, sometimes you do only what you can.
  18. Got a second hand report that the St Come club has so much snow they have been out with just the tractors and no drags trying to break out the trails.
  19. Ian, call Joanne, the owner of Motel Chez Charley in St Anne, she speaks english and has alot of snowmobiler friends in Saratoga 418-827-6011
  20. What a bad time for family holiday comittments, all this snow only 3 hours away and a wife giving me "that" look when I suggest I'm going to disappear for a couple of days. Really want to get the new Renegade X broken in
  21. Are you looking to do a overnight trip from St Michele to Repos or one day ? That looks like a pretty short ride unless I messed up my figures, I might be up for it, I was going to go up tomorrow but my buddies couldn't get away so I canceled and comitted to work instead. Good chance I can get awy for the weekend. What are you thinking ? Mark
