iceman
Article in news says Escapade has been made an offer to sell. The offer is contingent on a zoning change from the Ville of Shawinigan. If they change Zoning the hotel will close April 8. It will become a drug and alchol rehab center. Story here..... MOVE. The Pavillon de l'Assuétude, an institution that provides assistance to people who are addicted to drugs and / or alcohol, filed an offer to purchase the Auberge L'Escapade. The offer is conditional on a change in zoning by the City of Shawinigan on December 19th at a public meeting of City Council. The purpose of the by-law is to authorize new uses in the area as "Community Mutual Aid and Resource Center and House for Persons in Difficulty. "Currently, zoning allows only commercial and residential uses. If the proposed settlement is accepted, the transaction would be formalized on April 8th. "This is a major project for us," says Alexandre Ratté, general manager of the Pavillon de l'Assuétude. Our project is twofold: moving and improving the Auberge Escapade, but also major works at our pavilion in Saint-Guillaume. This is a significant investment for both. " Mr. Ratte did not want to advance on the amount of investments. Since the organization must follow the rules of the Régie du bâtiment, it has called upon an architectural firm to comply. "At the Inn there are only rooms, and we need rooms and office space. Also, it is a restaurant at the Inn while we need a cafeteria. We've been looking for a place for two years, and there were other scenarios. After two years, we have an opportunity to buy the hostel. Despite the improvements we will have to make, for us it was a wise investment, "says the CEO. The Pavilion of the Assuetude is installed in the former presbytery Saint-Marc in Shawinigan since 2009. "At the time, the reality was very different from today. The demand for our services has exploded over the past few years, and today we realize that the building is more or less adapted to our current needs. We even evaluated expansion scenarios. I hope there will be an advancement of the file next spring, "said TC Media General Manager last September when asked about the move. On the site of Remax, the building was put up for sale for $ 535,000 while the municipal evaluation was $ 698,700. As for the Auberge L'Escapade, built in 1977, it knew several owners until it was bought six years ago by the businessman of Grand-Mère, Gérard Coulombe. According to information from the Municipal Assessment Roll for the Town of Shawinigan, the value of the land and building is estimated at $ 1,314,200. Yes they wanted to open a Rehab there. Zoning was the issue and liscensing from the Quebec Government as far as I know. In the case of Escapade this rehab is already operating in Shawinigan they just want to change locations. i will let you know when i know. If it gets the approval. Florida Snowman
That sucks. Time to buy Richards place up the road. Montagnard burned. The Escapade becomes a rehab. Yup - Auberge Mekinac needs to reopen & do some serious sled business. His spot just had a major increase in value! NSHM
