  1. I understand It is an ice crossing a few miles south of the Hawkesbury bridge. Not sure how well marked it is, buddy of mine crossed a few years ago and said he had to ask several locals where the spot was. Remember it is a river and the ice is never the same one year to the next. Sorry I could not be more helpful on the river crossing. We were at Hotel Lac Carling yesterday for lunch, pretty sure you will like it as a stop over or launching spot.
  2. Funny thing is years ago, and I’m dating my self, we used to do most of our riding at night. We would headed from one hotel to another 30-40-50 miles away in gangs of 10-20 machines. Single track ungroomed trails and the machines were not that fast but the biggest thing we used to say was you could always see another machine coming by the light bouncing off the trees before they got to you. Never remembered any head on collisions and few un expected off trail adventures.
  3. Well the cops did show up last week, 2 of them on sleds coming toward us and guess what they gave us the hand signal count down. Or Wait a minute, they could have been trying to get us to stop, first guy one finger , one moment please second guy, closed fist, was he shaking it cause we didn’t stop?
  4. Yes Ice weekends suck and I prefer weekday riding but unfortunately the crew I ride with these days are all still working.
  5. I am beginning to question if there is a new generation of riders that don’t give a crap, feel invincible, don’t know how dangerous it is to use what ever part of the trail they feel like or all of the above. I have been riding for many years and it seems like in the past you would always meet Once in a while the odd sled or sleds that are running the middle of the trail or cornering on the wrong side. It does seem to me to be getting worse ever year and this year it is every weekend I meet on coming sleds that think the whole trail is theirs to use. Multiple times this year I have had to take evasive action hitting the brakes hard and going off the trail to miss a sled totally on my side in a corner. There is some serious education missing somewhere, how hard can it be, it’s keep tight right, not dive right if you see a on coming sled.
  6. Yeah, like he has a very good command of English, not as likely a local.😁
  7. I’m having a hard time figuring out how he walked a mile drunk with his arm completely torn off and he didn’t bleed out. He needs to go buy some lottery tickets, cause he’s one lucky guy.
  8. That sucks about the motor, but sounds like what could of been a lost trip turns into a bump in the road. Hope the doo is under warranty.
  9. I think the monkey screwed with the skidoo when you guys weren’t looking.
  10. Not all snowflakes can be groomed.
  11. Ya think? I mean the kinda negative part. 😁
  12. There was an advertisement on face book promoting snowmobile tourism in Quebec a few weeks ago. Just to give you an idea of the hate for our sport from some people , this guy started posting negative comments and kinda went off the deep end when others posted positive remarks about snowmobiles. I don’t know this guy nor does he have anything to do with the Tremblant issue and I am guessing he is not a Québécois or may not ever even been to Quebec. Here is one of his posts word for word. “I've seen these things in action; you can't tell me that they are quiet because they are not - the wilderness alone is quiet, but how would you know? Horrible noise and stench; obviously a lot of fun for those selfish jerks bent on mindless destruction for their own entertainment. However, without those devices they would be too lazy and to wimpy to go out there. No, their overwheight arses must be driven around and they must impose themselves, only then it’s worth a while for them.“
  13. Yeah a lot has happened since I posted that almost 11 months ago.
  14. Living in the area, I am one of those who has been hoping and waiting for this to open, but certainly I am 100% against these guys running that trail right now. In this instance I hope the club, ministre du transport or other in authority put big cement blocks at each end to block these guys.
  15. Ha as a l started to read your post, for just a second there I thought you were making a list of all the good folks in Quebec!😁😁😁😁😁
  16. Was just going to mention tape, also a small coil of brass or stove pipe wire. Couple of bottles of gas line antifreeze the good stuff not heet.
  17. Then I would phone them, or phone / email the club that you supported when you bought the pass, they may be able to help intervene. Am I understanding this right?, your pass instead of being delivered to you was returned to sender?
  18. Brion, text me your full name on FB.
  19. Windigo falls mid 2000’s.
  20. Isn’t that the truth, almost every hotel / drinking establishment of my youth within a 40 mile radius has burnt down, and no I didn’t do it!😇
  21. We used to stay at a small motel/restaurant called les chutes du Windigo almost beside the falls. Unfortunately it burnt down, but they had the falls lit up at night and was really cool to see.
  22. Huh? Maybe we have a miscommunication issue here. Why would I think what ever you do to prevent an accident a weenie move? Perhaps you misunderstood what I meant by “ghost sleds” to be clear I simply meant once there are enough people using this posi-trail monitor, approaching sleds will show up on radar so to speak, those sleds not equipped will be invisible ghost sleds so to speak and come out of nowhere if people come to rely on the posi - trail too much. No really sure what you meant, what I got from it was if you see a sled or group riding loose or badly and you get past them you hand signal to on coming sleds there are more in your group than there really is, OR the sled or sleds coming at you riding loose or badly and so you signal that there are more in your group than there really is. 👍
