Congratulations and Best wishes on your retirement. After 44 years you have earned peace and relaxation.

Hey Jim how are you and Gemma doing? Jami and I are planning a Gaspe trip the beginning of March. We are also thinking a Temiscaming trip mid Feb. Just like Mike we just retired and will be planning trips on a whim.

For a $25 or so savings, is this really worth it?

I'm buying two permits so maybe. Why do I need more insurance on my sleds when I have full coverage? I guess if it is a pain in the butt to get the refund then maybe it's not worth it. I just hate paying for something I don't need. It reminds me of the extended warranty charge they offer you on throw away appliances. I never buy those either.

She make the right choice for you. Hopefully next time around you will have more days of perfect trails.

It was great to meet you, your wife & friends.

Its lightly snowing here at Domaine Valga. We are getting ready for our last day on the trail.

Great to meet you guys also. We really enjoyed our stay in Mont St Pierre because of the people we met. Our trip was awesome. We only had one bad day and 5 great days. I think that is a pretty good ratio of good to bad. We will be back again in the future for sure. I think next season we will be riding a few other areas in Quebec starting with the Temiscaming area. I hope you have a great finish to your trip.

  4. This Winter has been a real challenge for any snowmobile enthusiast. Very hard to make plans around the constant roller coaster weather pattern ride. My Gaspe trip was on hold right up to the last minute when my Wife started packing and told me we were going. I try not to argue with her Jim and I'm glad I listened to her.

I'm heading for gaspe bay on Wednesday to do a loop, I am staying in Mont saint Pierre on Thursday and hotel copper on friday, would it be to far to head down to perce and head back up to hotel copper?

Its a short run from St Pierre to hotel copper. I think to Perce and back to copper will be over 200 miles.

  6. OK I'm not selling my sleds! We left New Richmond on freshly groomed trails on our way to Amqui and the riding was as good as it could possibly get. It was cold, the Sun was shining and the trails were mint. We took a few secondary trails and they were even better if that's possible. Today was the best riding I have done in over two years. The amount of snow up here is staggering. Fresh snow everywhere. Tomorrow we will ride back to RDL. So far in 5 days of riding 4 have been great with only one bad. I'm looking forward to our last leg of our trip tomorrow. The best part is I'm riding my brand new sled and I haven't even opened up a side panel. Just add gas and go!

  7. We rode from Perce to New Richmond today and at times I thought I would sell my sleds when I get home and do something else during the Winter. I'm hoping tomorrow there will be some trails worth riding but I'm afraid they may have parked the groomers till I load my sleds and go home. I have looked foreward to this trip for a long time and unfortunately the timing must be bad. I can ride trails like this much closer to home at a much cheaper rate. Oh well you win some and you lose some.

Js,    so glad you got the good conditions. I wasn't sure what you would run into up there. Sounds good, wish you stayed a day, I wanted to drool some more over your sidewinder.

Grampsledder,    I may still be here Sunday into Monday if the weather and trails stay good.

    mike

Hope to see you when we return Sat. They are calling for 6-10 inches of snow on Thursday. I'm not familiar with the weather up here but we got a first hand look at how windy it can be and if you add some snow it could be a challenge.

About 240 miles today over and around St. Pamphille area, met friends for lunch and we rode back to hotel together.

Darn close to amazing conditions now that groomers worked their magic.  Trails still hard but really sweet most everywhere.

Hey Mike we are in Matane and the trails were much better than I had hoped. We ran into some blizzard like conditions before and after Rimouski. I had to come to a complete stop at times because I couldn't see the stakes that mark the trail. Lots of fresh snow in many areas and some perfect and not so perfect trails. I'm sure with colder temps all the clubs will get the groomers running. I'm very happy I made the trip. There is so much snow and the trails have such an awesome base that just a few inches of fresh snow make you feel like you are in perfect mid season conditions. Can't wait to hit the trails again tomorrow and head to Mont St Pierre

I will be in Matane 2/25. I will post conditions.

4th year attempting a Gaspe loop. After making arrangements the weather hiccups. I hope that 3 foot of snow from the last storm holds up.

That would be awesome thanks. A group of friends of mine are planning to be in RDL that day and they are also waiting to see how everything pans out. We will be one day behind them unless something changes. These last two Winters have been a challenge for sure.

  11. We have changed our plans for the Temiscaming trip and now thinking Gaspe. I see they are getting warm temps and some rain till Sat pretty much everywhere. Does anybody have an idea how the conditions will be after the warmup for a loop around the peninsula starting Monday morning? I've never been to the Gaspe so I don't know anything about it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Joe

  12. We are a group of 4 and we are planning a trip Feb 27 - March 4 (six days of riding). So far we are thinking Temiscaming to La Sarre to Matagami To Val D'or. From there we aren't sure what to do. We will still have three days to get back to Temiscaming and we are looking for ideas to maybe complete a loop. Possibly heading down 386 to 63 and staying maybe at the Motel Le Classic and from there heading towards 43 and staying another night somewhere and then back to Temiscaming. Any ideas or suggestions would be great as the map I'm sure doesn't show many of the nice places to stay. Thanks in advance!
