  1. There is gas at a small club a minute from the crossing nearly in sight of the crossing. They have gas when open. Better yet IF you can get up the lake that is right there SAFELY theres a gas station up a hill left side going down that lake. There may be a different way up to the station besides the lake if it’s unsafe but ask locally. Ask locally if the lake is safe for sure. The club is on the lake and there’s a trail behind it down to the lake. If it’s safe the lake will be marked/signed too. Hours for the crossing Id ask Moosetown Riders out of Allagash on FB. They groom the trail out to it and will know. It sounds fun. Report back !
  2. Jack If your gas mileage is low today it’s because I’m riding along with you as you explore RDL ! Enjoy ! Mark
  3. Id go if I had those reservations with the forecast of snow coming. Interested to see what it is now too prior to the snow. Hope you get to go Jack
  4. A little more purple today too !
  5. on the left in the distance you can see the trail that winds thru the mountaintop windmills….
  6. I’ve done this and agree. Im sure someone here knows but I think it’s 587…a option that loops around over a mountain area with windmills…and down into Amqui…is stunning and a great way to end day 1 into Amqui. The day we did it was clear and the sunset views from the mountains there was amazing.
  7. Worked like a charm ! Tell me again what the blue numbers are ?
  8. Great report ! As I suspected it has packed and groomed and gotten better quickly since we were there 10 days ago. Looks like a blast ! Glad we got season passes. I think we may need it based on Maine so far.
  9. Sorry to hear this outcome Jack. Looked forward to youre ride posts. RDL will be mint when you get there.
  10. Damn. Good for you. yeah…Im a little jealous. Booked 3-7 to 3-11 there today. Enjoy the season!
  11. The round Bar too ? Asking for a friend,
  12. Thanks Mike. One thing we know all about snowmobiling is you never know about snowmobiling. It is truly an adventure each day. If they give you lemons make lemonade. So with some moisture in this area now these trails should improve quickly IMO. We got there Monday and they were still digging out their own cars never mind heavy trail work. It was getting better fast. However when I left Thursday AM early the parking lot was half empty compared to the 3 days prior. The weather changing and moisture coming had a lot to do with that Im sure. This time next week they should be better and stay together much better as well. If I was leaving to ride a few days today Id head right back there.
  13. Well it wasnt the Superbowl of trail conditions but I would do it again in a heartbeat. As said morning was great. Afternoon chopped. And evening was a rodeo. Glad we got to meet you Chris. Great rider and great guy. We have a lot in common including a rabid love of music and sledding. Nice to just follow someone who knows the turns in a new area !! Long fun day.
  14. Guess what I found. ,😊 Had a blast today. Trails good all morning. Beat to death 2nd half. Still a great day with alot of laughs.
  15. Chris That was the "groomed" 63. It was good Cabano to Central before noon. Needs to pack for sure. Sounds like you picked so good trails today. Glad it was a good run !
  16. Lisa is not scared and never holds us back. Great rider...So when she says no Im ok with it. Just one of those days ! Its all good.
  17. Had a great shakedown run out to Central. Hit some rough stuff mixed with very good. Some stretches were groomed a day or two earlier and not packed hard so they chopped up. Early season. Poutine and a beer. Happy to visit the legend of the Central. Left and headed 63 and rather than run the rough patch below Cabana again I decided to run about a 15 mile stretch of 63 that wasnt groomed. How bad could it be ? Its just a cut thru basicly to get to some groomed stuff. Well…. So it went downhill fast. Stuck twice on 63 (ungroomed) trail that if you left the center by a foot you drop in a few feet even where there is a track already. Loose loose traction heading up the steeper hills. Bad call overall. Did I mention stuck twice ? Now….About 10 miles in the trail is closed. Signs and markers. No detour route. Dead end. Lisa says no way she is going back over the 10 miles we did to get there. Pick a direction. Run a road. Poke around looking for a secondary trail that meets up. Nothing.. End up on 131 6 miles from Glasiere in St Zenon. No trails accessible with our no local knowledge. Asked some local folks. They said the non groomed stuff is due to trees or water below the snow. Dont chance it. They are literally still digging cars off side streets. They offered to drive me down 131 the 6+ miles to grab my trailer. I caved and took it. So no great story of sledding to tell. 70 pathetic miles . Nothing got broke besides the tow rope. Just another sled adventure to laugh about with our sledding friends for the next 20 years. Weve all hadem unless you dont sled. This one was a particularly bad call but I got it out of the way early this season. ……on Day 1 ! 😂 Im ready for a cocktail or 3. Looking forward to starting over tomorrow. Haha
  18. All good jack ! Heading out to beat out a few miles and look around soon !
