Alright on to day two! But first I forgot to follow the theme here. Day one we stopped at pourvoir lac faillon for fuel and lasagna. Even had a sugar pie. Too bad they didn’t have a menu but thankful for the fuel.

day two parent to fer a cheval. did the loop through casey and repos. Trial were good but more travelled than 83. Repos was “closed” but they had fuel and “ham” sandwiches. We soon learnt ham was spam - a first.

I had the lasagna Friday, it sucked, I was told when they had a chef the food was great, hopefully they along with many others are able to rebound someday from the Chinese flu!.

To get the Chibougamau experience in its totality,  staying downtown at the Hotel Chibigamau is a must.  You and your friends will come away with great stories to tell your grand kids, and you will receive a decal proclaiming 'I survived a night in Chiboug'.   A five star experience.

Now that’s the review I’ve been looking for! I read somewhere that a Saturday night in chibougamau is about as close you will come to experiencing the bar scene in the first Star Wars episode!

I have made that loop around Kinzu Dam years ago I  know the trails get beat up fast I  was wondering if any one has been on the trails lately.

I’m sure with the Christmas Eve snow people were out riding, I have friends that live on the Westside of the Allegheny National Forest and they were out riding this past weekend, still no base and the ground is soft but in this day and age take what you can get.

Thanks.  I'd heard similar comments elsewhere.  This and the Gaspe are on the bucket list (and lots of others of course).  Is there much traffic on this route?  Much difference weekend vs weekday?  Only discouraging part is no loops, but the linear route out and back still looks fun.

Very little traffic , especially during the week. Seems that most people use the trails to access their cabins in the bush.

  5. I ran this trail last March, stayed at the complex Pelchat in Les Escoumins, there’s a nice restaurant and fuel next door. The gas station in Baie Trinity Is easily accessible from the trail and actually has good sandwiches and such, for a quick lunch. Hotel Les Mouettes in Sept Illes is easily accessible and very close to Mike’s restaurant and a large IGA grocery store, best part is they have a full service bar and a great staff!

Supposing not much of that was in a seated position?

I'm so spoiled by the PQ Groomers, bless their souls. If you put a quarter on my seat in the morning, it's probably gonna be there in the evening!

1st day riding was pretty much a whiteout with 2’ of fresh in the upper elevations so we basically did 85 mile loop from 5,700’ to 10,200 and back to the trail head, it was a hell of a workout trying to keep the sled from getting sucked off the trail. We found the further you ride in from the trailhead the less traffic you’ll encounter when playing in the mountains and it certainly helped that a member of our party has been riding in Alpine 3 weeks a year for the last 12 years so we didn’t waste any time looking for the untouched hill climbs, best off trail riding I’ve ever experienced! My only bitch was they didn’t groom our first 3 days there and mountain sleds really do a number on the trails, almost like Tug Hill. I felt sorry for the people who came to just ride the trails it was brutal considering it was Presidents Day Weekend .

I surely did not see where it was punched through. We are just two. Riding like that is not my thing. If it was my bag then surely I would not be on my Yamaha for that.

Strength in numbers is surely a good thing,

i would never have been to Havre in the first place without Team Vermont.

Where are you? I am not that familiar at all with what is where after Havre.

    How far up?

Mr. Iceman, we left Labrador this morning at 7:am trying to get back to Sept-Îles before the next winter blast, luckily today’s snowfall was at our backs as we traveled 180 miles back into Harrington Harbour.5ED39F48-29FC-4B6D-BF39-9F98B2316A59.jpeg.d44acf3c8d56aa6cdd6b4d21027c66ad.jpeg
