  1. The Canon A590 IS would be a excellent camera, it is on sale now for $160can @ the Future Shop. This is a very good camera and the Image Stabilization is a great feature. I have one the same style but two years older. It takes great pictures and fits in the inside pocket of my jacket. I purchased a set of rechargable NI-MH batteries and throw the charger in my saddle bags. On one trip two years ago we were out for 9 days at -25 or colder every day and would charge up the batteries every three days.
  2. That page is what started my internet message board addiction. Thanks Rob. Hopefully we will cross paths this winter.
  3. I don't know what happened here but it made me laugh like hell when I read it. I am sure there is a story to go along with that .
  4. I just got information back on the status of Scierie 54 this upcoming winter: Fuel will be available at the sawmill. For the restauration service it will be on the week day only for the moment but the club negacaite to have it in the week-end to. This is great news!! This will ensure that the trail stays open for this winter at least.
  5. Don't sweat it combat. All is said in fun. Had I been with Andyman on that trip, I would have kept him out of trouble....
  6. I bought two passes, one for for the Renegade and the other for the Arctic Cat TZ 1 Turbo Touring. I am heading to PQ on the 30th of this month for 4 days with both. That will give me a chance to try them and decide which to take to the Get Together. I didn't have much trouble finding someone else to come and drive the other one. LOL
  7. I really don't know, never looked under the hood. The dealer told me it was one or the other, pull cord or electric. Thanks Groomer that is a very generous offer. But aren't you grooming all the time? It would never get used??
  8. 2009 E-Tec 600 Renegade. This sled came with electric start. To my surprise it does not have a pull cord.
  9. How to prepare yourself for Snowmobiling 1. Go to your local snowmobile repair shop, smile and give the first guy you see $200. This will get you used to spending money there on a regular basis. 2. Fill a 50-gallon barrel with sand. Lower it into a hole. Now lift it out. If you can, add water to the sand and try it again. Do this 5 times per day. This will get your back in shape for those deep snow stucks. 3. Tie a rope to a heavy-duty spring. Pull the rope repeatedly with each arm until the pain in your shoulders meets somewhere in middle your back. This will get you in shape for starting your buds sled, which he conveniently forgot was out of gas and didn’t tell you. It’s best to do this exercise while someone is spraying starting fluid into your nose and eyes also. 4. Drink four ounces of cod liver oil mixed with a strong laxative. Dress with long underwear, wool pants, snowmobile bibs, insulated boots and heavy coat. Walk far into the woods without any paper products and wait for a personal emergency. This get you prepare for the Beer sh&%s that come out of nowhere, and at the wrong time. 5. Place your hands in a bucket of ice water for 20 minutes. Put the carburetor from your lawn mower in the bottom of your deep freeze. Now climb in the deep freeze, shut the lid and overhaul it while holding a pen light in your mouth. This gets you prepared to work on your sled in the freezing cold and black of night. Advanced riders do this with a leatherman tool. 7. Dress up in your new $350 snowmobile bibs. Pour 2 stroke oil down the right leg, gasoline down the other and Peppermint Schnapps and Beer all over the front. Fill your boots with ice cubes and ask your wife or girlfriend to dance. This will prepare her for the stops at the local bar after a ride. 8. Put on a Balaclava and a full-face helmet. Attempt to drink hot chocolate through the opening. Advanced riders attempt this while riding a lawn tractor over in the nearest farmers’ field. 9. Find a place where you can pay $3.50 a gallon for regular gas; $19.99 per quart of oil; $16 for a hamburger and frozen French fries; $3 for a coke and $60 to sleep in a cold cabin on a bed with springs sticking through the mattress. Stay for two nights, minimum. This will prepare you on the high cost of your future winter trips. 10. Practice explaining to your banker why you need another loan for a $40,000 truck to pull the four $10,000 toys, in your $9,000 trailer that you still owe $40,000 on. Now, you are 50% ready, and somewhat conditioned to head for the Mtns and ride your sled.
  10. Looking like now our first trip is going to be December 30th, if the trails are ready. Macdav and I are heading up for 4-5 days. A squirt in the Gaspe and down toward the Baie Saint Laurent & Chaudiere Appalaches regions. Hopefully get 800 miles or so, just an easy run. Both sled will be new and want to break them in correctly.
  11. I am not sure where Andyman got them, I believe it was a member of HCS that produced them.
  12. I just purchased a Garmin 76CSx. Now I can be one of the techy guys. LOL I got Andyman and Mubs to get it loaded up and a little training for me today. They loaded all the PQ and New Brunswick trails on it. I am looking forward to using it this winter. I know on many, many occasions I have pulled up to a poorly marked intersections and guessed which way to go (usually the wrong guess). Now all I need is a sled to mount it one, should have that solved this week.
  13. Thanks Tim There could have been no better excuse for being a tad late. "Youngsters" I like that!! LOL We will be arriving in a group of 4 in January, as it stands today.
  14. The bridge pic should be right at the Wardens Cabin when entering the Zec, and the one on the hill I think, is right above the cabin.
  15. I don't see a bull (drag) behind the Toyota!! Time to get the Blue Beast out!!
  16. Happy Birthday Andyman, make sure Lisa knows were like a fine wine, and get better with age.
  17. Great Looking Pictures!! Have they started grooming yet?
  18. Longriderss The first two pics are coming up the hill from the Wardens camp just as you entered the Zec. Remember we crossed the bridge and the camp was right there where you had to sign in?
  19. I have also sent an email, to a friend in the FCMQ. I will let everyone know what I hear back from him.
  20. These sleds should be good on fuel, supposed to be similar or maybe better than the SDI. Plus they wil burn no oil.
  21. Hopefully they can get these water crossing fixed in time for the upcoming season. I rode the trail from Sept Iles down to Baie Comeau last winter, an excellent trail to say the least. Anyone that travels as far as Baie Comeau should take the extra day to go to Sept Iles.
  22. Murdochville could get as much as 50cm (20" for those south of the border) in the next 7 days according to the Weather Network. It is starting to look a lot like Motoneige Time!!
  23. I figured out where you are in the first two pictures. The third one "where I talked about the stump" I could not figure that out, in fact I thought maybe you were sipping on some Gaspesie wine. LOL  Then I remember you tlking about hitting the top of the stump with the track of the groomer last winter. The top of the stump was close to 7' above the road surface. I will be there the first weekend in January, we will have a drink together!
