  1. I read on another board that as of the 6th you could still go from the HI to Mt Valin. However, like SB600 said signage could be minimal and things are changing pretty quick. Perhaps trailering to the ski hill would be safest. I think there would still be lots of snow.
  2. WOW!! You have to love it, April 13th and the signs still almost buried. Great pictures. I hope you are right and this is the kind of winter we will get for a while.
  3. Happy Birthday Bill. I hope you have a great day celebrating with your family and friends.
  4. rws heres one of my buddy's sled at Perce.
  5. S pump, I see in one of your pictures a Cable Bridge, is that the one between Baie Comeau and Godbout?? I noticed it this year for the first time and have been throught there a couple of times. I believe without a doubt that is my favorite PQ trail.
  6. Things are starting to slow down a bit here. Looks like most of us are done sledding for the season. I think even Andyman has called it quits, too bad he didn't get more miles on. Let post our favorite picture or pictures from this past season. This can serve as a year in review. This is something we can add to all through the off-season. Murdochville Early Morning Nope, no snow here on the 595 Andyman standing by a road sign
  7. I have some friends up in the Gaspe right now, they started on Friday. I expect they will have stories to tell. I think they were 3 couples. Don't get me wrong the women were all excellent drivers, but it could be tough when it comes to digging and pulling sleds out of drifts. I look forward to the tales of their Gaspesie adventure. LOL
  8. That should be alright. I believe you only have to have a passport to fly.
  9. Where did you go Groomer?? Are you stuck in a drift? I see it is cold and windy up there this morning, it must be tough going. With the 40cm you were supposed to have got on Friday you must be going non stop to get the trails smoothed out.
  10. I agree with you on the incredible trail! {The link didn't hit right on, scroll up two posts.} My Favorite Trail Maybe this is a good time to bring this thread back to life.
  11. Your going to have a few flurries alright!!! 35cm of snow tomorrow. It must be getting to be tough for the highway plows to get the snow off the roads. It must also be very tricky for the groomers being careful not to get off the hard groomed surface. You had better get some sleep, you have a couple of long days ahead of you.
  12. Great looking pictures! Sounds like you had a good trip/adventure. I believe more than four days on the trail and it will turn into an adventure. LOL
  13. I was talking to Andyman tonight. That was the "infamous mubs" traveling with Andy. They were sitting in Miramachi for the night drinking woobely pops.
  14. My 08 GSX 600 will go back to the dealer in the next couple of weeks as well. Next year I too am hoping for an E-Tec, hopefully in the Renagade chassis. This was the first year in over 15 for me to drive a Doo, and I was very impressed to say the least. It will be interesting to see how the 4Tec's are on fuel. My 600 was great, the E-Tec is supposed to be even better on gas and oil. For all the oil it will burn it should be a none issue, virtually the same as a 4 stroke.
  15. I have a new favorite place to stay. I have been sledding in the Gaspe for over 10 yrs now and have likely stay at 80% of the motel around the pennisula at one time or another. However this past week a group of us went up and stayed at the Camp Haute Madeleline found just east of the northern end of the 597. This is a fishing an hunting outfitter that is equipped to take sledders in the winter. The package is more expensive than any other I have taken but it is worth every cent. The food is better than excellent and as much as you want to eat. This is breakfast and supper. We landed early 3:00pm, so we dropped our saddlebags and went for a local tour before supper that we asked to have ready for 7:30pm. When we got back around 6:00pm they landed 10 min later with two big platters of brussetta. Now I am not saying I have fancy taste but it sure tasted good right then. The cabins were very nice and slept up to seven people. The location was right on the edge of a lake, very, very pretty spot.
  16. That is great having your old man sled with you at his age. I have tried to get my father to come with me but it doesn't seem to be his cup of tea.
  17. Happy Birthday roadrunner. Hope you have a great day.
  18. Great Idea!! I will see what I can do for you. When were you going to start putting it together?
  19. A group of five of us went up for a short Gaspesie Tour last week. Friday March 7. The trails as usual were very good and it was sunny and about 1*c. We started from Pointe a la Croix and headed west on the TQ 5 till we came to the 587 and followed it to Albertville. The trails were perfect with very little traffic. However travelling this way we didn't travel on any of Groomers trails. We did however meet him at his clubhouse for lunch. From there we continued on the 587 up through Redemption up to Mont Joli where we got on the TQ 5 and onto Matane where we stayed at the Quality Inn. There were three of us in one room so we asked for the corner suite. This is a great room for three with two large double beds and a fold out couch. It also has a large table comfy chairs and a propane fireplace. Saturday March 8. We traveled the TQ 5 along the north shore, trails again were very good. One of the riders in the group was on his first trip to the Gaspesie, he was looking forward to the sites. This was not the day to see any scenery, it snowed hard all day making visibility very limited. On this day we traveled to a fishing outfitter on the TQ 5 just past the top of the 597. Camp Haute Madeleine was by far the nicest spot I have stayed at in the Gaspesie. The log cabins were very nice and would sleep up to 7 people. We landed mid afternoon and went for a ride locally, when we agot back they waited about 10 minutes, long enough for us to get our suits off and landed with two big trays of brushetta, and said that should hold us to supper. The food was very very good and plentiful. You didn't leave the table hungry there. The hosts Joanne and Gill were quite accomadating. Joanne was a little better with english than Gill, both were limited, we however had no problem getting what we needed. They prepared your meals for what ever time you request. The cabins are located on a lake 1km off the TQ 5. I would strongly recommend this place and will return myself for sure. Sunday March 9. It snowed very hard all morning, this is the same day Montreal got 50 cm. We pulled out and traveled down the 597 to Murdochville. We got to the gas station, gassed up, paid for the gas, and all went to the bathroom. This may have taken 10 minutes, when we went back out you could not see the tracks where we rode in. Now thats snowing! We struck off from there to go cross country to La Cache. This trail usually takes 1hr 15min to 1hr 20min, we were over 3 hours getting through. In most places there was no evidence of the trail, you had to travel by looking ahead to the next maker which was very hard with the limited visibility. Things cleared out by the time we hit La Cache, and from there down to the ski hill we busted the first track through 16" of fresh snow all the way. The SDI took a little more gas in New Richmond that time. From New Richmond to the truck the trails were a little rough from drifting. Where the storm just ended the groomers hadn't got out yet. Total distance for the trip was 720 mile. It is great to have such a great snowmobile area only 4 hrs drive from your door. This was my third trip to QC this season, I am not ruling out another run. Here are a couple of the pics I took along the way. A beautiful day on the 587 Outside Matane The bus at Sainte Anne Des Monts The most photographed sign in the Gaspe Camp Haute Madeleine (two thumbs up) A bit on snow on a cabin by Camp Haute Madeleine 288 foot Cable Bridge MACDAV stepped off the 595, he didn't think he was touching bottom.
  20. Congratulations on a fantastic finish. For the challanges you overcame you all should be very proud.
  21. Congrats on a great season Bill. You are an inspiration to all snowmobilers, and a great embassador to the sport of snowmobiling and tourism in the Saguenay Region You make retirement look good. I will see you this summer.
  22. When I was there I went to the right and followed the sign for the Grotto. There is a very cool waterfall there.
  23. We are heading up tomorrow afternoon to Pointe a la Croix and start our loop on Friday. Today they are getting an additional 20com of snow!! I expect most groomer will be out Thurday and Thursday night to be ready for the weekend. It should be sweek trails for sure. Groomer get the boys running th BR out on the 587 north and south of the clubhouse, we are going to take it from just outside Pointe a la Croix right through to Mont Joli.
  24. WOW!! How can a true snowmobiler say that?? There is never too much snow. I agree parts of the Gaaspesie have been blessed with snow, over & over & over...... I was around the Gaspe early in the winter (1st wknd in Jan) and there was more snow in the Pasbebaic area then I have seen in all my years traveling up there. There was also getting to be large amounts around the Pointe a la Croix area as of two weeks ago.
