  1. I think she waited on us last night very pleasant
  2. Yes Ginger did soak up the flavor she'll tell she had a "wicked" good time & she parked her sled in the "door yahd" There's one thing left on the list...Allens Coffe Flavored Brandy...lol
  3. Our friend Tom is old school and new school all at the same time he wears a leather suit while riding the cutting edge of the cross over sled segment the leather suit is pretty cool but what's really impressive is he STILL fits in it !!!
  4. I have this twitch in my right thumb that I just get to stop. The doctor has ordered another week of therapy & I am happy to follow the doctors orders by exercising it with the loud handle of my 850. Ginger & I have been talking about returning to Jackman Maine since it's been a while. We arrive around lunch time Thursday. We check into to Bishop's Motel unload the sleds & we are off to Quebec. This was my first taste of Quebec trails back in '84 and it holds a special place in my heart. The trail hasn't changed much & it's fun to think about all the times I have rode this trail. We go as far as the St Come relais & turn back. We make a small loop using a local trail to a regional trail then back to the 75. The St. Theophile relais is open & we go in for dinner. Wow more memories. Be sure to ask Ginger about the time she had onions on her hot dogs here! Oh and the trails were mint, yes there was some black top & dirt but really I could care less. They are making new carbides & slides as I type this. Friday we head out to Pittston Farm & then on onto North East Carry. We are happy to see Ed & Shirley & enjoy lunch there. They don't seem to have changed a bit. From there we start back to Jackman. The trails are mint again today. We stop in at Jackman Power Sports to see Dave & Doreen and catch up. We are there at a good time to talk (we're the only ones there) I started buying sleds from Dave the year he took over from the previous owner. He was very service oriented right from day one. He understood people come to ride & would do whatever it took to get you back out on the trail. Once I commented on his vast inventory his was reply was you can't sell it if you don't have it. That evening I text our good friend Tom Swift & sure enough he's on the way. We make plans to meet at Mama Bears for breakfast. Tom introduced Ginger & me to off trail riding & the idea of treading lightly so everyone can enjoy the off trail experience. Today's off trail wannabees could learn a thing or two from Tom. After breakfast we go south. The trail is different from the last time I rode this area & it's fantastic. We do a little exploring around the Parlin Pond area & decide to go to the top of Coburn Mountain. Ginger hasn't been up before & it's going to be a little challenging towards the top. We reach the summit no problem & enjoy the views. From there we go towards Rockwood then over Long Pond & back to Jackman. We make dinner plans & Ginger & I go back the motel & load up the sleds. We meet up at the 4 Seasons with Tom & at the next table is Dave & Doreen from JPS. After dinner we join them for some drinks & more reminiscing about old times. We even make plans to meet up with them in Florida next month as they are near were we are in Sarasota. We all say our goodbyes. We have two more stops on our list, Jackman Hotel & The Northland. We go in to The Hotel first for a drink & conversation with the locals. Then over to the Northland. Here we run into a couple from the last place. A few more drinks & we're having a good time. They are doing Jaeger bombs & want to buy us one but we regretfully decline. We stumble back to room and pass out. Ok I'm sure by now the purists of this site are thinking hey 182 this is Quebec Rider not Maine Rider...lol. Today we trailer to Universal in RDL. This is Ginger's first time to RDL. We unload here & repack to start our saddlebag trip through BSL and the Gaspesie. The conditions look favorable so we're going to go for it. I'll update as we go.
  5. Dear Sandi, You won't be disappointed if you get one sincerely Ice Ripper track
  6. A gentleman would deliver the sled directly to Sandi
  7. I've never been on a Bon Voyage tour & never will. Bon Voyage was in the booth next to the one I worked for Tourism Saguenay at the Syracuse show last year. This was my first show as a representative, While I didn't recognize it at first the veterans in our booth didn't appreciate the way Bon Voyage extended their area to such an extent that it blocked the traffic to our booth. If they are this disrespectful at a trade show I can only imagine how they might conduct themselves on the trail.
  8. Skiing today isn't much different. Snowboarders just sit down right in the middle of the slopes with no regard for others. Skiers/riders congregate right at the entrance to the lifts & slow down the line. Not to mention people on phones...yep all about me a holes.
  9. The off trail craze isn't much different than when snow cross was the rage & the manufacturers were focused on that. I enjoy getting off the trail & exploring new areas. Years ago Ginger & I met a couple while riding out of Jackman Maine. They could go almost anywhere on logging roads while just using the ITS system as a connector. We were "accepted" as off trail riders because they noticed we didn't spin the track & leave piles of snow. We understood they don't groom off trail. What really makes me shake my head is when I see Johnny stand up & his buds with their back packs, shovels, moto cross helemts with mohawks tearing it up within feet of the groomed trail. Crisscrossing & roosting snow out onto the trail leaving big piles of snow for the next unsuspecting rider. Wow you guys are just awesome!!!
  10. This is a different lookout than the Conscrits. The Conscits look out is off local trail 482 not too far from the intersection of 482 & 367. This lookout is off local trail 484 not far after you get off the river. Last season Ginger & I passed the turn off to it just as Mike Rider & Snow Crazed were attempting it.
  11. The red rocker keeps on rocking
  12. Ok thanks for straightening me out I jumped to that conclusion based on the picture of the grey sled hooked to a tow rope
  13. I just want to get this straight the guy started the trip on a four stroke but finished it on a two stroke......can you say tick tick tick Jackstraw???...lol
  14. I like my Montana 650T. Garmin makes the Tempe temperature sensor that pairs with the Montana. You can set it up to display the ambient temperature. The Zumo isn't compatible with the Tempe.
  15. Ice does have a way with words 👍
  16. That's some pretty specific information you're asking for. Where are you staying have you asked them if it's possible to ride from the hotel?
  17. Yes there's a groomed trail off 83 it's about 11 miles in to The Ravage Not sure about gas
  18. Favarcat & Attaker showed me this alternate to the I 87 crossing. I used it couple a times but when the Canadian Customs Agent asked me why is a guy from NJ using this out of the way crossing I told him to avoid the long lines at the I 87 crossing his response was it's 4am do you really think there's long lines over there??? I've gone back to using the I 87 crossing & most times pass through quickly.
  19. Ginger & I have been to Port Hope Simpson by car though, don't want to hijack your thread but that drive was slightly less thrilling than yours & you don't have to swat the no see ums away
  20. So Rob must be IFR rated...lol
  21. If you're in charge of getting rooms for the group make yourself look like a hero & book the rooms in advance especially with group that large
  22. There's always fat tire bikes & ski de fond....
