  1. For people that do not want to register in your own state to avoid tax or some other reason, out of staters can register in maine on-line no questions asked (other than Vin make model etc!!) cost $68 They give you a registration sticker and you will be legal. As a bonus the sticker is only 1"x2" so for the people who care about the looks you hardly even see it.... There actually is a place on the Quebec pass for the reg number so get you reg first. This will also let you park in maine and ride in to beutiful PQ!!!!
  2. As I had a few regions' maps laid out on the coffee table the other night my wife came in and said "Oh no it's map time again!!"
  3. It's the club house in Pohenegamook
  4. nope.... but your only about 40 miles away....
  5. Here is another relais for you....
  6. I took mine apart last year at 3500 miles and only replaced the 3 slider shoes. They were about $3 a piece. Like Michaganrev said, just take it apart and inspect. There are only a few parts in there to wear. Look for cracks binding arms etc...
  7. I am not sure how many tickets are really handed out for this but it is the law that you need a fixed mirror on the left side of the sled. I tell you once you ride with them you will not go back. It's nice to see whos behind you without turning around all the time... I usually lead my group and they are invaluable at seeing if they are still there. You can buy the mirrors for the mobile windshield rev for about $25. I would think the fixed shield versions are similar....
  8. I must have had a on my mind. I was probably going 15 MPH and the contrast was so bad I just could not see the where the edge of the trail was. I dipped a ski off and it sucked me right in. I rode the ditch for a hundred feet or so before it came to this.
  9. OK, here is an easy one. It was end of day with some fog so I just fell of the side of the trail
  10. I was looking at the Spot device too. I wonder if they can automatically route your emergency to Airmedic. It does not apear you get to talk on the device just send a pre programmed message.
  11. What are the TPS and TVQ rates?
  12. There is a sales tax in Maine. I am not sure if they collect at the time of sale or when you register so it might not be an issue since you will register elsewhere. There is no tax in N.H., you could look there too. Just the cost of the sled and that's it. There is definitly a business opportunity selling sleds over the border.
  13. I don't think it is possible to miss dinner in Quebec!! If you were to show up late because of weather, breakdown, or any other reasonable reason I can't imagine any outfitter or B&B not going above and beyond to fill your stomach at any hour.
  14. Is it a tax issue? Do you pay a seperate tax or is it built in to the price? Here in the states the MSRP does not include and local state tax.
  15. OK, OK it's not good news....I was just trying to be an optimist.
  16. Good news is 10 years from now we will be saddlebagging by SeaDoo in the Arctic.
  17. Anyone that can get ther wife to live in a hotel for 2 months, and seem to enjoy it, while they snowmobile is not a mere legend. They are a mythical creature to be worshiped. :D
  18. You should have no problem riding in Quebec. The trails are well marked and you will easily find your way provided you have a map. I have ridden about 15000 miles in the past 4 years without speaking French and have very little trouble communicating. Few tips. Make hotel reservations. This eliminates the issues you might face looking for a hotel at the end of the day. Study the maps. Plan gas stops every 90 miles. The maps are very accurate. Come up with a route and post it here. Between a few people on this site I bet all your stops have been visited. Bring a GPS. Even the $100 handhelds can be life savers. I don't use the trails software just the basic mapping in the GPS although I might buy it this year.... Have fun!!! Oh yeah, Once you ride Quebec plan on coming back.
  19. Does anyone here from the US own property in Quebec? I am slightly interested in buying a low $$ camp and was thinking of southern PQ. Maybe just above the border in Jackman??? Snowmobiling access is a priority and so is proximity to the border since I have to travel from southern NH to get there…. Any thoughts pro or con…..
  20. It was about $30 or so. You catch in in Matane on the south side and it brings you to either Godbout or Baie Comeau on the other side depending on the day. It's about a 2 hr ride. Very interesting to crash through the ice for a couple hrs. Definitly worth the trip. http://www.quebecmaritime.ca/vacation-acti...rry_178_ang.cfm
  21. Yes that kitty is my new ride this winter. I am hoping to see more sights along the trail since it only goes 5mph
  22. Here is a shot on that trail from a few years ago We got stuck behind 8-10 sleds leaving the ferry for 3-5 miles. When they let us pass, this is what we had for what seemed to be forever!!! Perfection!
