Fuse6
Always wondered why such an iconic trail has no trail number? Most people on this forum have ridden the Gaspe multiple times so know it as the Chic Choc trail. But for people thinking about riding the Gaspe for the first time and doing research can’t look at a map and identify the Chic Choc trail. Already have 595 & 597 as interior trails why not have a 599? PLAYHARD
Mac
After looking at the FMCQ interactive map you will notice three kinds of trails. Trans, regional & local. All the trans and regionals are numbered. Local yellow trails have no numbers on the map. I was in the Gaspe last April. Everything is trail marked to perfection. True that, plenty vital & plenty marked, and deelish when it's not blizzardy. Kinda like the other no-numbered, vital & deelish connector: Pelchat Trail Fuse6
iceman
That is a great question. I do believe the number of the trail as well as its status as Trans-Quebec, Regional (green), and Local (orange) also relate to how often it must be surfaced, not entirely sure. Someone more familiar with the FCMQ rules and funding might know more. Fuse6 and PLAYHARD
smclelan
I am unclear aswell about the lack of numbering. Different regions in the FCMQ system do have numbers on their local (orange) trails. Fuse6 and PLAYHARD
