zerosort
We just returned from a 4 day ride and wanted to pass along some updates. We parked Thursday in LeTape and met our friends who started from St Raymond. We rode to Alma and the trail is open. Mt Alpica Relais also opened this weekend. The trail from St Raymond to Mt Alpica has plenty of snow, good to go. From Mt Alpica to Alma the snow is a little skinny but ok- the trail was ok early season riding. From Alma we rode thru MT Valin over to Forestville-235 miles. Actually the riding was real good- plenty of snow and a treat to visit Forestville. We crossed the river (short cut) and chopped off a few miles if you can find the river crossing. Overall the ride was close to mid winter-good to excellent. We rode back to Alma Sat and home today- it is getting better daily. Mt Valin has tons of snow but the traffic is a bit much. Riding from Chapplle East is wonderful-smooth and no traffic. We live in Vermont and it was hard to imagine the snow and winter conditions- they have it and it's fine to trailer up to the area and you will find winter. Enjoy. Andyman
What river are you talking about crossing? There is a short cut trail about 1 mile north of the relais at Les Escoumins that takes you across the Escoumins River and joins the TQ 3 north of Les Escoumins saving about 20 miles on the way to Forestville. I have a waypoint for the end of it if you would like it. Andy

Andyman
Glad to hear that the river crossing is frozen, was there on last thursday afternoon and the center channel was still open I am not saying the river is frozen as I have not been there this year. Sorry for the confusion and I certainly don't want anyone crossing unsafe ice! Andy Edited January 10, 2012 by Andyman

dooright
The local trail with the river crossing is the yellow dotted line just above the green dot 3 . (hijacked map from markusvt post) The river is near the club house , as you can see this can cut off a lot of trail 3 .
