  1. Well you should have told me you were going to try that trail today. My original plan was to wait for a friend to come from Lake Macdonald to Montcalm on the new trail and then we were going to head to st Remi and beyond maybe Labelle. His sled was running fine getting it out of his garage but after stoping it it was dead so change of plans I went over that trail to lake Macdonald about 11:00 am to give him a hand and back to Montcalm about 2:00 or 3:00 pm.
  2. I am thinking they may have changed the format some what if or when they upgraded the version of the program. An earlier version of I Motoneige had that feature where you clicked on a groomer button and the little white dozers poped up and the time in real time they passed. The2015/ 2016 version of I Motoneige and I presume 2017 version just highlights the trails in different colours indicating a rough time of the last grooming, 12-48-72 or something like that. I much preferred the earlier system.
  3. Too far a commute for me, grin. Besides I try to avoid work as much as possible. Funny how much business is generated by recreational vehicles. We organized a motorcycle rally this past summer and one of our group rides brought us through Duhamel so we arranged a lunch stop at Le madorick for the gang. Jacques the owner was really glade to accommodate us, business is pretty dead in summer. My Neighbours run a casse croute in Montcalm and would stave in winter if they stayed open but make all their money on bike traffic in summer.
  4. St Remi gas station burnt about 5 years ago no gas there either now. I hope that there is still gas in Vendee this year. Guessing in Duhamel that the depanneur makes enough with the constant line ups of vtt's and sleds that he could afford to up grade tanks if the government goes after him.
  5. Yes that trail branches off from the 317 close to where 317 crosses hyway 327 and connects to the Weir end of the old Railwaybed trail that went to 16 island. Very nice trail. About 15 -20 minutes lake M to Weir. Last few years We running a back road To make the connection and I think the road took longer dispite the fact we were moving faster. Be aware of gas stop loses. Pine hill there is no gas at the depanneur anymore, but Hotel Chasseur has a fuel tank. Weir and Huberdeau lost their gas stops this summer thanks to the Gov forcing them to upgrade with new tanks or shut down. 16 island still has gas. I fear other small mom and pop places will stop selling gas as the cost of upgrade is more than they can handle.
  6. After what seems like a long wait for things to freeze up exaggerated by a fair bit of early snow things are coming together around here. Club Diablo et Rouge as well as club Hebou Blanc report most trails have been packed by the groomers without a drag and just in the last day or 2 groomed. Lake Macdonald and lac des seize Ile have been marked with pickets while lac de les this Montange remains unsafe as does a river crossing near Brebeuf. A run to Tremblant from My house in Montcalm by car revealed the trails looked good. We received a good snow fall New Year's Eve and today while early weather reports predicted rain / freezing rain, that changed to a snowfall warning for here and it has snowed 2-3 inches so far an let up for now with a few ice pellets. Been fairly busy and not time to play but depending on if we get the rain or not they are getting further south( Hudson , Montreal ), I will be out and about on the sled this week.
  7. Thanks, Happy New year to all. May you find Peace, Happiness, and freshly groomed trails in 2017.
  8. I Motoneige groomer reports were not working for some and mine started working the other day. At first I thought it was local as no grooming was going on at that point but trails I knew had had groomer activity by reports on here didn't show either.
  9. Just a joke but I wouldn't go out on the ice around here just yet without a boat or a very fast sled. Ice is still iffy.
  10. More to the point, where is Pauline now? This too will pass.
  11. Lucky you! Got about 6 in here today and the groomer from Diablo Rouge is out without the drag packing the trails and filling the streams and deep ruts. Could be a bit longer before they drag, but hey it's a start.
  12. Yahoo we have been up graded to a snowfall warning here near Tremblant. Guess the local weather man looked out the window. Started snowing and blowing this morning to the point that I couldn't see far out onto my lake, but the weather for here said light snow and 7 kph winds, say what? We are now expected to receive 20cm.
  13. Well one reason it's not working around my region, the groomers haven't started grooming yet!🚜
  14. Adventure That's for sure. Guessing we were about 2 hrs ahead passing through Hawkesbury.
  15. You say your back in Montreal? We came up today the freezing rain started as I got off 417 onto the 17. The roads up here were better prepared for the weather than down there. I'm guessing you take the 50. We take it in the other direction but figuring it would be slick we avoided it today by taking a series of dirt roads. Still freezing rain near Tremblant.
  16. Welcome, I bought a 2015 venture GT to replace an aging Polaris 2 up. Still have 2 other polarises but the venture is my go to machine for 2 up. Comfortable, gas milage is decent and it is reliable. Still trying to get it to handle better on the corners but all and all very happy. Gold wing huh?, my brother has one and I ride a Nomad 1600 in summer. I use a zumo 550 on the bike, but use the IMotoneige app on a cell phone when on a sled. Not a preference, just never gave much thought about using the zumo and what Quebec trails I could load on it.
  17. Maybe just me but I never found it worked that well on the motoneige 16 either. I preferred a earlier version a few years back where there was a groomer button at the bottom of the page and when activated little groomer icons popped up on the trails with the time they passed.
  18. May you all have a safe and Merry Christmas.
  19. These two fisherman decided to do a public service deed testing the ice for others. They got 100 ft from shore towing their hut behind. When the ice gave way the driver took off for shore leaving his buddy trapped in the hut till rescuers arrived. I don't know what gets into people's minds so early in the season. http://www.courrierlaval.com/faits-divers/2016/12/21/la-glace-cede-sous-deux-pecheurs-sur-la-riviere-des-mille-iles.html
  20. I haven't really done any off trail riding since before there were real trails, yeah really dating my self! Anyway i am thinking if you want to goof around trying it there are a lot of trails in the area that use portions of the hydro line corridors. I always see lots of off trail tracks in those areas. Also I am guessing maps that would show crown land might be useful, no sense tick off private land owners.
