  1. Ray, Even if the sled is not in, can they at least give you the SN? They would be able to do that on others items. Schooter

  9. I have mine attached to the handle bar with a RAM mont, it clicks on on off easy , so I can take it with me when we stop. I like it in TOPO mode I can see the elevation changes. There maybe other units just as good, It took me a long time to decide which unit to buy, because it is alot of $, but since I have one I think it is great, I even put it on the sled when I ride locally now. 11. I have used the Nuvi 500 for 2 years , I have found it to be a great unit. The basis difference between the Nuvi 500 and 550 are the base maps that are loaded, The 500 does not come with Canada topo loaded but can be purchased as an adder. I have mine mounted to the handle bars with a RAM mount. The first year I used it in Canada, I used the cigaret lighter, halfway thru the trip the wire broke from the cold and vibration. Last year I moved a hard wire power cord the unit works great. I picked the Nuvi 500 since it east water proof, had off and on road capability and Ialso use the same unit in my truck I was also able to get the FMCQ trails loaded to the unit. I would buy the same unit again for multipurpose use. Schooter

  14. Wayne and I had a great ride with condition from good leaving the HI to exellent up north. We left the HI on 383 to 367 to St. Ambroise jumped on 93 to St. Horone Fueled up back tracked 93 to local trail 134 we were the first sleds on 134 with a fresh 2 - 4 inches of snow, jumped on 328 east to 476 after ~ 15 k on 476 rode fresh 6" of powder again first ones to ride up to Onatchiway. Got to the Relais about noon. Headed west planing to go to Scooby Raid had to run the Road to the 53 K marker due to Logging, Road had > 6" of fresh powder over the Ice base. Jumped on trail 484 got turned around several times due to limited trail markings. rode >40 K on unmarked trails turned around and finally found trail 482 by this time is was 3:30 so decised to skip Scooby Raid adn just head to the Ice Cave. Then my GPS started to give me some problems and not familiar with the area stopped to find the problem, Broken Ground wire. After fixing drove south on 482 to 367 to 328 back up 476 to the ice Cave then back tracked from the Ice Cave to 328 to 134 to 93 to 267 to 383 From the Bridge crossing into the HI it was a little thin and had some MOGUL. From the Ice Cave back to the HI it was snowing pretty hard ~1/2 hour. overall rating for the day 8 out of 10. Schooter

  17. We left the HI about 1 pm and rode on 83 to La Baie, From there rode south to local trail 21 to 383 to relais La Bouleauniere then back 383 to the HI. Got a little wet, but all the trails had been groomed before the weather change. So we had some trails that were as smooth as glass. Schooter

  20. S Pump I used my Garmin 500 last year using the cigarette lighter on my F8. So you need to hook up a female lighter adapter. (you cannot cut off the plug and hardwire, there is a voltage reducer in the plug) or you can purshase a permanet hardwire kit. I moved to the hardwire kit because the cold temps. and the fragile wire attached to the cigarette plug.
