  1. Yeah I've heard of this. It's BS too. What happens when the signal gets blocked by a hill or the battery fails?
  2. What's the clothe over the hood on the one sled for? Having snow ingestion issues with it?
  3. I wonder what they booked them for besides speeding. In looking at the act the 121 km should have been a $380 fine. Doubled if second offense. Am I missing something? 117. Any person who, in contravention of section 36 or 39, operates an off-highway vehicle or a maintenance vehicle at a speed in excess of the prescribed maximum speed is guilty of an offence and is liable to a fine of $30 plus, (1) if the speed exceeds the speed limit by 1 to 20 km/h, $15 for each 5 km/h by which the speed exceeds the speed limit; (2) if the speed exceeds the speed limit by 21 to 30 km/h, $20 for each 5 km/h by which the speed exceeds the speed limit; (3) if the speed exceeds the speed limit by 31 to 45 km/h, $25 for each 5 km/h by which the speed exceeds the speed limit; (4) if the speed exceeds the speed limit by 46 to 60 km/h, $30 for each 5 km/h by which the speed exceeds the speed limit; or (5) if the speed exceeds the speed limit by 61 km/h or more, $35 for each 5 km/h by which the speed exceeds the speed limit. If the speeding offence occurs at a location where the maximum prescribed speed is 30 km/h or less, the amounts specified in the first paragraph are increased by $5. 2020, c. 26, s. 117.
  4. I hope they're fining for failing to keep right. Solve the true safety issue.
  5. Wow those are huge fines. 150 km/h throw the book at him. 120 km/h I hope it was in an area where that is clearly not safe (corner, coming over a hill, etc.) and not on a wide open 20' wide straight and flat as an arrow road.
  6. How many days? Nice route.
  7. Hope I'm not barging in, but is there also a lookout tower on 587? Somewhere near La Redemption? Also anyone have any experience with Auberge l'Amarre in Mont Louis? Nice enough pkace to take your wife? I just booked for next week. Matane to New Richmond, New Richmond to Mont Louis, Mont Louis to Matane. Then figured we'd do the 587 loop as a short morning ride before heading home.
  8. Are you guts having any issues finding rooms without reservations? I made some calls a week ago and found both hotel fraser and hotel motel grande valley booked solid on weekdays.
  9. Things were exceptional Monday and Tuesday. I doubt the freezing rain hurt them much. They had lots of snow. I'd say just go. Maybe pack the ice scratches.
  10. They can be printed, so no issues waiting on the mail.
  11. I would say a smaller than average lot. I'd call them and ask. There was a few sled trailers there, but they'd easily fill up if the place was booked with sledders that trailered in.
  12. Thanks everyone. We made it in here tonight. Neither trail goes right to the hotel, but you just run the sidewalk to either trail. Easy as pie. Trails up here are excellent especially considering we're coming out of a long weekend. Hopefully tomorrow's weather doesn't mess that up.
  13. Also any recommendations on where to eat in town for supper? 2nd trip in the area, but last time we trailered in, arrived late and rode out first thing, so didn't really see much of it.
  14. Which is the access trail to this hotel? The trail to the north thst cones around the mill? Or the trail from the south that comes up off the railroad / TQ63? Or does it matter?
  15. For those out and about in la belle province what are you seeing weather wise yesterday and today and where are you? Much rain or was this storm a snow event in Quebec?
  16. Shows up on the computer and the phone. Hopefully you guys are right.
  17. Grooming indefinitely suspended??
  18. Any news on what's going on? 103 km section closed???
  19. Hi siding is a grooming technique. You groom the outside of the corners first pass. Brings the snow back to the low side of the corner creating a flat corner. Then you groom the inside on the return trip. Or if corners are piled up real bad you hit the outside or middle again. If you don't do it corners keep growing out of level with snow and you never keep a level trail. Best only to be done at night when there is lights to see oncoming traffic around the corner.
  20. I don't think you'd have any issues on the major freeways around Ottawa (416, 417). Avoid the downtown bridge though. You can cross up near Renfrew (Shawville area) on a bridge and head to Maniwaki still if you're coming through Ontario. I've heard of parking in the Montebello area, but no first hand experience. Check the Outaouis forms on here out. There is some old posts on parking in that area if you want to go that route.
  21. If you mean the convoy protests in Ottawa and more recently in other cities I don't think it will have too much affect. It's a protest, not a strike. It's not supported by the National trucking associations. That said has definitely grown in size. I'd avoid the major centers where it will be effecting traffic in many cases. Trucks look to still be rolling on major roads from what I've seen.
  22. In fairness I'd went 260 km since the last pumps. My other sled made the last 5 km to the gas pumps. It was the wife's that ran out. Still hearing about it.
  23. Yeah that happened to me as well in the Saguenay area with our XS chassis sled. Very important to burp them.
  24. Most sleds will make the 180 km no problem.
