  1. I am in Mass, leaving at 3am, will be 1 hr behind you at Le Cabanon. I should be on the trail right behind you by 9am. What is the weather like there, next week is looking good.
  2. YES, I HAVE THE SAME THOUGHTS, I AM LEAVING AT 3 AM TO GET ONE MORE WEEK IN, this is really crazy, local super market has no parking left, people were waiting to get in before they opened, we got ready for this mob mentality 2 weeks ago.
  3. Really great ride and pics!!
  4. 33 from repo to manawan is usually groomed pretty nice, sometimes around manawan it can be not so nice, but it does get reasonably regular grooming, a ways after manawan grooming is usually very nice out to lunic, then from lunic north to 100 lacs it is usually very well kept. there is a good portion that runs along side the road but it is also fairly nice. I think 3 different operations are grooming separate parts of this ride. It is beginning to get into the later part of the season but I know 100 lacs will be open until April 8th, so I would say go!!
  5. Chris, you going to be around this coming week, I will be on the trail by Sat at 9am.
  6. Chris, are you on a recruiting trip for the Knicks, they could use a little help, these 2 7 footers have missed their calling!!
  7. Great pic on the Olympic!! Brings back great memories, that was my first sled!!
  8. Great adventure, I got stuck on the wrong trail 3 weeks ago in the big storm and the 2 guys with me were swimming to their chest in snow, and not too happy about the dig out...3 sleds, like you said , hard to pick the trail in snow, stuck happens!! Hope you can get that reverse going, hard to live without it. I rode almost 30 years before they had reverse, boy it was a great addition, be safe,Bob.
  9. Mike, great dream, I had that dream, and did it, a 2019 850 backcountry and a 2020 expedition extreme, was able to go places i never could with the extreme, and the backcountry is a great trail sled. You drive twice as many miles as me each season, I still work. That 650 looks like a great sled, dreams don't retire, just do it. happy trails, Bob.
  10. Those trails are going to be incredible with the coming cold weather, we are leaving for paradise at 3 am Friday!!
  11. You are spoiling that kid for a first ride, he will never want to go home!!
  12. Ice was right when he named you the ambassador of indigenous affairs, really great to make all these friends in the bush, it is what makes Quebec so special, the hospitality of the people, have a great trip Chris!!
  13. Alain, I rode that exact loop from St. Michelle up around Lac St John, and Mt Valin, down thru Tadosac and back to 83 with the exception of 23 during a 1950 mile ride a few weeks ago, trails were great, nice ride!!
  14. Ice, I hear you loud and clear, 2 guys, not worth the risk, I love my 850 backcountry, but it also has it's limit, that is why I bought the 850 expedition extreme, I have gone places this season I could never go before, but even then, it is hell digging a big sled out, especially with 2 guys, group of 6, much easier, have a great ride!!
  15. Stan, New Brunswick trails look nice, just like the last time we rode them, miles of groomed trails without a single track on them, have a great ride!!
  16. Hope you have a great ride, the weather may end this season sooner than we want it too, I am hoping to ride again next week, for sure everything after that may be a crap shoot, happy trails, Bob.
  17. It is never easy to go home, knowing you are done for the season....I was feeling this 2 weeks ago and finally decided if I worked this weekend I could get caught up by Friday....and get ONE MORE WEEK IN ...before the weather turns...so Cote Nord it is....will pass 5000 miles for the season on this ride, great reports GT'S...have a safe drive home, Bob.
  18. I really like that inside gas pump...and I see that the only thing that has changed for our old groomer is that he now has more time to adjust his camera...these are amazing pictures, I am glad to see you are enjoying yourself with friends riding the trail. Bob.
  19. We were out west for that storm, same conditions, managed 160 miles during the storm and threw the towel in, next day we went 240 miles, a long ride breaking trail for 150 miles of it, a great adventure for sure, but a big storm on Cote Nord is a whole different thing, being so close to the ocean, big winds can change things real fast, have a safe trip!
  20. you do something well for 2 or 3 decades, it all becomes common sense to you and you make it look real easy, so those watching you also think it is easy, sometimes they begin to under value your skill, then one day you quit or retire...and shit hits the fan and the whole production is in limbo...nothing is like it was and the product is terrible... maybe they come back with a great offer...to find out that ship has already sailed...Zuesand said it well...sometimes you do not know what you have, until you don't have it anymore!!
  21. I got to ride that reroute in the big storm last Thursday, did a turn around when I saw that I had left the trail on the GPS, went back a 1/4 mile to see that it appeared to be the correct way, a sign would be helpful. If you get there in a storm with no GPS and there is so much snow you cannot see the trail....things have changed and the GPS is really a must. I could see I was headed toward 33 so I figured it was going to be fine, right at the end you hook back to the old trail at the big u-turn, 3500 miles this year and first time I rode to Repo on the 345.
  22. I am putting wheels on, like you 2 years and I try to move up, snow check gets the 4 year warranty which makes it easier to sell or trade, and I can always ride under warranty, last 4 seasons all I have had to do is grease them!! Yes if it stays cold things will stay good and I get 1 more ride, the season is way too short!! Bob.
  23. Nice Mike, 12 thousand miles in 2 seasons, are you keeping it another season or trading up? I have 3500 on 2 rides this season and figure I will ride it next year and sell it with 2 years of warranty left. Crazy how far these newer sleds will go if you take care of them. hopefully it will stay cold a few more weeks, it was 60 here in Western Mass today and 55 yesterday, way wrong for this time of year. I have to wait another week before I can go again, hope it lasts, I hate black top!!
  24. We were planning on meeting snowmaster in Parent friday night, but we only managed 165 miles in the storm and turned back to kanawata forthe night, got there at 345 pm. good thing Ihave a 850 expedition or we would have been stuck out there, this sled is a beast, but the 129s could not push on, we made a good choice, 1 guy lost a belt, not bad. We broke treail to halteparche in the am and met up with snowmaster there, then broke trail to goin reservoir, this is a greatbadventure. We ncontinued on to 100 lacs, lots of ungroomed snow, but we still managed 225 bon friday, more to come.
