  1. Hopefully someone at the Gathering has a slot for an extra sled and an empty seat in their truck. Don't think our slot/seat would help since we would only get you as far as Vermont. Sorry for Michael but he did get some good riding in before the loss. Makes a short season shorter. No bodily injuries in this so "all's well that ends well".
  2. As long as you have an engine designed without forced lubrication, relying on looser tolerances to achieve lubrication, a 4 stroke wins the longevity race every time. Not my opinion - basic mechanical engineering. - Sorry Ray + everyone else.
  3. Iceman - you're saying what I'm thinking. Don't want to get tagged for brand bashing
  4. Phil I hope you get some satisfaction (read compensation) from the dealer that put that motor in? IMO something is very wrong with their work.
  5. OUCH! I feel bad for Phil. That is always a gut wrenching feeling when your whole trip evaporates. Hope the rest of the week is uneventful.
  6. We are a red Vector wearing a blue jacket + a black GSX / black suit. (In Cabano tonight.)
  7. My notes from another trip have 183mi Mike.Beauceville to RDL was 10/10 but take 55 -> 5. 35 has the miles of choppy bumps which we hit when we did 55 -> 551 -> 35 ->551 last Friday to Montmagny.
  8. Congrats Linda. Just don't let the makeup folks 'overdo' you.
  9. We left Beauceville Club house today @2:15 and are in Montmagny tonight. TQ55 ->551N->TQ35E->551N. All conditions 10/10 except 35 which had the usual choppiness limiting speed a bit. If anyone is nearby, would like to meet up -
  10. Pictures are great! I am going to use them to 'encourage' my wife to get back on her machine and see what she is missing in Quebec!!
  11. Glad Sharon is pretty much OK; glad it wasn't worse. Looks like great weather and conditions. WOW! 162m w/3gal left? that's impressive. Thanks for sharing your pics and trip. We're headed up Fri 3/6.
  12. Two stroke motor longevity is a combination of off-season storage, fuel, lubrication and manufacturer design/parts quality. I won't pretend to put them in order
  13. I think you got a great deal! When Momma is happy; everybody wins
  14. Glad he is apparently OK. Another reason to stay on the marked trail I would say.
  15. Nowa - how were the to/from Derby conditions? Will be going out of there later this week.
  16. Sounds like a very good price where you almost can't lose. Most of you know I am a Yamaha guy but I won't comment on the Venture Lite b/c I don't have any experience with that model and I unfortunately don't know anyone who has one. I would offer that you do some research on ty4stroke.com as there is lots of good info there. (I CAN say that that engine is close to bullet-proof though.)
  17. Sorry to hear about the brand new Genius going to crap. I have heard only good about them until this. Ice, let us know what the final diagnosis is? Since the Etec battery was inside and still needed a boost, I would say it is a bad battery or maybe bad connection since it started next time. (could also be bad internal connector that riding vibration opens/closes to make dead cell) Sounds like a great trip. Thanks letting us 'voyeurs' share.
  18. Looks like 2 of us will be riding the week before. Not sure where we will base from but the plan (as of now) is to drive from Vt to somewhere in la Beauce, park the truck and bag for a day or two to a base, then ride day trips out of wherever that base is. (It may be even be Amqui Selectotel??) Just wondering who might be in the area that week before?
  19. Very good memory my friend. That was at least 10yrs back (?) I am sure you got them "pointed". Sounds like he was 'in panic' from their situation. If you don't know the place, you would not expect gas so someone telling you "go there" was NG
  20. Huh. These are the only pics on the site that appear that way/that I can't see??? I'll check my iPad later to compare -
  21. Did somebody run out of gas - or was it worse than that??
  22. Snowcrazed - your pictures aren't visible and show up as only a tile with a red 'X' and filename.jpg. (Or am I the only one that is having trouble with his pics?)
  23. I always caution folks about snow in the Gaspe when they are planning their trips. There are many tales similar to yours on here. I know there are some who will scoff, but when traveling with women and/or children (or if you DON'T like to fight 10' drifts all day): when it snows more than a few inches don't travel; wait out the storm and let the groomers work. This is doubly true when traveling along the north shore!! The wind changes even a few inches of snow into the large drifts you encountered and after awhile - at least for me (and some others) - it isn't fun anymore. I am glad everything turned OK for you but as you said, you missed allot of great scenery and great trails just because of the snow. I hope your next trip is more enjoyable!!
