  1. Anyone know if having proof of purchase on your phone only is acceptable. Example we are doing 6 day NB/Gaspe trip. One day NB, 3 day Gaspe then 2 back in NB to finish. With weather, breakdowns etc really don’t want to buy permits until night before when we won’t have access to a printer?
  2. Thanks Groomer Glad your wine didn’t spill. 😊
  3. Just read on Facebook that the arch in the rock has collapsed. First l ever heard that and would think it would be big news. Any truth to that?
  4. I believe Club Fontbrune, the lodge down the trail from Rabaska grooms that with their own groomer. They cater to the European crowd. Makes loops from their location so much more practical. Don’t know why it hasn’t become part of the FCMQ system.
  5. Thinking about sending this draft email to: Zec Martin Valin Tourism Saguenay Tourism Quebec, should also cc every business in the area We have two week long snowmobile trips planned for your region. One week with a group of 6 men, another couples trip with 6 people. Both for strictly on trail riding. Recently found out about your new ZEC fee. The precedent set by this fee could become devastating to snowmobiling in Quebec. We spend approximately $2,000.00 per person a week on sled trips. This is a sum of $24,000.00 spend on food, lodging gas etc supporting all your regional businesses. For many of these businesses the snowmobile revenue is their sole source of income. Due to your new fees and the way it has been poorly handled we are considering changing our destination to one week in the Gaspe and another in New Brunswick. We were very warmly welcomed in New Brunswick last winter. Our dollars will get spend, just not in your region. There is also rumours your patrollers are targeting out of province riders. This is very concerning. Sincerely xxxxxx Any comments good or bad before l fire it away?
  6. Iceman l’m assuming this would be just for one individual ZEC? So a $149.00 yearly pass wouldn’t cover you for all 84 ZEC in the province?
  7. Great report and pictures. We missed you by one day. We stayed at Mekoos Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night. Great weather and trails.
  8. There is a garage at Matapedia village that has a tilt deck. I saved a picture of the truck couple years ago so would have the name. Can’t find the pic on my phone. May be on an iPad. Will keep looking.
  9. At Fer Cheval now for lunch. I ordered the Chicken Caesar salad. 10 minutes after l ordered friend hands me his phone with the above on Twitter. Will report back later. Gathering napkins off table at the moment.
  10. Jack l know you don’t normally saddle bag but a one day ride to Moose Valley, NB, spend the night then back to RDL would be a great trip.
  11. I would book the Copper Hotel in Murdochville if that is one of your planned stops. In 2020 we were a group of 4 doing the Gaspe.and winging hotels. Called the Copper night before heading there and they were all booked . Had to change our route and ended up staying at LaCache in the motel units which are now gone. Only way to book the Copper hotel is to call. Jack is the owner and speaks very good English.
  12. Hi Jack, You likely know this is the free weekend coming up? Between the new snow and extra traffic on limited number of trails l’m speculating trails won’t be great until mid week next week when they have time to get everything groomed up from the weekend.
  13. We will be in the Gaspe Feb. 27, 28, March 1 doing a three day loop then back into New Brunswick for a couple days. Mont Laurier Feb 2-5.
  14. Trails look great. l wouldn’t want to show up at Mekoos or Repos at noon this coming Saturday with the free weekend. Almost no snow in Ontario and sounds like half the free world is going to be in Mont Laurier or St Zenon this weekend.
  15. The Captain of one of the groups l go to Quebec with send out a group text to get opinions about bringing a new guy on. l jokingly replied: As long as he’s not a Liberal or rides an Arctic Cat
  16. Steven do they speak good English if l call. Don't seem to get reply back from many places when email. Regret l didn’t have a better attitude when they forced us to take French back in school.
  17. One of our trips this winter we want to start from Hotel Roquemont and head north. Second night we will be somewhere in the Mont Valin area. Been to Mont Valin area couple times past few years so l’m familiar with the east side of the Sageunay River. Not familiar with the area south of LSJ and looking for lodging suggestions first night. Windigo or Le Relais 22 look like options. Any pro or cons between the two for group of men? Our first day of riding will be Sunday. Would trail 73 possibly be in better shape vs the 23 on a Sunday. If Windigo or Le Relais isn’t the spot then what other suggestions in the Roberval/ Alma area. Thanks
  18. This is the route we do after taking suggestions from Quebec Rider veterans for several years. 5 days from Mont Joli, 6 days if want to start in RDL. Your missing out not doing the north shore from Cap Chat to Mont St Pierre. On the south shore between Chandler and New Richmond is the least desirable part of loop. Flat, not much to see. The 587S (green trail) from south of the Albertville clubhouse down to Pointe a La Croix is real nice ride vs taking the trail 5. Perce Rock is low on my priority list if your short of time.
  19. Men’s trip we do 300-330 km. Works perfect for five day trip. Lot of the Gaspe isn’t fast riding due to the terrain and scenery which makes it such a great trip. Especially in Feb with shorter days if you try doing more you will end your day in the dark. First trip you will be doing more stopping for pictures etc. Pick your starting point: Riviere du loup Mont Joli Matane then people can make suggestions for hotels. Also how many days you have available to ride.
  20. Try Camp Taureau, Lodge on the north end of Lac Taureau.
  21. Additions to Florida Snowman’s list Cap Chat: 1. Motel Nanook, restaurant 5 minute walk, basic motel, great breakfast 2. Village Grande Nature Chic Choc lodge Sainte Anne Des Mont: Hotel Cie, nice place , good restaurant Mont Saint Pierre: Motel Le Delice would be first choice over the MSP Motel New Richmond: Just west of New Richmond at town of Maria: Auberge Du Marchand, nice hotel, excellent restaurant Pointe A-La Croix: Hotel Interprovincial Questions: 1.Table du Roland in Perce hasn’t been open past couple winters. Anyone know about this year? 2. LaCache, anyone know if they build any new lodging this summer. Nothing new on their web site.
  22. Posted by NORTHBOUND last March Hopefully by next year the transport will not be needed, but if it is, this is what we found, today. We were headed west from sept isle. Called from Baie Comeau last night. Called the guy in Pointe-aux-outardes, seemed most logistical. He owns the Petro Canada gas station in that town and has 2 rollback trucks. Nice guy named Thomas. We told him we would get into town at 9am. Trail goes right into town. He dropped us at a side road crossing at Columbier. But he is flexible. He could have picked us up in Baie Comeau or dropped us in Forestville. But he charges by the hour, so shorter is better. He charged us 135 plus tax. His rate is 100 per hour. All 3 of the guys on the poster are independent. Didn't check with the others. This guy seemed reasonable and was easy to work with. Jeff and Sandy
  23. How many days do you want to ride from same location?
  24. We day tripped out of Val’dor one year. That area is mainly flat and straight , not much scenery. Go to YouTube and search: SLEDADDICZ They posted some good videos of riding Val’dor and western Quebec last winter. From them you can get a good feel for the area. For day tripping from one location l would suggest Mont Laurier and the area to the north. There is hotels in town but the best idea is to stay at Rabaska or Mekoos Lodge, both about 45 minute drive north of Mont Laurier. From the lodges good options for day loops and you can run the loops to the north up to Fer Cheval and 100 du Lac lodges for lunch. Have Devils Mountain and Chute du Windigo to ride to. The whole area is scenic rolling winding trails, faster running on the northern loops. Mont Laurier would be your closest drive from PA also. No way l would drive the extra hours to ride Val’dor.
