  1. Thanks alot Playhard, that is very valuable information (especially the phone #) as we are passing through that neck of the woods in 2 weeks.
  2. What's this is see, is that foot prints??? you're loosing your touch JG and making holes in the trails too, what are we to do with you now? lol. Nice pics JG, thanks alot, some locals and are thinking of returning to the Gaspe in March for a year ender, hope to meet up with you again.
  3. Nice pics Je me Souviens, those trails up there are highways. Do you remember if there was a gas stop between La Domaine and the indian reserve?
  4. There is the Auberge Viceroy in Montpellier where you can arrive at, park and they have rooms. Nice place. http://www.aubergeviceroy.com/ I have a house on Lac Gagnon in Duhamel and i can vouch for Fozzy, the trails are terrific up there, especially the parc trail going up to Val Barrette or Kiamika. A little further north of Montpellier just before Duhamel there is this fantastic log cabin outfit called Les Couleurs de France(the Coleurs of France) a must to stop at. http://www.chaletcouleursdefrance.com/
  5. In Canada when buying an American vehicule we have to fill out a RIV report (Registered Import Vehicule) $220.00 for the report and then get the vehicule inspected (cost included in the report) at an affiliated establishment that is recognized by the RIV report, then pay the taxes and your ready to register at the dmv. Call the border they will steer you in the right direction. JG
  6. Ditto...was at a ski-doo relais around Quebec on my trip last weekend and we were all standing around talking about how snowmobiles have changed alot over the years after a 4 stroke Arctic Cat strolled though the parking lot sounding like an atv. For fun we counted the sleds there and i don't excactly remember how many there were but i do remember there were more than 20 sleds there, and you know what, and i do remember this very vividly, there were only 2 2stroke sleds there. This was a big eye opener for all of us, sleds are changing and riders are following. It's a fact guys....4 strokes are in and here to stay. Now that the technology is here it's only going to get better.
  7. I was only thinking of you when that groomer came by :) , it was at the intersection of 353-302 St.Ubalde Myself the 2 Francois's Dan and Mike and Burke from NY, get that sled you just picked up from the US registered and we ride bro. Like i said good for a coffee and maybe a soup, nice place nice guy but continue on to Lac Edward for lunch. There is an Auberge down the street from L'Etape, it's a provincial parc outfit, you were able to stay there in the past but it did not see any signs of operation this year when i passed by. That trail you're talking about was there and groomed when we passed by. Wish you could've came Crazysnow, see what you missed. Keep some holidays open for the next 2-3 weeks, i'll pm you later this week when we have our next ride dates nailed down. Those days are over, we wanted to weigh in the cost of a room vs the cost of 2 vehicules parking there for the weekend just in case if the room would've been cheaper. 2 vehicules and trailers for 2 nights and 3 days came to $114.00, room for one night double occupancy $120.00. They know what their doing.
  8. Would you remember the milage between LSQ and Chapais?
  9. Oh! BTW nice pics 182ray, love the one where one is taking a pic of another taking a pic of the other...........what did the gps give you for top speed?
  10. We did not sleep there Iceman, arrived friday morning and left sunday afternoon. Two nights three days, a little overcharged if you ask me. Our american friends stayed there thursday night and was able to leave their vehicule for the same time period free of charge. Le Cabanon charged us last year only 10 bucks a night when we did our Reservoir Goiun trip.
  11. Cool, we'll carry fuel and skip Waswanipi detour.
  12. Check Whalers post on Bas St.Laurent regional forum.
  13. Sleddog, what would say the milage be from LSQ to Chapais.
  14. Chriswright what would you say the milage is from LSQ to Chapais?
  15. Thanks Iceman, that was my next move.
  16. Day 1 The 4 of us drove up from Montreal to Shawinagan to meet some friends from NY at the Gouveneur, dropped our sleds there. Beware folks they charged us 57$ for each vehicule to park there for the weekend, we'll have to find another parking spot the next time. We took the M1(not groomed) out of Shawinagan to the 23(well groomed) to the M3 up the river to the 360, bought some gas in Mekinac aand the up to the pipeline 355 to the 73. We wanted to try the new trail and short cut LT1 but it wasn't groomed and the 355 was really nice so we continued on. The 73 brought us to the 355 once more and up to Lac Edward for lunch. Continued to Lac Bouchette then to the 83 which had been snowed on and a single lane had been packed down for about 80k up to the 373, then into Roberval. The river Mauricie More river The pipeline The pepiline Auberge Trappeur nice for a coffee but that's all! Day 2 Out of Roberval we took the shortcut across the lake to Chambord and then the 83 to the 23 down to L'Etape, these trails were in great shape, the 23 was a highway. Out of L'Etape we took the 369 to the 3 which was mogal city for about 20klms to a local trail which lead us into Sainte Anne de Beaupre for the night. The local trail was groomed to perfection, those local trails are very surprising sometimes. Chambord 369 south of L'Etape Same Day 3 Back on the 3 west and we got lucky, the groomer came in overnight and cleaned out those mogals. Went up the 73 to St.Raymond and had lunch. 73 to the 353-302-351-3 and M1 into Shawinagan, these were the best trails all weekend. Trip logged on 1050klms. St.Lawrence The 3 Bridge in Quebec for Groomer Shawinagan
  17. Nice report sleddog, just got in last night from a 3 day 1050klm ride myself. I particularlly like your report on the trail from LSQ to Chibougamau, we are planning on doing that loop in 2 weeks, we were supposed to have done it this weekend but 2 out 6 of us had to work on monday. I will post a photo report later. Thanks for that info Quebec Bob, i have an 08 Apex with 16k on it now and this weekend i found my sled was doing poorly on milage, gas light would show up at 145klms and some times 135klms, i know from previous experience i can run 35klms on the light before the sled stalls even adding that it's still too little i find. I keep a 5l spare can on board now at all times. I just changed my chaincase, driveshaft and jack shaft bearings, maybe i tightened the track too much. Would you have any additional tips on how to get more milage out my 08 Apex, i'm a little disappointed, my 04 RX1 used to get 220-240klms from a tank. I am most certain these sleds can do alot better without having to dump in tons of money on aftermarket products to improve their performance. JG
  18. Don't let the FCMQ police see this one Busted!!!....lol.
  19. Ohhhhhhh you`re gonna pay for that one 182ray!!! when it comes to offroad JG nows best.
  20. Hi Bill Sorry i could`nt make it to the HS, the group opted for the Chauteau Roberval, would`ve been nice to have met up with you again. This morning we left Shawinagan and parked it in Roberval giving us 455klms on our meters. I met some guys from Boston this morning at the Gouverneur, they`re riding a Mach z 1000 and a black Yamaha, they were going to the HS tonight. If you speak with them ask them why they were turning back to Lac Edward, tell them i said hi. I`ll be back JG
