  1. Myself, MACDAV, and another fellow went for a little twist in the Gaspe. We had a four day run and put on just under 700 miles. That may not sound like much but we ran into a true Gaspesie snow storm. We left from Pointe a la Croix Thursday morning traveling up through the Matepdia Valley, trail were A1 as usual. We stopped long enough to have a beer with the Grooming Embassador of the Gaspe. We stopped the first night in Sainte Annes Des Monts. Lots of snow in front of the Bus The next day we struck off Eastward, there was a little snow in the air, trails were perfect. It did not take long to see it had snowed in the night and with elevation the depth of snow increased. By the time we started coming down out of the hills into La Martre we had hit sections breaking trail all the way, with more than 40 inches of fresh powder. At the lookout at Mont Saint Pierre there was an easy 36 inches of fresh, we were still the first sleds through. All that powder is hard to manuover in some times. LOL We drove over as far as Murdochville and back to MSP for the night. Trails from MSP to Murdochville were groomed to perfection. A couple pictures coming back through the powder. We were almost all the way back through before we met any other sleds, no one had been through since we were the day before. That night we stayed in Matane at the Quality Inn where we had a couple of beers. and maybe a laugh or two. We stopped at the warming shack at the edge of Groomers area, 25 miles from the truck. Trails through the Matepedia still perfect. I would recommmend to anyone to explore some of the back local trail in that area, some very nice scenery.
  2. And so the Adventure begins...LOL
  3. Well put Trailblazer. This is a sawmill, not a gas station, they are doing this because of their believe in organized snowmobiling. The pumps certianly were not put in to make money from snowmobilers but to service their logging contractors and employees. Getting gas here is a privilage.
  4. I just looked on the Weather Network for Murdochville and if you count the high end of the numbers there is 74 cm coming between now and Tuesday. I realize that is suject to change but WOW!! Checking around the Gaspesie Region snowfall amounts, this should open the trails that haven't had enough snow to date.
  5. Nice report RoadRunner. We must have just missed you. We unloaded at Pointe a la Croix at 8am Sunday morning. We did a little run through the Gaspe, and put on a little over 800 miles.
  6. Andy did a pretty good job with the updates, here are some pictures to go with. La Martre for gas Site De L'ours TQ5 Mont Saint Pierre South out of Murdochville Can anyone say WFO!! Trail #597 The Bus St Paulin Relais
  7. That is good news. I know running that way will be an option tomorrow. We are coming up tomorrow with no real plans at all of which way we are heading.
  8. Merry Christmas everyone and may all your trails be freshly groomed or 1' of fresh powder!!
  9. Merry Christmas Jean Guy. We will likely hook up for a coffee on the 27th at the gas station.
  10. I think you need to have at least 10 posts on the board before you can send a PM
  11. Yes, a terrible accident. Everyone needs to be very careful around water this early in the season. I think last season started very much the same, wasn't there a hockey player go through the ice in Western Quebec about this time?
  12. You do an excellent report Alain. I recognized a few of the places in your pictures from being in that area last winter, Keep up the good work and pictures.
  13. A list was just started in the General Section, check it out. I plan to be in the Gaspe January 7-10 maybe we will cross paths. Be sure to stop and see Groomer on the way through.
