  1. A few of us are heading to the Gaspesie after the roads close. Spring sledding up there is awesome and it looks like conditions are going to be great. Lots of snow on the south shore of the gaspe, incredible amounts on the north shore and no mild weather in the immediate forecast. Anyone else going to be there at the same time?
  2. You will have to get up early and ride steady to make the ferry. You should try to be at the terminal by 1pm.
  3. Great report, a little slim on pictures. LOL Most people that go to the Gaspesie for the first time say they will return.
  4. That is hard to believe!! Where do these guys come from??
  5. In the Gaspesie there are many: TQ 5 in Matane TQ5 Riviere Madeleine. 288 feet TQ 5 near Gaspe TQ 5 halfway between pointe a la Croix and albertville 597 just outside Chandler
  6. Just a piece of advice, call ahead a day or two and make a reservation for the ferry crossing.
  7. Haha. Your right Grumpy, you don't have to make it theft proof, just harder to steal than the others around you!!
  8. Sounds like you had a great trip, the Gasps always is fun. Weather can change things so fast in the Gaspesie! I am not surprised you are going back again, a very addictive place to sled!!
  9. Open with trail conditions showing good. Make sure you get to the top of the hill behind the town for a great view of the Rock!
  10. Punch in the Weather Network then Matane, Murdochvile, Perce, then New Richmond, that should cover most of your trip.
  11. Your right Tom, unpredictable is a good description. I have been detoured down the 132 on a few occasions because of too much snow in the hills! All part of what makes the Gasps great. Heading up for a 4 day weekend starting March 5th. Spring sledding is awesome up there!
  12. Riding in the Gaspe is always an adventure! I have never been to a place that can dump as much show in such a short time and effect trail so much. Extremes of weather and elevation make it an adventure. Glad you didn't have any serious issues and did get lots of good riding.
  13. Foot prints!?!? I thought there was a herd of cattle walked along there!!! LOL
  14. I didn't realize this dealership was still open. I knew it was there years ago.
  15. It is always a good practice to carry a bit of cash.
  16. I think the only Yamaha dealer in the Gaspe is in Pointe a LA Croix. Any good quality synthetic motor oil should work in your sled.
  17. A very good practice!! I have witnessed what can happened if you dont lock the sleds up. Not good.
  18. There is one thing for sure, clubs in the Gaspesie can move snow. This area seems to get lots of extreme storms but the clubs know how to fix their trails quickly. I am sure by Friday it will be seamless. Hopefully the bearded man will keep on the trails till they are blue on the conditions map.
  19. The Quality Inn in Matane is a good spot, easy to get in and out. I have never heard of sled issues in Matane. Ask for a ground floor room out back. Just follow the signs for the ferry.
  20. The picture of the machine through the snow covered branch is very nice.
  21. It is looking like the low snow areas are starting to fill in up there now!! Yes, the one with the little cabin is a nice picture. However picture #3 it looks like the trail hasn't been groomed in a very long time...perhaps the operator has been hanging out at the clubhouse flirting with the waitress too much!?!? LOL
