  1. John, come on up, got plenty of room. Gary, looking forward to it. I'll let the spa know you are enroute! Went west today and nice riding. Tomorrow will check out easterly. Heard Montmagny area not good, not groomed, trees down. That is according to Jack and Sandi who came thru that area yesterday. mike
  2. You two are quite the adventurers! Sounds like I might be glad I made the trip up. See you at the hotel. mike
  3. Thanks all. Jack and Sandi, did you ride over from Berniers or trailer here. mike
  4. Its time to ride and I arrived at RDL tonight, finally. Driving north through New Brunswick and into Quebec, arriving into QC at dusk, I got about 40 miles from the hotel and it started looking good. About a foot of snow, looks powdery. Saw a groomer, saw sleds on trails, groomed trail crossings by the road, some sleds and trailers in the hotel yard, and lastly, the manager of the Universal Hotel said trails are great! Rm 106 cell# 207-522-2673 texts only This post is for all snowmobilers to provide info and trail conditions of this area for the enjoyment of others. Snow, groomed trails, a new sled, and a week off. Doesn't get any better. Happy trails. mike
  5. Looks like nice conditions. Have a great trip. mike
  6. Nice Prizes! Very generous.
  7. Beautiful pics GT Rider, especially the last one. Thanks. mike
  8. Pretty discouraging, and in three days I start vacation. Can only hope tonight's storm is a big one. Could be worse, I almost retired last month. At least now I have something to do four days a week,,,work! mike
  9. Give us a report if you make it to RDL. I am due there this Friday and am a little concerned about conditions. mike
  10. Nice report Steve. So tell me, which Canadian Province is the beer drinking capital of Canada, New Brunswick or Nova Scotia. mike
  11. Thanks Ray and Bill, I may have to drive up and join you for a taste of that rouge. You may be in a very popular area if everything south of you gets rain. Mountains in Maine by the Quebec border are calling for 3 inches of rain today. Have fun. mike
  12. I always enjoy reading your daily reports Bill. Looking forward to meeting up at some point this winter. mike
  13. Wow Andy, with a sled like that I assume you will be spending the winter looking for those secret shortcuts out of Chibougamou. Or is it on to Hudson Bay. That is one serious sled! Looks nice. mike
  14. Nice Andy,. Did you get a new sled? And which is yours, just so I'll know its you when we pass this winter. mike
  15. Another easy solo ride is to start in Eustis, Maine ( Rt 27 north of Sugarloaf), cross into Canada at Woburn, which is below Lac Megantic. My old age memory is getting foggy, but as I recall it is a day ride to Valcourt. Or just make your way NW towards Sorel or Trois Rivers and take a transport across the river and head over to QC and transport again south across the river. Or stay south of the river and loop around for a couple days west of Lac Megantic and then head east to RDL and Ampui. All good areas for solo riding. I also felt comfortable solo out to Matane also, but never again would I take the ferry across and solo the north shore back to QC.
  16. Thinking about Maine & New Brunswick, a nice trip is to start in Jackman, Maine, make your way thru Millinocket and up to Aroostook County/Fort Kent area. Then cross into New Brunswick, into Quebec, and come back around to St. George and over the border back to Jackman. Two days in Maine and then you can hit New Brunswick for a day or two and finish out what ever days you have left in Quebec. I've done this trip solo a few times back in the early 2000's. mike
  17. I've always stayed at the Universal. But of four vacations this winter, I've only got reservations for one week. I'll reserve the future vacations about a week in advance each time.
  18. Maybe someone can add some light to this, but the several times I've ridden through New Brunswick I have found so-so grooming and not much for scenery. The Maine section by new Brunswick (Aroostook County) is renowned for being good, but from experience it doesn't match Quebec. mike
  19. Yes, second vacation starts Jan 27th. Be there for about 10 days. Haven't booked that week yet, soon though. Be great to see you. mike
  20. Would be good to see the crew! mike
  21. Are you guys headed to RDL in the next couple weeks. I hope to go up around the 15th or 16th and stay a week. Looks like it should be great. I seem to remember Tom saying he was going north on the 14th. But he didn't say where. mike
  22. Thanks RR for the report. About ten days and I'll be heading up. mike
  23. Go to sledmagazine.com and click on trail conditions. This site serves as the trail condition site for fcmq clubs. Shows each region and each sub region; very easy to get a quick idea of the region's conditions. mike
  24. Sledmagazine.com lists trail conditions and for what it is worth, Riviere du Loup is reporting best trail conditions of all the regions. I just don't know how accurate it is. mike
