The "finally pulled the trigger" trip

Well after delaying coming to Quebec for the last two weeks due to weather and changing reservations one more time we rolled into the Four Points in Quebec City at 11:30 last night . On this trip Rob and his wife Sheri have joined Nora and myself. With all the great story tellers out on respective trips I just can't seem to cross any of their paths! Decided today to do a local loop to let the ladies get use to their new sleds . I like new snow but in small doses . This area got hammered and I knew it would be busy in this area today and it would be wooped up on our return. We did 3/302/365/some oranges / Saint Raymond 73/more oranges / and finally 3 . Everything was groomed but soft! We must of passed 100 sleds today.

I contacted Magnus earlier in the week who lives close to the four points and asked him to join us for the morning ride on Saturday up to L'tape . He was game so he came and joined us tonight at a great micro - brewery close to the hotel. Well worth the 10 minute taxi ride from the hotel. Going to get at it early to beat the crowds .

Well Iceman the plan is not written in stone. Tonight Lac Moreau that's it. Then over the river . We have to be back to Ontario Friday night . I hate riding in the rain so will follow the weather closely and change accordingly .

The plan is never in stone for sure.

I should have phrased it, what you thinking? Instead of what's the plan.

Archibald is a great place, great beer, food and company! Heading outside to warm up my sled and inspect my very own local trail to the 304.

Archibald love them, we got one in Trois Riveres too. Playhard was at Archibald in QC last night.

Back from my trip to L'Étape with snowfarmer and his crew. The ride up there was absolutely amazing. The 369 was excellent but TQ3 was beyond terrible riding back from Mont Sainte Anne.

That is crazy! Same time Friday night. Too bad we didn't know. Archibald's ROCKS.

Rolled down from north of the ferry Friday night to stay right by the airport so one of our gang could catch an early flight to Fla.

Ok , no internet last night (besides needed to pay attention to the wife , she says I'm oppressed with with this stuff. Nooo :) ) Met Up with Magnus at 8:30 on Sunday and headed out on freshly groomed trail 3 east. Took 369 north to L'tape at Mont Saint Anne cut off . It was fantastic ! 23 north out of L'tape but was good a lot of traffic .took 368 east and it was beat pretty good . Been groomed since the last storm but just soft and a lot of traffic . When we crossed over the 175 it got a lot better. Then took 383 south to Ferland and all was good ! Did 83 then local to Lac Moreau . Had the S#%}! Scared out of me on that short stretch of 83! The south bound side ( our side was groomed recently) came into a courner a guy was apexing the courner ( you know how wide 83 is!!!) two sled lengths is what we missed by! Crap . 225 for the day .

Today was a show the ladies a good time day. Quality vs quantity . We left Lac Moeau headed up 83 to 383 north . Trails had been groomed in the last couple of day with about 3 inches of fresh snow on top. The sun was out and not a cloud in sight! Took our time , and made use of the many picture opportunities that come along on the south side of the river. Crossed over the river and took 3 to the relay outside of Les Escoumins. Stopped for a beverage and then took local trail to 3 again to the Hotel Pelchat . 150 quality miles and the wives who have never been this way loved it.

That 3 in Quebec David can get really bad. Tons of sleds and traffic there.

JG, I was thinking on my way up 23 about that time all of were traveling together to the meet and how brutally cold it was that day . My heated visor had broken and couldn't see a thing. That was the last time I had been on that trail! Met a lot of great people that day!

Today was pretty simple , but knew it could be a little hard to see and I was right . Woke up to light snow and about 3 inches of accumulation . No big deal . So left on 3 west and got up to the relais where you take the Phelchat trail and the snow stop so all was good . Great scenery and even though the trail had not been groomed lately it was all good . ( groomer is going tonight) the guy at the relais told us . Also he said other side from where the groomer stops not to good to Mt Valins . Well it may be flat light but will have the groomer banks to guide us. The new snow got noticely deeper the more north we went and by the time we hit the un- groomed section the wind had started up and it was snowing again . It looked like two sleds had passed today or yesterday so follow in there tracks. All would be it good so I thought till the open area . Crap , totally flat light , snowing and wind when we got to the logged open section , Let the red / blue stakes be your friend ( iceman saying) but a little light on them in this section to say the least. Got through it but took awhile and there are some pictures of moi the leader off course and stuck but all ended well. Got to the Chappel for lunch then hit 93 west which was groomed last night( 6 inches of new snow on top!). Got gas at Passion the took 328 east then local trail and happen to follow the groomer to our place of residence for the night.(Auberge la Tourelle du Fjord. ) A great day of riding a lot of fresh powder! 150 miles for the day .
