iceman
Back in the US of A. Left Thursday afternoon for the annual gathering at Playhards in the Berkshires. Had a great run down and brought the cold with us. Spent Friday just relaxing and hanging out. Saturday morning in rolls NHMoose and Snohorse. We catch up and head out with the quads. Snohorse has brought his John Deere Gator and what a beast. We head for Pittsfield Forest and we are off on a few hour tour in weather more suited for sleds than quads but there is that one big issue. It’s cold but no snow. Anyway my sleds ain’t gonna be ever seeing these trails with snow. The tour is awesome we have a great time, near the end of our run. Playhard tests the limits on a beaver damned up area. We have decided to launch a new enterprise.... ice quad logging. Stay tuned for the first episode. hparaptor
Spent lots of time riding the trails of Pittsfield forest with my first raptor. Stopped riding when the state proposed limits on the number of riders per day. Will have to dig up a few shots from the archives and compare results. I'm considering renewing my registration just to see if any team stickers are left behind..... did you get to Jiminy peak? Trail climbs the back side of the mountain and if the slopes are open the restaurant will be open for snacks and warm beverages. Anyway, if you have a chance, ride beartown forest. Trails are more technical and less traveled (well, that was my impression 14 years ago). PLAYHARD
PLAYHARD
Last year they stopped requiring the daily reg/permits in the 4 remaining Mass forests. Thank goodness the current DCR crew are all motorheads, vs the previous tree-huggers. The Pittsfield Forest trailhead to Jiminy is kinda gnarly now, so momentum is your friend. Yeah Beartown like Tolland are still (sort of) open with "technical" stuff like you said. But trails aren't quite tied together so the only legit way to do it is by DP 2-wheelers. Savoy's closed to dirt wheels, so Pitt & Rock'tober Mtn are the go-tos for great quadding.
PLAYHARD
Less than a minute on Potter Mtn Rd and Snow Hors pulls right up in the Deere limo and goes angry beaver on a blow down: Shane and groomer

NH-Moose
A great time with a great Team Iceman crew, many thanks. There were frozen mudsickles forming on the machines as we arrived back at the trucks, a sure sign winter is near. And the most amazing part of the story......Playhards canvas shoes were completely dry after the extract. That’s experience!
