wng-2
Is there any way to order regional (Paper) trail maps? Thanks.
fredsleds
If you have a smart phone, in my opinion the FCMQ map is the best option. it shows you where you are, let's you map routes, stops, etc. It's cheap and super easy to use, way easier than getting out a paper map 20 times a day. Just my opinion. I think from the FCMQ site you may be able to download and print maps. Also, just about every gas stop, snowmobile club, and hotel will also have either a posted paper map or one available to take for free. Have a great ride! slomo

Here you go - in case your phone stops working! (ha ha - although that is a great app.) A list of different regions and links to order or download: https://snowmobileinquebec.com/snowmobilers-guide/?source_campaign=Motoneige_SEM&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItrOq4Z2B4AIVBLbICh3Obg8rEAAYASAAEgLnxvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Maps usually show up in the mail (in Canada anyway) within 5 to 7 days. It being the Christmas mail rush, your results may differ.
wng-2
Thanks very much. I actually do have to app on my phone. I'm old though. I like the paper maps. My phone service doesn't work in Canada. I assume the app will still work, but won't know my location?
mrgrumpers
As long as don’t force kill the application while running in the background. You can turn cell service off and it will still use your gps location. Use it daily, setup the trip at breakfast and I am good to go all day. wng-2

Good link and especially helpful is this part of it - a map of the different regions if you are unfamiliar with them : https://snowmobileinquebec.com/destinations/ Took a lot of work and research to figure these all out working with an unfamiliar language to boot! Jackstraw
Why not use via explora on your computer? http://fcmq.viaexplora.com/indexen.html?lat=47.613570&lng=-73.674316&zoom=7&force=1&ewaypoints=4835169,-7410828&cst=1.0%2C1.01%2C1.05&csts=&cstr=&spd=50000,,#map
fredsleds
Actually, I put my phone on airplane mode. This saves batteries since your phone isn't always "looking" for a cell signal. The GPS and app work fine in airplane mode. I carry a charging cord and every time we stop I plug the phone in. Last 3-4 hours even when super cold. i use RAM emoluments to attach it to the sled. Just have to glance at phone at intersections and you know right away which way to go. Fred

I was on a conference call Wednesday evening where it was explained that our regional tourism authority (Tourisme Outaouais) will have a point person with access to the back end of the FCMQ's interactive map (which also links to the iMotoneige phone app ... I think! My french isn't the best either!). Each regional tourism authority will coordinate with its various clubs to gather up to date trail conditions and upload those conditions - with comments if necessary (i.e. open waterway, washed out bridge, logging, etc) to the FCMQ map apps. The frequency of these updates (daily, every couple of days, weekly) will depend on the availability of the club's point person to provide them. Fortunately, we have a young, web-savvy and perfectly bilingual (she manages a shop of federal government translators) director who has grabbed the reins of this project and has promised to provide weekly trail condition updates to our regional authority where it will then be uploaded to the FCMQ site. It sounds like a good and viable initiative, and we're interested to see how well it works. Of course, groomer activities (the groomer delay button) will still work too. actionjack and wng-2
