On the subject of trail passes, sent mine in about two weeks ago and hasn't arrived via mail yet....

Just got an e-mail from FCMQ that was mostly in French, but in English said there is a postal strike in Canada, and said to read the section in French that explains what they are doing about this problem.  Anyone get this e-mail and can translate what the FMCQ is doing about it and are they giving any predictions what the delays will be.  Is the postal totally shut down by the strike or are they partially running on a skeletal crew?

My lost 2025 trail pass purchased in the early 2024 sale that was previously replaced by the FCMQ arrived this past Friday, 11 of April. The envelope was correctly stamped October 2024. I wonder what route it took. :  )

I can't remember the trail numbers,  but basically #85 south past RDL clubhouse, continue 85 south onto RR bed,  left onto orange trail 40?, then onto green trails to St Cyprien and then Squatec.   Gas up in Squatec, jump on 35 east for about 15 or so miles and watch for well posted sign (right turn) to MV.   When you get to NB border you can bear right or left to get to MV,

    About 240 miles round trip.

Believe MV only takes cash,  no cards. Lunch time is usually packed, best to get an early start.  Gas usually available  but expensive. Some high speed running so plan to get not so great mpg.   Fantastic run, beautiful.

Mike, thank you. Your directions to M.V. were on point, even though we "almost made it but did not." We will return and do it another day.

On Thursday, 02/20/25, we departed from the Universal. in RDL and ran your directions. After crossing from QC into NB and coming to the fork on NB trail #135, we hit         un-groomed deep / drifted  snow, too deep for the heavy 900T Enduros. We went right, but after reaching the open land, it was apparent the logical choice was to turn around. We backtracked and ate at the neighboring ski mountain in Biencourt, QC. We returned to RDL using 571 to the Troi Pistoles clubhouse & then 5 to the hotel.Nonetheless, we had a fantastic day / week.

To date, 02/24/25, the Moose Valley NB club has not posted any updates despite saying they would when 135 opened. The last post, dated 2/21, states that trail 135 Moose Valley to Biencourtt remains blocked with snow drifts, some as high as 15'. The club wrote they would post as soon as 135 is passable, but for now, they suggest coming up from Ville Degelis-Edmundston.

It was great catching up with a number of you during the week. Travel safely.

    Best to all,

    Paddy O

  3. Local Riviere Du Loup relais Les Aventuriers closed on 2/18/25 due to recent heavy snowfall 😮🤔😆.

Many of you have probably witnessed it before, but I have not. I'm not sure if it was Traill 544 or the local not far from the referenced relais Aventuriers, but we encountered on the trail a tractor with a huge functioning snowblower attachment eating and throwing the snow off the trail. It was such a great effort to make the trail perfect. Despite trail impediments, it was a great day.

  4. Sadly closing confirmed for Friday, Feb 21, 2025 here at Restaurant Evasion /Golf St Pamphile. As I sit here having lunch. an employee stated the decision will not be changed as the recent change in trail openings came too late.

On a side note, trail conditions from Hotel Universal to Relais Hiboux to here, Golf St Pamphile are awesome. For past hour it has been snowing heavy. A total of 13” x 16” forecasted for today and another 6” x 7” tomorrow, Monday. Tuesday recently changed to zero.

    Stay safe,

    Paddy O

  5. It's disappointing. I'm not sure of the baseline cause, but if someone is ill, I wish for a speedy recovery. If someone or multiple people don't have the time to maintain it, I, too, understand that. I am grateful to all for their time, energy & posts, as this site and the information contained herein have been very helpful to me. I hope the site can be functional to what it once was.

To each of you, thank you.

  6. Notice to members

Effective as of February 13, 2025 at 00h01:

For safety reasons of our members, we are obliged to close the T83 trail from trail 22 - intersection 34 to intersection 37, that is to the heated shelter, the cabin at Bernard. Snowmobilers coexistence with ATV's and side-by-side is not possible being far too dangerous. We did not have an agreement with the ZEC to minimize the risks. We had an agreement on 500 meters, but now the ATV's are more than 30 kilometers in federated snowmobile trails. We estimate 2000 to 2,500 snowmobiles per week travel on the T83. The lives of our members are too precious.

  9. While researching lunch destinations from Rivière du Loup, I read this on FB, which is related to the Rest O Rang @ TSP Evasion, the restaurant on the St Pamphile Golf Course. I've included below some social media images to refresh some memories of those who may have previously visited and for accuracy to confirm both the golf course & restaurant have the same address. If this was previously posted, my apologies. Despite researching it, I did not find it herein. Does anyone have anything to add?

    Best,

    Paddy O

    Google Translate;

It is with emotion that we inform you today of the closure of Rest'O Rang at TSP Évasion. February 21, 2025 will be our last day of opening. Our rental chalets will remain
available for rent, a new formula will be offered shortly. In the meantime, we invite you to come and eat a good lunch, we will be happy to welcome you. The trigger for this quick decision is of course the partial closure of trail 55 from Beauce, this trail brought 70% of our traffic in winter. The Rest'O Rang team joins us in thanking you for your presence since 2020. It was an honor for us to count you among our valued customers.

Why black out the plate #? Would it hurt it's feelings?

I was thinking the same. The rider should be identified, tarred, and feathered. Because of the plate location, is it safe to assume it was a Canadian registration? If it is, I am relieved it was not a visitor from the States, but that does not make it any easier to accept. It is outright wrong, selfish, and inconsiderate, however you look at it.

I put 221k miles on that one.

    WOW! 221K...OMG...Congrats....

Great suggestions as we have done it a few times......Tooling around the Gaspesie, on the Road King, at that time, on a Sunday morning, when traveling through St Flavie (Mont-Joli) we came upon mass  being hosted by Église catholique Sainte-Flavie, outdoors on the banks of the St Lawrence. It was a pleasant surprise so we stopped & asked the man above, in part, to provide us safe travels. Thankfully he did. That trip anyway..ha ha. Since that time, I think the ugly looking guy, whose name starts with a "D", that hangs out below in the warmer grounds have intercepted my requests & thanks to the man above  :  )   Maybe some of you have also dealt with the "D".

The photos of the rock/ Perce was taken from our room at Hôtel la Normandie. The hotel is closed during the winter months but it is a favorite of ours on our summer jaunts. The on premise restaurant is exceptionally good.

Thanks to each of you. Stay safe, all.
