  1. Thanks GutZ. All installed. Did you notice any big changes? I saw several yellow trails over ice that are new.
  2. I have 100 Lacs at N47 26.975 W74 42.801 Casey at N47 53.279 W74 10.823 This is with WGS 84. Not sure if many people in Canada use this Datum
  3. I was down to one trip to QC a year. Used to do more like 3. This year 2. Yes exchange rate was a factor.
  4. Thanks for the link Markusvt. Just came back from a 3 day trip. Made all the routes on my computer and sent them to the GPS. The map never missed a turn the entire trip. I have never had trail maps that accurate. This was extremely helpful since my 2 companions had never ridden in QC before. Navigation that is usually by committee was completely on me.
  5. Looks like we won't be buying gas from a pickup truck in Wamo any more! About the chewed up idler wheels, I went through a few sets, ended up tightening up my studs a bit more and the problem went away. What a ride!
  6. I have been messing around with the interactive map via explora linked to the FCMQ web sight lately, and after seeing all it does I got the app for my ipod. Now on the linked sight on my laptop I can toggle on and off the grooming interval, along with fuel, food, hotels etc, but on the hand held devise the grooming in missing, all the other stuff is right there. Am I doing something wrong?
  7. Imagine being in Chibougamou and feeling like you are almost home!
  8. GOT IT! Thanks for all the help fellas. The trick turned out to be Basecamp rather than mapsource. I love this sight.
  9. The trails that are present are just gray. No route numbers either.
  10. Still having trouble. I started all over, erased and re downloaded the map on the computer. Sent just the new trail map to the GPS, made sure declutter is off, and detail is on most. I'm focusing on the Gouin resivoir because I know the older maps I have do not have those yellow trails. They still do not show on the GPS. They show in Mapsource just fine. Do I need to delete my old version of Sentiers Motoniege 2011 before the new one will work?
  11. Just loaded this onto my 60csx, I did not get any of the secondary trails to show on the map. My 2011 version works fine. The instructions were all french so I may have missed something. I have loaded maps many times sucessfully. Did anyone else have trouble?
  12. Your grocery store picture reminds me of Manawan.
  13. I love the free weekend Idea although I have not had a chance to do it yet. If FCMQ could make it the free weekend of your choice that would spread out the wear and tear on the trail system while allowing greater participation. I bet many people would tack on a 3 day pass for a 5 day trip. Back in the late 90's and early 2000's I used to come up about 3 times a year, and the budget was about $100.00 a day. Now it's once or twice a year and the budget is more like $250.00 a day. I don't think I'm spending less, just coming less.
  14. Yep, first we crashed The Gathering party Saturday night, got to meet some fellow QC riders, Jackstraw, Florida Snowman, eddieskidoo, trailblazer, and tundrafreak, who is an 802 crew member like myself. I always wanted to go to a gathering but never could swing it. Then there it was, right in front of me. A total chance meeting. So Sunday morning armed with some GPS tracks acquired some time ago from Andyman and Towing, some advise from trailblazer, my Quebec native friend Andre, and my little helper Garmin, off we went. Glad it was not cold out. Wind chill could be an issue on a bad day. Very few chances to get cover. The trip to Opitciwan was 50 miles, 49 of it was on water. Since our next stop was Windigo we had to head right back the same way after a quick fill up and a tour de ville. I have a couple of videos I'd like to share, but I may need some help with that.
  15. Booster pack must have died, hooked up to a truck battery now. Gas was no problem.
  16. Any gas in wemo or Casey? Anything before Parant?
  17. Many great memories on my old 79 jag. My first "long range" sled that you could actually take on a 3 day tour. Granted it was only about 200 miles for the entire trip but it was still 3 full days of riding. Mixing the gas was always a crapshoot, a quart of Castrol to 5 gallons... or was it 6? IDK. Que the " It was 1980 something, in the land that I grew up in.."
  18. No firm plans yet. We are going to be in the general area though and when we are we seem to end up there. Saw a wolf in the parking lot last time. I've never done the ride across but I want to someday. If anyone has some tracks from there Garmin crossing the reservoir I would love to see them.
  19. Anybody been to the Gouin reservoir yet? How about crossing it? Too soon? Thinking next week.
