This is all a little confusing to say the least.  I have a trip planned for next Wednesday the 24th, until the following Wednesday from Mont Laurier to Lac Taureau, to Relais 22 etc and I'm not sure if I should cancel based on current map conditions.

You're touch and go.  Sounds like Parent to Wemo will open the week of the 23rd.  La Tuque clubs site says everything in their area is open, except 355 to the south which you might need.  States they are working on it.  Similar no reports from the Manawan club yet for TQ33 and RT345.  My guess is you'll be ok, but you're not gonna know till right before you are booked to leave.

  2. It's a catch 22.  We see the other extreme in Ontario where risk management is so intense (logs, numerous forms, training courses, etc.) it arguably takes club resources and time away from other tasks that that time could be put to.  It is a sad state of affairs when volunteers have to worry about being sued just for providing a product to the genrral public.  That said I can see this in some ways helping the fcmq deliver better info to riders (maybe more accurate and consistent would be a better way to put it).  The trail condtion reporting on the app I find difficult to follow in Quebec.  In Ontario the clubs have to report on every trail individually.  You get a real picture of what is open and rideable and what isn't.  It seems in Quebec the club just lists their entire trail system as open or closed.  Albeit by mid season the entire trail system is open, and then the grooming updates are awesome and better then what Ontario provides.  But early on having that trail by trail info on what's open is nice.  Reality is not all trails open at the same time throughout a clubs boundaries.  Hopefully the Quebec clubs rise to the challenge like they always do.  Good news is there is plenty of experience in other jurisdictions on these legal issues for the FCMQ to learn from if they decide they need to.  I just hope it doesn't hurt the quality of the product that gets put out.

Things are looking good and more to come! Guess I didn’t  jinx it 😉. Looking for the grooming map to be lighting up like a Christmas tree soon in a lot of areas! The season is here folks!

    Lol

I conceed.  You were correct.  Keep calling them.  We could use s foot more.

  4. Oh tough one.  I really haven't done enough QC trips to pick favorites, but will try.

    1. RT369, TQ23, TQ83 and TQ3 riding Quebec City to Saguenay and back.  Really TQ23 and TQ83 south of Saguenay are the jewels in this loop.

    2. Gaspe loop that includes RT595

    3. RT386 Swisha to V'al D'or and return via RT309, TQ63 abd TQ43.  It's fast and quite remote.

Most accomodations are exceptional so no real opinion.  My wife did say she doesn't want to go back to Camp de Base in Casey.  A touch too rough for her liking.  That said I'd stay there again on a guys trip.

  5. Starting over there arent they.  Bummer.

I saw yesterday it was 17 degrees celcius (62 fahrenheit) with 40mm (over an inch) of rain forecast for cap chat in the gaspe.  Pretty similar in Forestville across the river.  Unreal for this area for December.  That's a July day in these towns.  Getting cold now.  Hopefully, that's the end of it.  Time for winter.  Some snow did follow the storm in some areas.  Not a lot, but a start.

  6. There is a club trail connection off of RT 330 that connects down to TQ 3.  I remember the corner from our ride last March, but not there being an intersection / south bound trail there.  Seems to be the solution to get around it.  Who knows.  Hopefully just a mapping thing.

  7. If history is an indicator more than likely yes.  Most seasons they have early season Christmas riding in the area with conditionsthat vary.  You're really asking for a weather prediction here 2 - 3 weeks out though.  Lots on here will start making crystal ball predictions for 2 weeks from now with this question.  Lol.
