  1. Check out the posts in the regional forums. Nobody seems to be there now, at least that posts on this page. Jack and Sandy were there right after Christmas and had to cut the trip short. I would try calling up there and maybe checking with a club. I am thinking you would need to trailer from there or find something outside of town

Dont want to be a Debbie Downer but looking at the long term eastern Canada January forescast , things dont look overly promising. I got 5 bucks that say the FCMQ moves the free weekend out as there surely wont be enough trails opened by next weekend. Hopefully I am wrong on all of this.

My buddy Andre and another Quebec'r are going to head into his camp on Lac Chapeau de Paille on the 12th via back roads off the 345. I presume they will be starting from Mattawin and will report when I hear from them. I myself have another repair job and BIG bill to get accomplished in the next 1-2 weeks so its keeping my mind off riding. My air shock finally pooched and needs replaced and as usual BRP is VERY proud of that shock and has it priced accordingly. 15% off, no tax and free shipping helps sooth the pain a little though.

any aftermarket companies offering a replacement to eliminate that air shock?

Anyone having issues with the site where when your typing the site randomly adds large spaces into your post. Using a Samsung phone and it keeps doing it. Quite annoying.

Never had that issue, but either use a computer or iphone. And if you think it's annoying to you, you should be the guys trying to scroll through the comments LOL

In 2007 or 08 my son and i rode out of LA Sarre on a trail going north to Matagami.  I remember stopping at a truck turn around at the end of a road to get gas and the gentleman seemed very surprised to see us. He told us that the groomer had went thru a week before. Sounded good to us but I believe that the groomer was the only vehicle that had been on the trail in weeks.  I remember sticks in the trail about 12 inches high. I also remember the wolf tracks on the trail.  It was a long ride, maybe 90 miles., to gas. My kid did find a moose shed on the trail we brought home.  It was a long ride and I don't know to this day if we worried more about the wolf's or running out of gas. I don't remember the trail number but I do remember that the trail was closed the year or 2 later. I think others on here can also remember the trail number and how truly in the bush you were.

We rode through from LaSarre to Matagami and came upon a Wolf on the trail. It didn't want to leave the trail and was running ahead of us. We stopped to give it space hoping it would find it's way off the trail. When we continued we caught up to it after a mile, still running about 20 mph. I managed to get some cool pics pics of it while riding. We stopped again to hopefully give it time to move off. We decided if we came  on it again we would try and go past it. When we caught it the 3rd time, as soon as the leader passed the Wolf, the wolf tried to turn and bite him. when he did the wolf jumped off the trail and we all passed him. I had posted pics on this site back then but have since lost track of the photos

Think it might be called Chevalier club ? Others will know here.

Double quonset huts joined…wood trim ceiling…fireplace…arch at the entrance.

Not the club with an arch by the end of the 35 rail bed.

Yup that is the Pohenegamook Club

This is my final call...LOL....just updated on The Weather Network. When I opened it and looked I felt like the teenage kid in the Animal House movie that was sitting on the edge of the bed with a porno mag when the chick came crashing through the window....." THANK YOU GOD " !!!!

Things are different up there for sure. Reminds me of my first trip up trying to order a chicken sandwich at the double quonset hut club.

After trying to explain what I wanted, them shrugging a few times, them probably knowing and torturing the english speaking guy, I flapped my arms like a chicken. They laughed, said “oh poulette”….. and that was the golden handshake to getting lunch that day. Haha They spotted a rookie for sure.

I still order chicken (or poutine) most times at lunch since its easy and less embarrassing than imitating a cow. 😂

    sounds like Pohenegamook club

We stayed near Gaines at the Rough Cut Lodge (Excellent Place). Dropped our sleds first day 5 miles east at Ansonia Parking on Colton Point Road. Second day dropped 20 miles west of Lodge at District 15 Office Parking which is just west of Denton Hill State Park. Both spots are just off Route 6. Heard weekends were crazy busy. We went during week. You need PA registration to ride in PA. We got ours at Larry's sport Center in Galeton

you actually don't need a PA registration to ride PA any state registration is fine and there is no trail permit

Actually rode through that covered bridge a few years ago on my sled. It's in Hartland NB and it is the longest covered bridge in the world at 1,282 feet. We had looped from Madawaska Lake in Maine through Grand Falls NB South before crossing back into Maine at Houlton then back up to Stockholm ME

Was thing of leaving from the 1212 on 85 then going to moose valley for gas and lunch and up to Amqui for the night

If you do that take some extra time and loop around the trails North of Moose Valley, they are wide flat and fast with little or no traffic. You can really rack up the miles there. And just a reminder NB is one hour ahead.

  12. No subject is more polarizing for snowmobilers than this one. I really don't get why but there seems to be no middle ground. I personally think signaling how many are in the group is a silly investment in blind faith but I admit when I see a group coming at me on a straight stretch practically falling off their sleds trying to signal me I will give them signal. I think everyone needs to remember that no matter which opinion you of signaling you follow, it is just that....your opinion. As aggravated as you may be that someone does not signal back they may be just as pissed that you are trying to get them to signal
