  1. In my opinion it's the fuel costs...... Hurts everyone and everything! How much less would it cost t groom if fuel was $1.50 a gallon. How many more trips would u take..... Fuel has to make up more than 50 percent of ur costs for a trip...... Cheaper fuel..... More riders less overhead to maintain the system, more revenue to local business How we reduce fuel prices is the million dollar question.?
  2. May need a 4th if anyone is interested in doing some major touring on Harley's or equiv. Leaving approx June 21st and return whenever we get home....approx July 6. Depart from pa - target is Yellowstone, Teton, Jackson then either go north to banff and jasper or south to Grand Canyon and run rt 66 east. Trails are guaranteed to be flat, special on trail passes (free), gas mileage will be much better than the new ACE and the weather will be 80 degrees warmer! Anyone interested let me know? BJ
  3. Jack, Wally Pipp was a 1st baseman for the New York Yankees in 1939. He decided to sit out a game due to a mild headache...........as a result a rookie named Lou Gehrig got the opportunity to start. 2,130 consecutive games later Gehrig missed his first game while Pipp never had an opportunity to play again. Phil- You could be sitting home for quite a while! You may have had your last trip with the boys...............LOL
  4. Well written love story...........I think I got emotional!
  5. Cmon guys............Everyone has their personal preference. I am not brand loyal..............PERIOD! I have ridden all brands extensively with the exception of Polaris. If Yamaha was that great there wouldnt be any other brand. My personal feeling of the APEX is the seating position..........Your riding old school and an unexpected bounce is going to send the jelly out of disc c-1 to c-5. I don't dispute the reliability, power, fit and finish etc. Its a great sled for some riders! I bought a brand new Nytro in 09 and took a 3500 dollar loss mid year because you couldnt pay me to ride the sled. It wouldnt' turn orrrrrrrrrrr you had to hang on the bars to make it turn. I loved the motor, no vibration, great power, comfortable, Great hand warmers!, 7 gallon gas tank (the other thing that really sucked) Every Tom, Dick and Harry had a solution............Do this Do that, Buy this Buy that.........Cmon. If I pay 13 grand for a machine I don't expect to have to buy anything. I bought a ski doo TNT that I have stuck with ever since.......... I have rented multiple machines and nothing has given me feeling that I need to go new yet. I feel if you are so narrow minded to continually think your brand is the best............you are going to miss out...........and you sound like you are 5 yrs old! The new viper is very intriguing to me...........Nytro motor (bigger gas tank), good handling chassis. After riding this machine, I may take a shot at it after 2013. I will never buy a first model year. This is just my 2 cents............. PS MY DAD CAN BEAT UP YOUR DAD!
  6. Trail is definetely a 50%.............Could go from one of the best one day and two days later could be the worst. Unfortunately once your on it you don't have any other options.
  7. 600 IQ. Great Report and Pics......What type of fuel mileage are you getting with the Polaris'.....
  8. Best trip report of the year! We need to come up with some kind of award... Much appreciated!
  9. On a side note... Always carry extra gas as some of those parts r very remote. You can never have enough even with the etecs. Sounds like a great family trip...... Good luck! It's a great ride!
  10. I agree the non saddlebagger does high mileage days.........I think the point I was trying to make: When you break and your 700 miles from your truck, it really sucks! and its going to cost you big $$$$ to get home. With day trips you can usually tow the machine somewhere, run back and get the truck, and all is good...........
  11. Been there, tried that............ The 08 Nytro was my confirmation on not buying a first model year sled......... That thing was a piece of sh*&%. Traded it in mid year for a doo with a $3000 loss. Never had an issue with the motor............ Gas was a problem and handling was a major problem.
  12. When there is barbed wire surrounding the gas pumps its not a very comforting feeling........We will try to refrain from stopping in that scary place!
  13. I cant think of one! Its amazing how much stuff breaks with all the technology out there. After all its 2013............. I think my 72 AC Panther was more reliable than what we have out there today across all brands. Its not just the high mileage sleds, its some right out of the box. 1st, 2nd, 3rd model years. We have found that the more years a model is available - the more reliable! All the kinks worked out........ Its so hard to resist buying the latest and greatest but you end up being the guineau pig and are often the one being towed. For the nonsaddle bagger doing 100 miles a day, its not as important........ We have had some pretty good success sticking with the ski doo old 600 non etec motor. That thing has probably been out since 2000 ish? No bugs left to be worked out. 15-17mpg, 105hp, never left us stranded with probably 30,000 combined miles in qc. Just my 2 cents All sleds are junk.............but they're pretty damn fun to ride!
  14. I bet he is just checking on that jackshaft bearing.......................
  15. He always seems to get caught on film when he has the slightest mishap.....LOL.........Id bet a case of beer that his machine didn't have a scratch on it. IT HAS MORE THAN 9 LIVES!
  16. How many miles did you get in the back of the truck? From relais 22 to la tuque............ How long did it take?
  17. Crazy: We need an update! There are many out here in cyberspace (rather than "paradise") less fortunate that have to live vicarolously thru you guys. Could you please satisfy our needs with a post (maybe one with pics!) on your trials and tribulations of the day! Tx
  18. Shane, Your going with a great group. I played pitcher for Phil the past two years and picked him up exactly like u did. I am very jealous but have a work conflict that's going to booger up my snowmobile season. U will have a ball both on and off the trail with veterans of the snowmobile excursions in qc. Encourage Phil to keep the trackside down and u should be fine although I don't recall him not finishing a trip! It doesn't get any better! Bj Ps Phil is the gentleman on the left side of his avatar!
  19. Summer Riding in Quebec! Just Added to Bucket List!
  20. I think the "picture" makes it look much worse than it actually was...............lol or is it the other way around?
